Chapter 464: A step closer to the truth?
“Alright,” though Ari did not like Penelope as a woman, she was also a doctor, and would never put her emotions as a priority while treating a patient. She took the report from the nurse and thanked the man for bringing it over.
Once the nurse was gone, she opened the report and started reading it thoroughly. Even though she was not the attending doctor of Penelope, she was still the assistant of her attending doctor.
In case Penelope needed immediate surgery, she could at least help Aiden with it.
However, as she read through the report, her eyebrows couldn’t help but furrow.
Blood Group: A +
“A+,” Ari mused while looking at the report as she was suddenly reminded of the day when they needed to provide Emil with a blood transfusion.
‘I am O positive,’ Emil told her when she asked him what his blood group was. ‘Everyone in my family has O positive blood group.’
That was what the man had told her and if she wasn’t wrong with all the years that she had wasted on her education then there was no way two O-positive parents could have an A+ child.
In some rare cases if both of the parents were heterozygous for the Rh factor they might have an O- child.
But the chances of having an A+ child were second to none.
So how come Penelope’s reports turned out to be A+?
She frowned and got to her feet before stepping past the table and walking over to the cabinet where Aiden kept the reports of his patients.
As Penelope was a special patient, Aiden had kept her file away from the others which made things simpler.
She checked the old reports and made sure that she was not thinking incorrectly before heading out of the office.
Three minutes later she arrived at the pathology center.
“Doctor Harlow?” When one of the doctors at the pathology centre saw Ariana, she stopped and greeted her with a smile on her face. “Is something the matter?”
“This report,” Ariana asked with her heart thumping wildly. “Is there something wrong with the report?” She relayed the information that she knew as well as the old reports that Aiden had in his office. “However the current report says that her blood group is A+.”
The doctor at the pathology centre was stunned upon hearing Ari’s words. She took the reports from Ari and when she was done looking at her, she was both surprised and angry.
“I am really sorry for the trouble, Doctor Harlow. But it seems like our previous worker made a mistake,” she told Ari. “He was fired a few days ago by the hospital for doing the same thing with many other reports.”
Fired? Ari’s brows furrowed even more when she heard that the man was fired from his job.
She asked, “Did he do the same thing with other reports or was it just this one?”
The doctor pursed her lips and replied, “We have no idea, it’s just that Doctor Aiden came to the pathology clinic a few days ago and called for the man to come outside with him. The next thing we know — that man was fired from his job, we never heard anything about him.”
“These reports are conducted by the new assistant that was hired yesterday,” she added.
With the man gone, Ari had no idea what was going on. How come Penelope Ashford turned out to have an A+ positive blood group when her brother himself said that no one had a different blood group in their family?
Not to mention, the old reports of Penelope stated clearly that she was an O+.
Ari wondered if Aiden knew something that she didn’t and before coming to a sudden conclusion, she might as well wait for a while and ask him.
As hours passed in the hospital, Ari tried to find a valid conclusion for the sudden change of Penelope’s blood group, similar to how she had been trying to find one for her own.
However, no matter how much she endeavoured to dumb down— a certain possibility came crashing into her head again and again.
What if …
Ari shook her head and squashed down the hope that was bubbling in her heart. No, she couldn’t allow herself to hope like a fool when she did not even have valid evidence.

First, she needed to get her hands on some evidence which would prove that she was truly one of the Ashfords.
A yawn escaped her lips as she stopped reading the reports that were sent to Aiden by the Ashford family. Ari laid her head down on the table and decided to take a quick nap,
As minutes ticked by Ari ended up dozing off, and when she opened her eyes, she was standing in the middle of a small house. The Harlow residence.
She frowned and looked around only to find out that the things inside were too big, and she was too small compared to them.
What was going on?
“Where am I?” She asked no one in particular.
Hearing a creek she turned to look at the person behind and was surprised to find the masked man standing right behind her.
“Ariana,” he purred her name as he stepped close to her. “Sweetie, come here. Look what I have brought for you?” As he spoke he waved the brilliant red lipstick in his hand. “You will look charming in this sweetheart.”
No.
Ari heard herself say and soon, she was standing right next to her childlike self while watching the scene unfold in front of her.
The man was edging close to her as he ignored her refusal while Mrs Harlow simperingly smiled at the man, “Oh goodness you are here?” She turned to look at little Ari before saying to her, “Now, Ariana be good to Mister Roman, after all, he is the one who is going to take good care of you in the future.”
