Chapter 406: A scheme that started years ago
“Mister De Luca,” a woman in a bright red dress that showed off what she had to offer, to everyone in the vicinity of the club that Nicolai ran under another identity, stepped forward.
She smiled at the man while showing him off her pearly white teeth. “How can I help you today? Do you need a pick me up or do you want someone to help you with your nerves?”
“There is this young lady who just arrived at our club, three days ago. Though not a virgin, she is quite coquettish, I believe that she will satisfy you,” continued the woman as she stopped in front of Nicolai.
She raised her hand and then skimmed her long, manicured nails on his chest before saying, “Of course, if you want someone more experienced. I am more than happy to serve you in bed.”
“Not now, Riley,” Nicolai smacked the grabby hand off his chest. He glanced around the bar, which seemed to be working just fine as everything was in order. “I don’t need anything, just hand me a Devil’s pint, you get it?”
The smile on Riley’s face stiffened, however, she hooked it right up. Over the booming music of the bar, she said to Nicolai, “I got it, Mister De Luca. Please follow me.” She then turned on her stilettos and haughtily marched forward.
Nicolai sighed as he followed Riley. He should have listened to Aiden and kept Nico the Great in his pants instead of listening to Zayden.
What harm could it do to bring the bartender to his bed? Certainly, a lot, especially since he owned the club.
Let it be known to the world, that if you have a psychopath of a cousin and one with a sane head on his shoulders. Always follow the one with the sanity intact because if you don’t—
Then the chances of getting stuck in very awkward situations would become very high. Like he was at that very moment.
Riley brought Nicolai past the bustling area, past the counter and the corridor that led to the back of the club, before coming to a stop in front of a door that had ‘EXIT’ written on top of it.
There, Riley took out a key from the small pocket of her dress before turning the key three times in the keyhole.
However, the door didn’t open as she turned the key. Instead, a small rectangular opening that was on top of the door slid open and a pair of eyes appeared.
“What did the Phantom ask his prey?” The man behind the door asked.
Nicolai rolled his eyes and pushed the woman to the side before saying, “That you better open the fuck door open, you fucking blind idiot. Can’t you see me?”
“Sorry Boss, gotta follow the rules and protocols,” said the man as he opened the door. “If we don’t obey the rules ourselves, what will the boys think?”
“Tell them the rules don’t apply to me,” Nicolai said to the man as he stepped inside the basement which was lit up with multiple neon lights.
As he climbed down the narrow steps, he saw Patrick standing at the end of the steps. With his hands in his pockets, Nicolai headed downstairs before asking, “What’s going on, Rick? Why did Zayden call me in a hurry?”
He paused and asked with wide eyes, “Fucking fuck, don’t tell me that son of a bitch died?”
“No, he is very much alive —of course, that can be changed as per your wishes,” replied Patrick as the two of them started moving further inside the basement which stretched further and deeper, before stretching into a labyrinth.
Only those who were members of the familia could find their way inside this basement, which was why none of the corridors had any doors.
“If he is alive, then what is the emergency that he spoke of?” Nicolai asked while looking at Patrick as the two of them arrived at the end of a dingy corridor, down which the screams of those who tried to go against the Phantoms echoed.
Patrick’s expression turned a bit complex as he hesitated before saying, “You will know very soon, just follow me, Nico.”
Seeing his hesitation, Nicolai frowned. What did Zayden find, for the two of them to act like this? However, he didn’t question Patrick any further and thus by the time he arrived in the room where Samuel had been kept, he had exercised all the patience that he had in him.
Zayden was sitting in a chair, and in front of his feet lay a man. If someone were to look at this man, they would no longer be able to comprehend how the man jaunty, arrogant and bold Samuel turned into a whiny, wimpy little coward.
“You are here,” Zayden threw the cigar that was in his mouth on the floor and raised to his feet.
“Duh,” Nicolai rolled as he crossed the room and came to a stand next to Zayden. “What’s going on?”
“A great grand scheme,” Zayden smirked as he kicked the man on the floor. “Tell him what you told me just now.”
“W—will you let me go then?” Samuel croaked through a split lip as he eyed Zayden warily. He was no longer as cocky as he had been the last time they had met him.
“Ahh, jeez,” Zayden threw his head back as he cracked his neck and kicked the man in the ribs. “I will tell you what, if you dare to bore me again with the same pleading —let me go, I haven’t done anything —or my personal favourite, ‘You don’t know on whom you are putting your hand on?’, I will seriously fuck you up.”

“On with it, Sammy. I wasn’t joking when I said that I will shove a pole through your asshole until it reaches your mouth, you know?”
The man on the ground shivered once more, and this time much more violently. He gulped and fearfully stammered out, “I will—I will confess.” Samuel turned to look at Nicolai and confessed, “I —I …I was asked to coerce Ariana. I never wanted to propose to her.”
