Chapter 413: Swirling Storm (2)
Nicolai turned his head, he thought it was Zayden or another fucker who wanted to meet his maker, but that was until his gaze flitted through the crowd. Of course, he did not stare too long at them lest they ended up shitting their pants.
In three minutes, his gaze finally found those piercing blues.
Fuck him
This had to be a dream, right?
Because there was no way, Ariana freaking Harlow was sitting in one of the chairs surrounding the ring. That woman was terrified of the very sight of blood, so what in the heck was she doing in a fighting club, watching a bloody fight?
This was the very reason he had tried his best to avoid Ari as he knew that the woman was a preacher of nonviolence.
She wouldn’t have understood him.
Nicolai blinked once again as he was sure that he was too deep in whatever shithole he was tumbling down, and was imagining Ariana sitting on one of the chairs, six rows up from the front.
But as he opened his eyes, she was still there. Though with her gothic black turtleneck and skirt with silver X glued at the seams along with chokers and waist chains, she didn’t stick out of the crowd.
However, the innocence in her eyes made her different from the rest.
Her blue eyes were staring at him with a frown on her face.
And he was a goner. Forget about ruining his life for a woman, or the fact that his mother had asked him to remove Ari from his life.
The fact that he wanted and needed to remove this woman from his life was the very necessity to keep his sanity.
But how the fuck was he going to do that? Just freaking look at her, staring at him with that little scrunch of her brows and pout. The more Ari stared at him, the more Nico the Great who had been sulking until now started to twitch inside his pants.
Yeah, Yeah. I know you are happy but you have to reign in that eagerness, Nico The Great.
Ari’s gaze moved from him to Zena and her expression turned guarded. Why the fuck was she looking at them like that?
And before he could fathom anymore, his gaze fell on a muscular man clad in denim jeans and a polo shirt, walking over to the chair next to her. He was holding two cans of beer and a popcorn bucket.
Ari turned her gaze away and smiled at the man who smiled back at her and pinched her cheeks as he placed the popcorn bucket on the stand.
What the—
Nicolai’s eyes narrowed at the man who sat next to Ari and leaned in close to whisper something in her ear.
Get the fuck off her.
Was this her next Prince Charming? Elegant and nice? He did seem like the kind of man Ari would choose. No tattoos in sight, hair gelled and groomed. Even his shirt was tucked in properly.
He was everything that Nicolai wasn’t.
So, instead of choosing Noah or him, Ari picked up another preppy asshole? This was how she wanted to play, huh?
“Nico!” Zena shouted in his ears and brought him out of his thoughts. Nicolai’s attention returned to her, and how wouldn’t it? When she was practically slapping him in the face. “Where are you looking? What’s going on with you?”
Honestly. He had no idea himself.
“Hey, Zen…”
“What?”
“You know what…I think I am going to change the rule of not hurting an innocent person.”
Her mouth dropped open, Zena had always supported his crazy antics but this time around for the first time she looked like she was staring at someone who had lost his freaking marbles. “Which innocent person are we talking about here now, Nico?”

“Someone who shouldn’t have touched what’s mine.”
He turned his gaze and saw Ari getting up from the chair, most probably she was going to the restroom as the foam of the beer had fallen on her skirt.
The man on the side was clapping his hands while looking disapprovingly at the fighting ring. Fucker. If he didn’t like it, why did he even come here?
And why was he even there with Ari?
Nicolai didn’t have the opportunity to worry about such things, as soon as the bell rang, he jumped back into the fighting ring but not before sending a message to Patrick telling him what he needed to do.
Inside his head, he knew that he should avoid Ari. That he might as well pluck a page off her book and ignore her, telling himself that everything was fine and he was alright. That he didn’t care what she was doing and with whom she was meeting.
And yet— the very thought that she was already with another man when he was agonizing over her hugging Noah, left a bitter taste in his mouth. The reason he was in this mess, was because of that woman in the first place.
The thoughts drove him wild as he lashed against his cousin.
His name echoed in the fighting ring, women cheered for him—calling his name like crazy little minions and yet, he wanted only one woman to scream his name. And he was going to make her.
Fuck the push and pull. He was claiming her before someone else did.
** ** ** *
Ari didn’t know what and why she even agreed to Danny’s crazy idea. He was her best friend and yet, his ideas of a
‘pick me up,’ has never been —well exactly nice.
Just like watching a brutal MMA fighting match because we cannot beat the shit out of those whom we want to pummel to the floor.
However, when she came to this club, she had no idea that she would run into Nicolai. Why was he even fighting and —why did he seem so detached from everything?
She shook her head and then washed the foam off the front of her top before turning the tap off and wiping the extra water off the fabric of her clothes and hands.
And just as she stepped out of the restroom, with a tissue dabbing on the fabric of her clothes, she ran headlong into someone.
“Miss Ari?”
