Chapter 530: Nicolai’s girlfriend
“There is no need,” Ariana stopped Penelope. She was rather calm in comparison to Penelope, who resembled a maniac.

Penelope heaved a sigh of relief. It was a good thing that Ariana knew her place and understood that she was not worthy of hearing an apology from her.

Theodore turned and looked at Ariana, and so did Nicolai, but he did not say anything to stop her. He knew that Ariana was kind, but she was not foolishly kind.

“You should let her apologise,” Ariana heard her father say to her. “This is what she owes you.”

“I know,” Ariana softly smiled at Theodore before saying to him, “However, an apology only matters when the one saying it knows what they have done wrong. From what I can see, Penelope doesn’t seem to have the slightest inkling about the things that she had done wrong. Nor is she willing to accept it.”

“Since that is the case, what’s the point of listening to empty words? I would rather not hear it. It will be less disappointing in case there is a repetition,” She sounded composed, but every word seemed to be stripping a layer of Penelope’s skin.

Didn’t Ariana mean to say that Penelope would repeat her mistakes again?

Nicolai chuckled lightly. Indeed, his Pallas were still the same.

She pretended to be fine with just about anything, but deep down, she was petty and a bit manipulative at times. Look at this; she spoke these words because she wanted the situation to work in the exact way that she wanted. Wasn’t she telling the family indirectly that if something were to happen to her again in the future, it would be Penelope’s fault?

She was truly picky, standoffish, and controlling.

And of course she was sulking and grumpy too.

But Nicolai did not find her annoying if anything; she was adorable in his eyes.

Penelope, on the other hand, did not find Ariana adorable; she found her annoying and arrogant. She glared at the woman who had taken her place and was now trying to egg her family against her.

“You don’t have to worry about this anymore, Ariana.” Mateo looked at Penelope with a hint of anger and warning in his eyes. “There is no way she would make a move again on you. This is your family, your place, and your house, and she is an outsider. If anything, it’s your mercy that is letting her stay in this family and house; since that is the case, Penelope will show you the due respect that you deserve.”

Penelope trembled when she heard the harsh words of Mateo. This was what she had feared and now that it was coming true, her eyes couldn’t help but turn red. She stood up in a hurry and sent the chair flying back with a screech.

No one! No one was willing to stand up for her. She had finally become an outsider in her own family, and it was all Ariana’s fault. She was not going to let this matter slide!

Theodore shook his head when he saw his adopted daughter running away while sobbing. He then turned to look at Ariana, who immediately pulled her hand free from Nicolai’s grip as she knew that her father did not agree and accepted her relationship with him.

Nicolai knew that Ariana was once again sliding behind the vault where she usually hid.

Not so freaking fast.

He heard Theodore say just as he sent a message to Ariana, “I am sorry, Ariana. Though you are right, there is no point in listening to an apology that does not come from the heart, but I still think and believe that you deserve an apology.”

[You are being so cold; you can pay me a little attention.]

Ariana looked down at her phone subtly before her eyes widened, and she pulled the phone in her lap before anyone could see what Nicolai had sent her. She smiled at Theodore and shook her head before saying to him, “There is no need. It wasn’t you who made me suffer.”

At the same time, she sent a message to Nicolai.

[Will you stop?]

[Aww, but why?]

[Because my parents are right here!]

Ariana glared at the screen of the phone as if wishing to drill a hole in Nicolai’s head.

[Don’t worry, I will be on my best behaviour, princess.]

Ariana’s lips curled slightly, but she pushed it down almost at once, but she was a second late because he saw it. Truthfully, he wished he could lean down and kiss her right in front of her parents to stake his claim, but he knew that if he did that, then Theodore would ban him from ever coming to his house while Ariana would surely start hiding from him again.

As he spoke, he sent a dirty picture that he clicked in the morning.

That’s right, he did it right in front of Ariana’s parents, but what was he supposed to do? She was the one who refused to hold his hand; if she did, then he would not be free enough to do such a thing.

Ariana almost jumped out of her chair when she saw the picture that Nicolai had sent to her, she raised her foot and kicked the man on the shin when she heard Kayden say,

“So he is the one who did that to Penelope? Shit, and here I thought that she was his girlfriend.”

His words caused her to pause and look up.

“He has a girlfriend?” Emil asked with a slight raise of his voice.

“He sure as hell does,” Kayden sighed as he drank his orange juice. “But he is not telling me with whom he is with. I thought it was Penelope but now I think it has to be Marie or Lillian.”
