Chapter 461: Interrogation
On the other side, Mr Harlow was nursing his recently recovered leg. He looked at the screen of his phone and muttered angrily, “Where is that woman? Does she not know that it is already time for me to go and play cards?”
Mr Harlow was addicted to gambling and couldn’t stay put without throwing a few cards and winning a few rounds. Even if he lost the money after the next few rounds, he had to play.
Usually, it was Mrs Harlow who handed him the money as he had none of his own. However, even after waiting for three hours, he couldn’t see the money in his account which made him troubled and angry.
Not to mention, she did not send any money to him last night for the alcohol that he wanted to buy.
The more he thought about it, the more angry Mr Harlow became. He paced in his bedroom before pulling out his phone and calling Aaron.
“Whats the matter?” Aaron picked up the call of his father after the fourth ring as he knew that the man was rather persistent when he needed something.
Given that his father was calling him, Aaron knew that the man wanted something from him.
“Aaron,” Mr Harlow tugged at the back of his hair and said to his son, “Give me some money quickly. Your mother, she was supposed to give me money last night but she didn’t send me a penny.”
“Mom?” Aaron paused in his actions as he stood up from the chair on which he was sitting and walked out of the office. “Are you in contact with her? Did you not say that you had no idea where she was?”
How could Mr Harlow care about such a thing at that moment? He only wanted and needed money for his game and liquor.
“She asked me not to tell you. She promised that she would give me double the amount of money that she usually gives me,” Mr Harlow said to his son, without caring about the promise that he had made to his wife. “Anyway, that is not important. What is important is that you give me the money, Aaron. I have a really important game that I need to play this afternoon.”
Aaron however did not give him the money. Instead, he asked, “Mom hasn’t contacted you an entire night and you only care about the money?” He was speechless by the heartlessness of his father.
“Why are you getting angry at me? That woman has been like this since I married her. She disappears for days before returning,” Mr Harlow said angrily, he was thoroughly annoyed by the fact that Aaron was not giving him the money that he wanted and needed.
It was as if he was wasting his precious time when he could be playing an exciting game of cards. “Why are you harping on her disappearance? Just hand me the money.”
“Dad…” Aaron pinched the bridge of his nose feeling annoyed and angry. He couldn’t believe it. It was bad enough that his mother had run away from the house the second she sensed that something was amiss but to cap it all his father actually hid the truth from him.
He actually knew where his mother was and where she was hiding but that man kept mum for the sake of money.
“Tell me where mom is hiding,” Aaron said to the man on the other side of the phone. “Tell me the truth or you can forget about the money.”
“I am your father, Aaron. How can you actually—”
“You and I both know how much of a fatherly responsibility you have fulfilled,” Aaron interrupted his father as he was not in the mood to listen to his sermons and scoldings. Especially not when his father had never taken any sort of responsibility towards them.
He said to Mr Harlow, “Either you tell the truth to me or I will end this call.”
“Wait..wait…” Mr Harlow spoke hurriedly. He clicked his tongue wondering how he got a son as stubborn as this one before replying, “She is living at our old apartment. Now give me — Aaron? AARON!”
Mr Harlow pulled the phone from his ear and then looked down at the screen. When he saw that the call truly ended, he was so angry that he wished to tear someone’s heart out because his heart was being torn!
How dare he! How could he end the call just like that?
He was that bastard’s father!
On the other hand, Aaron did not care about Mr Harlow’s anger. He walked over to the office which belonged to his boss and asked him before taking half a day’s leave.
After that, he rushed to the police station. After all, his mother was involved in a crime which she needed to answer and be punished for, without knowing the consequences of his actions.

“Miss Harlow?” Ari raised her head and sucked in a breath when she saw two policemen step inside the ward which belonged to Millie.
Millie who was playing with her new canvas and drawing parallel green lines raised her head and jumped when she saw the two officers. Her eyes flickered to them and then at Ariana.
She looked extremely worried as she peered at Ariana who was standing in the middle of the ward.

“What can I do for you officers?” Ariana offered them a smile as she patted Millie on the back of her hand.
The man on the right, dressed in a navy blue uniform introduced himself, “Good afternoon, Miss Harlow. I am Robert Hustings and this right here is my colleague, Rupert Anderson. We need your cooperation regarding a little case that has been brought forth in front of us.”
“A case?”
“Your mother, Mrs Marcia Harlow is reported missing. Do you know anything about it?”
