Chapter 415: In the end” Its just him(2)
She hadn’t even taken off her jacket as she was not used to using the space which was not hers.
“Maybe I should just leave?” Ariana repeated as she covered her face and then leaned back, her head was now resting on the backrest of the couch.
Her eyes stared at the dome-shaped roof that was perfectly transparent. She could see the cloud swirling in the dark sky and the moon that shone brightly over her head.
What was she even trying to do? Why was she even here when she knew that somehow this entire situation would inevitably lead to another disaster? One that would hurt her or Nicolai.
It was going to hurt again.
She just knew it.
And yet, she did not make a move to leave.
For some reason, she would rather not leave. The lingering scent in the penthouse made her feel secure and calm.
Ari released another sigh as she picked up her phone for the second time, just in case Nicolai had texted her. However, as soon as she tapped on his number, her heart fell to the pit of her stomach.
He read her messages but never returned even one. What was this? Was he done chasing her now that he got her where he wanted? Was this about satisfying his ego?
Maybe he thought that she wasn’t worth giving a damn about, with how Zena was all over him between the small break…perhaps he decided that someone wilder suited him more.
She knew that Zena was his adoptive sister but the rumours that she had heard from others, made it impossible for her to ignore Zena.
“God, what is wrong with me?” Ari closed her eyes as she covered her face again. Why in the world was she suddenly having such thoughts?
Why couldn’t she get over the image of Zena being so close to him? They grew up together for goodness’ sake.
In fact, the reason she left the arena was because she was not able to watch the two of them whispering in one another’s ears.
More than the sight of him covered in blood, it was them being all over one another that made it impossible for her to sit there comfortably.
This feeling was simply too weird—it creeped her out as she had never felt like this, not even when she caught Noah kissing Ariel.
She had felt angry. Yes. But that anger was nowhere enough to that ugly feeling that she had when Zena had swooped in close to Nicolai.
Click.
He wasn’t coming.
Tick.
Why should he? Are you really worthy of him when he has a bunch of women to fawn over him?
Tick.
Just leave—no one would want a flawed woman like you.
A sort of crushing shame started rising in her heart before it was washed down by a blinding rage. Why did he chase her if this was how he was going to abandon her?
She knew that she should get the fuck up and leave, but her legs just wouldn’t budge.
The sound of the code being punched in the door lock echoed in the room and a rush of excitement and adrenaline spread through Ari’s heart.
Calm down.
She had no idea whether the light reprimand had worked or not because the second the door was pushed open and Nicolai stepped inside, she felt his presence and goosebumps broke all over her skin.
Ari got to her feet and turned to look at him, but the second she turned to look at him, her eyes widened.

Specks of blood were splattered all over his body and face. It seemed like he had driven straight to the penthouse, as his hair was a mess and so was his face. His hair was left loose behind her, a few strands loomed over his forehead and framed his face.
A savage expression plastered over his face.
He looked so fine, so handsome —and yet, Ari knew that something was wrong with him. Because he did not resemble her Nicolai, The one she had come to know.
Hers? What was she even thinking about? Nicolai was not hers. He was never hers.
“What’s going on with you, Nicolai?” She asked with a frown. “Why did you ghost me for weeks and suddenly—”
Every single word or complaint that she had in her mind was knocked right back into her throat as Nicolai smashed his body with hers.
Ari shrieked in surprise as she stumbled on her back and fell right on top of the cushioned floor, Nicolai’s hand covered the back of her head even though it didn’t hurt in the least. She tried to push herself up at the same time she tried to get the man off her body as he was too heavy.
And the second she tried to push him away, he growled in her ear, “Oh no you don’t.” Her hands which were pushing him off her body were caught and brought over her head as she looked at Nicolai.
His knee wedged between her legs, a few inches away from her core.
“What are you—”
“Shut up, don’t say a word, Pallas.” Nicolai snarled as he tugged at her lower lip.
Ari felt her breath get lodged in her chest as she felt a slight tingle spread all over her skin.
His mouth covered hers as he sucked in the air of her lungs, he licked and nipped at her lips and tongue. Teeth clashed and —
Was a kiss supposed to be this blissful?
But then again, whenever Nicolai touched her, something weird had always happened. This was the reason she had avoided him until now as she knew that the second she got entangled with him, there was no way out of it.
His teeth nipped at her skin as if he were punishing her for something.
And yet, Ari didn’t resist as she let him steal her breath away. The more his presence overwhelmed her, the more her thoughts were pushed back, and she was no longer suffocating in the puddle of darkness.
The one where she had been pushed inside from the day she gained wisdom.
“Who the fuck was that man?”
