“Other than a crisscross-faced woman?? I don’t think he was missing out on anything,” joked Emil while tapping on the screen of his phone. “I am sure he will be returning you in three halves once this marriage is done.”

Theodore looked at his adopted daughter before sighing, “Then when are you moving out?”

“What did you say?” Penelope’s smile flickered as she looked at her father with an innocent expression. “Of course, I am going to move out after marrying Nicolai but what’s the hurry—”

“I am asking about before your wedding,” Theodore stated coldly. “I told you that no daughter of mine shall marry in the Phantoms or the Serpents. Since you clearly take my words as bullshit, surely you have already decided to move out and stay with your biological father?”

“Pshh, Penelope, you are really good,” Emil chortled. “You made our father curse. This is the first time I have heard him curse.”

Theodore turned his head and glared at his youngest son, who lowered his head and muttered, “Sorry.”

Penelope’s mouth fell open. Clearly, she had not expected such a thing to happen; after all, even if she wanted to let go of the Ashford family, she never wanted to break ties with them so openly.

“Dad, do you really have to be so harsh on me?” Penelope said, trying to reason with Theodore. “I mean… It’s not a big deal. I am not even the Ashford’s heiress, even if I marry Nicolai, no one will say anything.”

“And I am only going to stay for a few days. Once Nicolai marries me, I promise I will never involve our family with the mess of the two gangs.”

“No,” Theodore absolutely refused to let Penelope stay with them. He said to her, “Either you move out today or break that marriage. You have either of these two options and if you refuse to choose either one, I will make the decision for you.”

Penelope’s expression cooled down as she looked at her adoptive father; she said to him, “Do you really want to do this? Because if you do, then I don’t mind making a post on how you have abandoned me.”

Ariana sucked in a breath and so did the rest.

Though the four siblings were fine, the ones who were shocked the most were Theodore and Kaylyn.

“What did you say?” Kaylyn got to her feet. She stared at Penelope, whom she had raised since she was a baby and questioned in a loud voice, “What did you just say now? Are you threatening us? After everything we have done for you?”

“Oh, puh-lease.” Penelope rolled her eyes as if the woman was being way too over dramatic. “You did what you had to do, alright? Because you were the ones who took home the wrong baby. You only treated me well because you thought that I was your own. And what happened once you found out that I wasn’t?”

“You fucking abandoned me. Look at my face; look at my condition in this home.” Penelope didn’t think that she was in the wrong. She was certain that she was doing the right thing. Since everyone abandoned her, then it was right for her to abandon them.

She shrugged her shoulders and said, “I bet if I were to post this face of mine on the internet, someone would definitely call the police or the welfare people.”

“It was done by the man whom you are bent on marrying,” Theodore snapped with his teeth gritted. “You are going to marry him and yet you use this injury that was done by him to blackmail us? Have you lost your mind, Penelope?”

“He did it because you didn’t support me!” Penelope yelled right back. “If you had fucking stopped him, then nothing like this would have happened! I am telling you, not only am I going to get married from this house but you all will have to damn well arrange everything for me or else…”

She raised her hand and pointed at Ariana before threatening, “Or else I will blame this injury on her as well as tell everyone that she killed her mother.”

“I did no such thing,” Ariana refused to admit to the claim that Penelope made. At the same time, she understood why Nicolai was willing to marry this woman, not that it hurt any less. She wondered. what Nicolai had in his mind because she knew that he was not the kind of man who would agree to something he didn’t wish to do.

Penelope scoffed as she turned to look at Ariana with her arms crossed. She moved her head in a taunting manner before saying, “Do you think I don’t have any evidence before making such claims? I do. And you know what? Even if I don’t, your relationship with her was so bad that everyone will believe whatever I say to them.”

She then turned to look at the rest of the family and questioned, “Do you want to take such a risk with her reputation?”

“I should have kicked you the very day I found out that you were not my daughter!” Theodore screamed as he pointed at Penelope. He was not only disappointed but also absolutely livid. He knew that Penelope was arrogant but he never thought that she was this selfish.

For the sake of her desires and needs, she was willing to throw away their family. She was willing to do anything, use anything to push them on the brink.

All to marry a man who would never love or respect her.

Penelope glared at the man who had chosen to abandon her and yet said such mighty words. She raised her head proudly and sneered, “There is no need for you to say such nice-sounding words; we all know that you have no emotions or feelings for me. If you could, you would have done it long ago.”

“The only reason you didn’t was because of your reputation and yet you act like you did me a favour? Like I owe you something? Bullshit, I owe you nothing! If anything, you owe it to me! You should have never accepted this bitch into this family!”

“She is my daughter!” Theodore brought his hand down as he glared at Penelope. “She is my daughter who deserves to be here and you don’t. You want to marry Nicolai? Fine. You shall marry him but after that, you are done. Never show your face to me ever again.
