Chapter 388: When opportunity arrives grab it
“Get out of the way!” Nicolai shouted while carrying Ari in his arms as he rushed past the crowd that had gathered in front of the reception of the hospital.
When the crowd saw a mountain of a man running towards them like a bull in rage, the entire crowd parted in two halves.
The people at the back flattened themselves against the wall, as they were pushed back by the people in the front.
As for those who were standing in the front, they were too terrified to be caught in the way of Nicolai who seemed exceptionally even more petrifying with Ari’s blood covering his hands.
All of this had nothing to do with Nicolai. He rushed past the parted crowd and shouted, “Someone get me a doctor.” He lowered his head and then looked at Ari, who had fallen unconscious.
He didn’t know whether it was due to the blood loss or something else.
Nicolai raised his head and shouted at the petrified nurses and ward boys. The anger in his heart coursed like poison in his veins as he shouted, “Did you not fucking hear the fuck that I said? Call a doctor for me, fucking do something.”
“Nico!” Aiden came rushing down the corridor, behind him were two male nurses, who were pushing a stretcher. Upon reaching his cousin who was carrying Ari like a wounded beast protecting his final breath. “Calm down, screaming and yelling like this will not help, Doctor Harlow.”
“Fuck Aiden, you have to do something,” Nicolai said in a desperate voice. “You have to fix her, her wound is bleeding so much —look at the blood, it —it’s too much,” he started blabbering while clutching Ari close to his body.
His expression was broken as he stared at the woman in his arms. He promised to keep her safe, and yet, he failed, miserably at that.
Never did Nicolai think that failing in something could hurt so much, and fuck did it hurt. His eyes remained fixated on Ari, his expression one of despair — a kind of desperation for her to wake up and tell him that she was fine surged in his blood, that he couldn’t even see the nurses trying to take Ari away from him.
“Nico,” Aiden reached forward and placed his hand on Nicolai’s shoulders. “I know that you are worried, but you need to let go of her now. She will be fine, I promise.”
Nicolai raised his head and moved his head lightly. His words for the first time failed him and when he opened his mouth he could only say hoarsely, “You promise? She will come back to me?”
“Yes, Nico,” Aiden smiled bracingly at him. “Have I ever made a promise that I haven’t kept? I will treat her to the best of my ability and give her back to you.” He clasped Nico by his shoulders before shaking him harshly. “Trust me, Nico.”
“I am trusting you with her,” said Nicolai after a short pause, his grip loosened on Ari’s injured body as the nurses brought her to the stretcher.
The nurses started pushing the stretcher to the emergency room without wasting another second.
Aiden followed them with hurried steps.
Nicolai watched Ari being wheeled away from him and turned to Aiden before repeating, “I am trusting you, Aiden.” With his life, he didn’t know what he would do if something happened to Ari.
Even though he planned to distance himself from her even in his wretched imagination she was happy and with someone she liked and loved.
Not under six feet.
Aiden turned and glanced at Nicolai before smiling at him reassuringly, “I know.”
He then spun his head back to the front before going inside the emergency room. As he washed his hands and let one of the nurses pull the sterilized gloves on his hands, he questioned the other doctor in the emergency room.
“What’s the situation, Collin?” He asked.
“Her spine has received a rather heavy impact, there are more than four fractured ribs. The gunshot wound that she received earlier seemed to have been abused, resulting in heavy trauma.”
He lifted the surgical gown and showed Aiden the gunshot wound. The surrounding skin had turned completely black, as blood continuously oozed from it.
Not to mention, the stitches were a mangled mess.
Collin continued to read the information from the reports that were brought back to him. “There are marks of spiked whips on her back, legs, and arms—I don’t know which pervert did this, but he has ruined a layer of her skin.”
“Nearly tore it, as you can see. She is fortunate to keep her life after this,” he pointed at the peeling skin that was in need of immediate care. “And of course the blood loss.” He raised his head and looked at Aiden. “We don’t have so much O-positive blood stored, Aiden.”
“This surgery will go on for more than three hours, we cannot continue it without the current amount stored in the hospital.”
Collin handed the report to the nurse standing beside him. He turned his gaze at Aiden before saying, “This is an estimate for now.”

Aiden frowned before saying, “I will see what we can do about this.” As he spoke he turned to the nurse who was carrying the scalpel and other surgical instruments. “Nurse, I require you to do a little something for me,” he said to the nurse as soon as the woman placed the tray on the sterilized table.
Outside the ward, Nicolai was staring at the red emergency light that was lit up over the doors of the emergency room.
He was standing with his arms crossed in front, but that was only because he didn’t trust himself at that moment.
Not even the slightest.
One small push and he would end someone right then and there.
“Nicolai,” a voice called out from behind, and Nicolai turned to look at the four men who were rushing towards him.
However, Nicolai skipped past the other three before locking his gaze on the one man whom he wanted to meet the most, but only once he had snapped out of his bloody haze.
But since he was here—
