His actions caught the attention of Penelope who looked at him with a frown on her face.

She stepped forward and picked up the documents that he had thrown at her face and the more she read them, the more her breathing turned haggard. She raised her head and looked at Nicolai before questioning angrily, “What is the meaning of this?”

He was actually making her sign a prenup and not just any prenup but one that stated that she had to stay away from his life after the two of them got married and she would have no rights to his properties. Thus, even if the two of them were married, they would be separate individuals!

This was not the kind of life that Penelope wanted, the life that she wanted was one where she would not only marry Nicolai but would also step on Ariana and make her suffer.

“This is what you wanted,” Nicolai shrugged without an ounce of regret or guilt on his face. He smiled at the woman in front of him and said to her, “Since you refused to understand what I was trying to do when I refused you kindly, then you might as well suffer the consequences of your actions. Of course if you want then you can also run away. I will report you missing.”

Nicolai had no desire to see this woman walk down the aisle nor did he want to take her hand in his. He didn’t even wish to bother himself with such things.

Penelope blinked her eyes in surprise and asked, “You want me to go missing?”

“That’s right,” Nicolai nodded without bothering to hide his desires. “It will be better if you disappear until you die.”

He was actually telling her to go to hell!

Penelope clenched her fingers before saying, “I have no such intentions.”

“No?” Nicolai showed a sympathetic expression. “That’s such a shame.”

He got to his feet and then stepped forward before saying to the woman, “I hope your stubbornness will lead you somewhere else other than an early grave.” He smiled when Penelope raised her head and looked at him with shock in her eyes.

“What did you think? That once you successfully blackmailed me into marrying you, would you live a comfortable and happy life?” Nicolai taunted. “Sorry to break your bubble, Penelope. There is no such thing as a comfortable life for you if you continue down this path.”

He walked out of the office, leaving Penelope swaying on the spot as she watched the man close the door behind him as he stepped out. He actually wanted to kill her!

Her! She had been with him for so long but now he wanted to kill her because of that woman!

Nicolai knew that the words that he spoke to Penelope would only make the woman lose her mind but he still deliberately said those words. The more he played with the mind of that woman, the more she would make a mistake.

Anyway, he couldn’t kill her like a certain someone.

He pushed open the door of the small prison in the basement of his house and looked at the man who was tied in the chair.

Mister Harlow’s eyes widened when he saw Nicolai step inside the room. He quivered like a leaf and wanted to hide but his limbs tied, he could not do anything. He could only watch Nicolai get closer and closer.

He couldn’t understand how such a thing happened. Penelope obviously said that this man did not harm anyone who was innocent, so why was he captured and brought here?

“Mhmm…mhmmm!” Mister Harlow struggled on the chair and Nicolai raised a brow as he looked at the man jumping and hopping in the chair. He arched a brow and then looked at the guard behind Mister Harlow before asking, “What’s wrong with this man? Why did you tape his mouth?”

“He screams like a bitch,” replied his guard with his pinky in his ear.

“He does, doesn’t he?” Nicolai grinned and remarked. He glanced at Mister Harlow and remarked, “No wonder he gave birth to a bitch.”

He stepped forward and peeled off the tape that was on Mister Harlow’s mouth.

“Mister de Luca! Mister De Luca let go of me… I was momentarily confused; I will not do it again,” Mister Harlow begged.

He was really afraid that he would be killed and stuffed in an old cremation hall like his wife.

“What’s wrong?” Nicolai asked with a sweet smile as he crouched down until he was face to face with Mister Harlow. “Were you not really confident last time you saw me? Even threatened me to marry your daughter. What’s the matter now? Cat got your tongue?”

“I—I didn’t know… I had no idea—” Mister Harlow wanted to cry tears of regret. He was beaten black and blue when he went drinking last night with the money that Penelope gave to him. He thought that his good time was going to start very soon; who would have thought that he would be kidnapped and brought here. “It was that girl! She was the one who lied to me. She said to me, you don’t harm innocent people.”

“And she is right; I don’t harm anyone who has never done any wrong.”

Hearing Nicolai’s response, Mister Harlow was dazed as he asked, “Then you—why are you…?”

Nicolai smiled at the bewildered expression on the face of Mister Harlow. He stood back up on his feet before walking over to the side of the room, where he picked up a baseball bat that was wrapped with wire. He turned on his feet and returned to where he was standing before.

With a twisted smile, he raised the bat in his hands before saying, “But you are not innocent, are you, Mister Harlow? Child trafficking, drunk driving, and killing someone? Do you think you can be counted as someone who is innocent?”

“No—no…wait…” Mister Harlow’s eyes widened in shock when he realised that Nicolai knew the things that no one did. He tried to struggle and fight but —
