Chapter 455: Will you help me hide a body (2)
Nicolai walked over to the cabinet from where he pulled out the first aid box. When Ari saw him taking out the box, she asked, “Did you move it from the living hall?”
“No,” Nicolai replied as he got to his feet. He walked over to where she was sitting and said to her, “Because of my line of work, I get injured all the time. Thus, I have a First aid box in every room. Who knows where I might faint after getting shot? It is better to have one in every room so that I can have immediate care.”
“I will lose too much blood if I look for it.”
He placed the box on the bed before taking out a cotton pad and solution to clean blood. This was a special liquid that was used by his club whenever they went to hunt.
“So, What happened? Why did she come here did you open the door for her?”
“No.. she was already inside the penthouse. I don’t know how she got inside— she was hiding in the penthouse somewhere and came looking for me. She thought that I was the cause of what happened to Ariel… But I have no idea— where Ariel is at the moment,” Ari’s voice was small and there was still a trace of shock in it. She couldn’t believe that she had killed someone. How could she kill anyone?
No matter how much she tried to calm down — Ari couldn’t get used to this feeling.
“She was already inside?” Nicolai narrowed his eyes as he wiped the blood off Ari’s neck and cleaned the wound that was still bleeding.
“Yes…” replied Ari after a pause she asked, “Will I have to go to jail?”
“Isn’t that how preppy people do things?” Nicolai asked back. “If I am not wrong they would definitely want to catch you and throw you in prison for killing your mother. Not to mention the sullying of your reputation.”
Ari sucked in a breath as she looked at Nicolai with a pale face.
“Or we can do things my way,” he told her.
Staring at him, she asked, “Your way?”
“The inelegant way — or the criminal way. We can make this body disappear without anyone finding out about it. I have done it countless times and I know how to do it. I can also wipe the traces clean,” Nicolai threw the bloodied cotton pad and snathed a new one which he pressed against her wound.
Ari winced as pain shot down her neck and up her head.
“Of course, if you chose the first option — I think that would be foolish of you, after all, no matter how good of a person you are. Serving a life sentence for a woman like Mrs Harlow will be foolish,” he told her with sarcasm dripping through every word.
Ari indeed wanted to confess her crimes after all, in her heart — no matter what kind of person Mrs Harlow was, she had no right to kill her. She was not God or the judge in a court. But somewhere, the part which had stabbed Mrs Harlow agreed with Nicolai. Indeed, why should she serve a life sentence for someone who had tormented her?
Her life had just started. Why should she ruin it for a woman who had ruined her and never once took mercy on her? It wasn’t as if she went out of her way and took revenge on Mrs Harlow.
She asked,
“Are you sure? I am certain that people saw her come here. With so much evidence scattered all over the place — how will I escape the sentence?”
Nicolai smiled at her and he replied, “You don’t need to worry about it. Like I told you, I have a lot of connections — I can certainly clear after you.”
“And these connections will help you in hiding a body?” Ari asked with her brows knitting together.
“Yup,” Nicolai nodded. “That’s their job. I am paying them for it.”
Once he had cleaned the blood off Ari’s neck, Nicolai noticed how deep the dagger had embedded in her skin. His eyes narrowed instinctively as he clenched his fingers. Good thing that the woman was dead, or else he would have skinned her and hung her upside down by a tree in broad daylight.
He took out his phone and called Kayden asking him to come to his penthouse.
It took him thirty minutes to arrive and by the time he marched up the stairs, Ari’s wounds were treated.
“What the fuck is going on, Nico?” A booming voice echoed in the hallways and Ari flinched.
“Relax,” Nicolai told her as he knew that she was worried and scared. “It is only my cousin.”
He turned to look at the door and shouted, “Shut it asshole, be a bit more quiet.”
“Ohohoho,” Kayden jeered as he sauntered inside the bedroom. “Since when did you …” he paused as he caught a whiff of the scent of blood in the room. He turned and looked at the corpse that was lying on the floor. When he realised that Nicolai had killed a woman right in his bedroom— Kayden’s eyes widened.

“What the fuck Nico? Why did you kill a woman in your bedroom? Just how hard you went on her? And isn’t she too old for you?”
Nicolai glared at him. “I didn’t do shit mother…” he paused realising that Kayden’s mother was his aunt and held back his tongue. He sighed and said, “I need you to do some cleanup, Kayden. Deal with the surveillance recording of tonight and that guard. Throw off any traces left behind by this woman. Anyone who saw Marcia Harlow is going to be dealt with, you hear me? Don’t leave any trail behind.”
Away from the penthouse, Penelope was looking up at the building in front of her. She ignored the catcalls of the men who were leering at her as she knew that they couldn’t do anything to her. But at the same time, she felt flattered by the attention that was being given to her.
If only Nicolai was willing to give her attention like this.
‘But what is he doing upstairs? Why isn’t he coming down?’ Penelope thought as she looked at the time on her phone. It was still far from Nicolai’s sleeping hours, so why?
A part of her wanted to leave but another one wanted to stay and try. Maybe she might run into Nicolai again?
As long as she showed her sincerity, Penelope was certain that Nicolai would see through her intentions.
With proper effort, a person could even move a mountain. What was a man?
