“Did you find him?” Ariana called Aiden for the tenth time; she didn’t know how she had kept herself intact and together till now. All she knew was that the second she found out that Nicolai was missing, her heart fell somewhere around her stomach.

Usually she would have cared what her mother thought or what she was thinking, but in front of the question of Nicolai’s safety, Ariana did not care about anything. She only wanted—no, she needed to know that he was fine.

At that moment, she did not give two flying fucks about what her father told her or what her brothers asked her to do. No one was going to stop her from looking for that mountain of the man. And if her father thought that she was being a disappointment by doing so, she might as well be a great one.

So, she left her home and started looking for Nicolai all over the city. No matter where it was, she went to bars, pubs, and even sex clubs where she had never stepped foot in all her life.

But if it meant finding Nicolai, Ariana didn’t really care.

The thought of something happening to Nicolai was simply too much for her to bear.

“We are looking for him,” Aiden replied; he sounded harassed and worried. “Zena has procured the surveillance recording of the bar where Nicolai went last night. From the looks of it, some masked men kidnapped him.”

“Masked men?” Ariana spoke calmly, but her breathing had long turned stagnant.

“Yes, I believe that it is because of revenge,” Aiden stated while he drove the car and turned to the right. “I told that idiot not to make so much trouble, but that cousin of mine seemed to have lost his mind. He actually went around causing trouble and burning the warehouses and meeting locations of Serpents. No wonder they retaliated.”

He paused when he heard a beep and said to Ariana, “I will call you later on. Kay is calling me; I think he found something. But just in case you see a black Sunran with heavily modified features, make sure to call us.”

Ariana slumped to the pavement when she heard Aiden’s words. What did she do? How could she be so selfish and cowardly? Nicolai did so much for her; he even went against the Serpents because he knew that a masked man had once made things difficult for her.

It was all for her.

And now he was kidnapped because of her.

Ariana clutched her chest and slowed her breathing down.

It was all because of her.

“Are you okay?” Someone in the crowd stopped when they saw a woman sitting on the side of the pavement.

Ariana raised her head and looked at the man who was standing in front of her and was stunned when she saw it was Noah.

“Ariana—what are you doing here?” Noah asked while looking at the woman in front of him.

“I–I am fine,” Ariana stood up shakily. She had to look for Nicolai; it had been a night and a half a day; who knows what condition he might be in at the moment?

That man kidnapped him because she dared to get entangled with Nicole. It was her responsibility to find him no matter how!

However, she did not even take three steps when Ariana staggered and fell on the street, but before her knees scraped over the pavement, a strong arm caught her and pulled her back.

Noah looked down at Ariana, who was visibly shaken up. He thought for a moment and said, “Are you looking for Nicolai?”

“You know about it?” Ariana asked.

“Yes,” Noah nodded as he helped her stand up. “Zena—she rushed out of the bridal shopping when she received a message. She told my mother that her brother was kidnapped.”

Noah studied her expression when he disclosed this information and felt his heart break for another time when he noticed that Ariana did not seem to have any reaction towards the information of his marriage with Zena.

“Zena? Isn’t she —”

“Nicolai’s adopted sister. She is getting married to me; just don’t tell Nicolai; he doesn’t know anything about it,” Noah said to her.

Ariana frowned before asking, “Then did she tell you anything?”

If only someone told her that Nicolai was fine, it would be enough for her.

Noah shook his head. When he saw the disappointed look on her face, he said to her, ” But I can ask her, if you want?”

“No,” Ariana shook her head. Though she needed help, she still held her rationality intact, no matter what; her relationship with Noah was not simple. In fact, it would be right to say that it was complicated.

And she feared Nicolai’s reaction.

“Thank you but I will deal with this matter,” Ariana smiled at him and turned around to leave but before she could take another step, Noah caught hold of her wrist and said to her,

“Ariana, I know that you feel this matter is inappropriate, and it might seem like you are taking advantage of me.” He drew in a breath before adding in a hurried manner, “But you don’t even know where he is or where he was taken to; don’t you think that it’s better for you to leave this matter to me? I can help you.”

He paused before adding, “Just take it as a form of apology for all the shit I have pulled on you.”

Ariana turned to look at him with a complicated look in her eyes, but after a few seconds she nodded, and Noah heaved a sigh of relief.

He immediately contacted Zena as well as Edward.

The two of them returned the same address in fifteen minutes.

“He is at the harbour,” Noah replied as he placed his phone in his pants pockets. He turned to look at Ariana and said to her, “Let’s go.”

Ariana didn’t waste any time either, as she slid in the car. The two of them rushed to the harbour only to hear a loud explosion that shook the ground.
