Chapter 551: Burn the world for you (2)
“You are worrying for no reason,” he told her. “I chose the night when most of the families with kids left the building. Winter vacations and all.”
“Your house is burning down,” the reporter said to a woman who was close friends with Arabella. “How do you feel?”
The woman was crying with worry when she saw that the apartment that she and her husband had brought with their life savings was slowly getting swallowed by the fire.
Thus, when she heard the question of the reporter, the woman turned and glared at the news reporter angrily.
“I feel happy! I am so happy that my tears are flowing! Can’t you see my house is on fire? Get lost if you cannot help me!”
Ariana did not expect Nicolai to burn the entire apartment down for her. She blinked her eyes and said to him, “I thought you were done punishing them. Why did you have to—”
“You are wrong,” Nicolai leaned down and buried his face in the crook of her neck before saying to her, “I did not get a chance to shoot everyone on that day. I was worried that the sight would turn too bloody and they screamed like a bitch; sooner or later they would have attracted the attention of some justice-loving bastard. So, I had to get creative.”
He then looked up at her and smirked, “Are you happy?”
Ariana shook her head as she whispered, “You are simply crazy.”
The smile on Nicolai’s lips widened as he leaned up and kissed her on the lips. “But you like me, right?” He then looked down at the bonfire that he started and hummed, “It’s beautiful, isn’t it?”
Ariana sighed. She knew that Nicolai held a different perspective than most when it came to a number of things but she never thought that he was capable of burning an entire apartment building.
Even though he did it for her, Ariana still felt that he was in the wrong.
“You didn’t have to do it, Nico.” Ariana shook her head and pushed him away from her. “You really went too far.”
“Did I?” Nicolai asked. Whether he was asking her or commenting with amusement as if he thought that she was being too much of a worrywart,Ariana had no idea.
Ariana closed the phone and nodded before saying, “Of course you did. Though these people did something wrong, they did not deserve to lose their livelihood. Most of them took loans to buy these houses; with the fire burning most of their valuables, I believe they will have no choice but to live in run-down houses and those who did nothing wrong. What about them?”
“Do they deserve to lose their house because of some people who did not know how to control their mouths?” She paused and covered her face with her hands. “I didn’t even ask Danny to sell the apartment. If I had known, I would have asked him to do it.”
“I will make sure to let you know about it next time.”
Ariana dropped her hands and glared at Nicolai. “It will be better if you don’t do it from the start. I hope that you have at least arranged for good insurance money for Danny. He did nothing wrong.”
“Don’t worry; if it’s money that you are worried about, I assure you. Your friend will get the money that he had lost with the apartment burning down.”
“You still went to the extreme, Nicolai.”
Nicolai shrugged and said without feeling the slightest bit guilty, “It’s not my fault. It’s theirs. If they had repented the things that they did, then I would have never made a move on them. But do you know what they did?”
“They started spreading a new rumour. Where they said that Uncle Theodore was keeping you and it was a lie that you were his long-lost daughter. See? They do not care about the scare they received. A few days of fear and they turned around and started doing the same thing all over again.”
“They do such things because they know that they will not be caught or punished.”
“Like you,” she questioned with a helpless glare.
Ariana couldn’t help but feel worried for Nicolai. She thought that with her accompanying him, he would tone the crazy down a little bit; instead, it seemed like she had made his craziness spur out of control. At least in the past, he was a bit sneaky but now he was getting simply out of control.
His eyes held this maniacal energy with such tenderness that she did not know what to think of it.
He smiled at her and said, “There is a difference. I own my actions; if I get caught, I will admit proudly that I did it but these people? They only know how to shirk, cry, and then repeat their mistakes. At least this way they will know how to control and regulate their actions. Do you think that they will not realise that it was me who did it? They will and that will scare them enough to act like a good person all their life.”
“If you think that I was done with them, then you were certainly wrong, princess. I was done with those who hurt you physically but with those who hurt you mentally, I was nowhere done with them.”
“So you burnt an entire building down?” Ariana sighed heavily.
“They need a life lesson,” he playfully grinned at her. “I am helping them learn this very important life lesson.”

She shook her head and Nicolai’s grin faltered as he reached forward and touched the reddish marks on her neck. “What the fuck is this?”
Ariana didn’t understand what he was asking until he touched the tender skin on her neck and made her wince.
“Oh this—” She sighed as she relayed the happenings of the night to Nicolai. “Don’t be angry; I am fine.” She took his hands in hers when she saw his expression turn mutinous.
