Chapter 426: Dark Possessiveness
Nicolai looked around, and his eyes fell on the familiar ceiling, he sat up straight on his bed. The blanket slipped down from his torso as he did so. The fuck? What was he doing sleeping in here? He usually didn’t come here unless—
With a jerk, he looked around the bedroom, now that his head was clear, he recalled sitting right against the bed waiting for Ari to finish with her bath and then— what happened after that?
Did he climb on the bed and go to sleep?
Nope. That was simply impossible. He was a stubborn motherfucker, unless Ari was out of the bathing room and back into his arms he wouldn’t have gone to sleep. Then …
His gaze lingered on the bed which was covered with freshly washed and ironed sheets, even the room freshener of his room was working. He could hear the little puffs of the machine as he filled the room with a soft, yet warm scent of amber and his favourite vodka.
“Did she carry me up the bed?” He surveyed his body and finally noticed a small cut on the side of his forearm. It was definitely not there when he returned home yesterday, most probably it was due to Ari pulling him up on the bed.
“Fuck Pallas,” with a grin on his face, Nicolai rubbed his hands on his face. She was so freaking adorable, not only did she change the bedsheet but also helped him up on the bed. Did that mean she cared for him? Most certainly it did.
Of course with how organized that woman was, she would have found him sleeping on the floor annoying, which was why she pulled him up. But he was going to go with the latter.
Now he wished he could smack himself in the head. His Pallas pulled him off the floor and tucked him in the bed —and he let her. With all the tossing, she went through last night, she should have been resting instead of pulling a mountain of a man up on the bed.
Nicolai pulled himself up from the bed as he strode out of his room, he pushed open the door and called out tentatively, “Pallas?”
Instinctively, he knew that she wasn’t in the penthouse, if she were, then he would have sensed her. From her clothes to her scent everything was missing. If not for the fact that there was a light stinging sensation on his back—Nicolai would have believed that last night was just a dream.
Ari had cleaned after herself that nicely. Other than his lingering scent, he couldn’t find her traces. It was as if Ari wanted to pretend that last night never took place.
Which was not going to happen.
Nicolai had to admit that last night was the best night of his life. The fact alone that he finally got Ari in his bed had little to do with the giddiness that he felt.
The way she cried out his name and held on to him. Her searing kisses, the way she grabbed hold of his arms as he drove inside of him. Half of the time, she was demanding him to go faster —and Nicolai loved every bit of it.
He wished Ari had stayed — but with how she had wished to only have a fleeting presence, he wasn’t surprised that she was gone. And the disappointment he felt scared the shit out of Nicolai.
“What the fuck is wrong with me?” He thought as he made his way towards his bathing room. As he pushed open the door, he noticed that everything had been cleaned here as well.
He usually did not want his fuck buddies to stay the night either in fact, they were not even allowed up here in his penthouse. He typically took them home, spent the night and left as soon as he was done.
And somehow, if one or two of them somehow did stay the night at the pub or somewhere else, he would want them gone.
So why the heck, does he want Ari to stay?
Maybe it had something to do with the fact that he was clinging onto her while the rest clung to him.
Nicolai rubbed his hands on his face and took a quick bath, once he was done, he went straight to hunt for his phone which might have fallen last night.
Once he tracked it down, he felt it buzz in his hands a few times before it came to a stop. Nicolai ignored every single message that was sent to him by his cousins, instead, he went straight to Ari’s text.
His gaze fell on the red circle surrounding her picture, which he tapped only for her usual story of Timmy popping out.
“Did I not give it my all?” Nicolai wondered as he looked at her story. That woman was already up and about as if nothing happened last night.
He shook his head while heading towards his kitchen where he turned the coffee machine on. Looking at the text exchange with Ari, Nicolai’s fingers hovered over the keypad.
What was he supposed to send her anyway?
Should he ask her why she ran away after last night? Nah. That sounded freaking clingy.
Then what?

Something that would make him look less desperate? But was that even possible?
Last night, he drove to this place with the sole intention of fucking her and getting her out of the system. She was supposed to be a good fuck and nothing more. Similar to how his mother asked him, he was going to discard her the second he got what he wanted.
But that was before she let him do all the bad things to her before she looked at him with those twinkling eyes and called his name.
It was hilarious to think that she was the cause of his brain going into a frenzy and yet, Ari was the one who channelled that energy into one direction before swallowing it up.
Pallas matched her energy with his until he was back where he was supposed to be.
She made him feel alive.
