Chapter 412: Swirling Storm
The crowd roared to life, as Nicolai slid inside the ring through the gaps between the ropes. He was wearing nothing but red and black shorts, with his hands covered in gloves that only covered half of his fingers.
“Welcome, sobbing beauty,” Zayden taunted him while jumping from one foot to another. His toes moved agilely as he stepped from one side to another. “Are you done moping?”
“You need to shut that trap of yours, Zay. I can seriously kill you tonight if you taunt me too much,” Nicolai snapped at him, the pressure behind his head was getting too strong and his vision was turning redder by the minute.
Rip…maim..kill.
These words rang again and again in his ears as he looked at his cousin. At that moment, his mind was not even registering that the person in front of him was his own fucking cousin.
He just wanted to do something, anything that would get him out of his mind where he had been trapped for ages, after seeing Ari in the arms of Noah.
Of course, he was no fool to not understand that it was someone’s awful attempt at making him pissed off.
However, Nicolai didn’t even know it himself when Ari became his tipping scale and because of this very reason, that stupid little trick had worked.
The second he saw her with Noah, the man who gyrated on his nerves in the most peculiar way —his temper was off the charts.
He wanted to hurt someone…kill someone: Noah, but he knew he couldn’t because if he had hurt Noah, Ari wouldn’t have liked it. And Nicolai wouldn’t like her showing care for that preppy boy.
Ex-husband, first crush or whatever.
“Show me your worst, Nico.”
Zayden made a proactive gesture with his fingers at Nicolai, who narrowed his eyes. He cracked his fingers and stepped forward, he knew that Zayden was doing this for him —the fucker as annoying as he was, he was certainly scared and worried after finding him passed out in the swimming pool.
He didn’t show it but like his mother, he cared for him and was the first one to stand beside him when Nicolai was in this fucked up state of mind.
The ding of the bell announced the start of the match, and Nicolai pounced right at his cousin. Without giving Zayden any chance to avoid his hits, as he was not in any condition to play with Zayden, Nicolai punched his cousin in the face before delivering a dropkick.
Zayden raised his hand and wiped the blood from the side of his mouth. He glanced down at his fingertips which were now covered in blood before grinning and spitting out a mouthful of blood on the mat.
A collective set of gasps echoed around the ring as Zayden’s fangirls glared at Nicolai.
And he glared right back at them with his famous —fuck with me and I will bury you, glare. Those gazes dropped as quickly as his bastard of a father fell in the bed of his mistress.
“Stop glaring at the women, Nico. Come at me, unleash your demons on me —why show it to the weak?” Zayden teased him in a jeering voice.
And that was when Nicolai decided to throw the little care that he had for his cousin to the back of his head, he jumped right onto his cousin. Pummelling him to the mat as he punched, kicked and tackled.
His thoughts were now covered in the same bloody haze that had wrapped itself around his mind, it seemed to have trickled inside his head when he was not paying attention to it.
Zayden did his best to defend himself, with his hands raised to cover his face, he said, “Not the face, Nico. Ladies love it.” And somehow managed to land a few kicks at Nicolai, but it was of no use. Nicolai couldn’t feel any pain because his head and heart were too much in chaos.
Out.
Fucking Out.
He wanted to get out of this.
And as he charged at Zayden, there was no such thing as remorse out of guilt as he heard the soft crunch of something breaking. He raised his gaze and looked at his fist, which was pressing against Zayden’s nose.
He seemed to have broken it as blood dripped on the mat. Another round of gasps, and still Nicolai didn’t give two fucks.
Good. Good thing he didn’t go to Ari, or else he would have hurt her seriously. That was the last thing he wanted to be thrown into the mix.
He was about to charge again when there was another ding, the referee was pushing him to one corner, but Nicolai did not want to stop. He could still go on damn it, he wanted to go back and fight when Nicolai felt a soft and warm touch around his waist.
“Stop…just stop Nico. Snap out of it.”

Zena. His sister was pulling him back and from the tremor in her voice, she seemed to be on the verge of crying. Why? Why was she crying? Nicolai raised his head and looked at Zayden, who was a mess.
Aiden was wiping blood off the face of his brother’s face, but Zayden kept teasing his brother as if his nose were not about to go centre.
Zena was pulling him back, and he heard her say, “Nico… I think you need to leave. If you continue like this, you will kill Zay.”
“He is fucking fine.”
“But you aren’t!” Zena sobbed as she wiped the blood off his face that Nicolai didn’t even know he had until he pressed the towel on the side of his mouth. “I don’t know how to tell you this but you—you look different, Nico. Almost crazy, I cannot even recognize you anymore. You need to go back home and maybe take your medications.”
“No, thanks.”
“Nico! Enough,” Zena glared at him as she took the ointment from the referee and started wiping a small pea-sized amount on his cheek. “I don’t care whether you burn down a Serpents’ club or anything, but this is Zay. He is one of us, and he is only doing this because he doesn’t want you to hurt yourself. Why are you fucking up your family for a woman who doesn’t give two flying fucks about you?”
“I am not doing this for a woman—” Nicolai trailed off as soon as he felt a familiar yet intense glare aimed at him.
