Chapter 570: Mysterious message
Regal sighed before shutting down the laptop. He turned to look at her and said, “Are you trying to get me killed? If anyone from your family sees us together, they would bury me alive—”
“I told you that I am only here to talk to you.” Glynn placed her hand on Regal’s and said to him, “I just wanted to clear up the misunderstanding between the two of us. Truly, Regal—I… I had no idea that my mother said those things to you. If I had known then, I would have run away from home to be with you.”
If she had run away from home, then it would be his skin that would have been peeled off, thought Regal when he recalled the warnings that Mrs. Nelson had given to him when he was dating Glynn. He requested, “Glynn, you should go back. It was I who tried to reach way past my station and did something wrong. I have learnt my lesson and I will never bother you again.”
If someone had told him that he would be saying these words six months ago, he would have laughed at them. After all, he was filled with pride and hurt back then, but now that he had calmed down, Regal realised that nothing was more important than his family.
All he wanted was for his mother to get better and live a comfortable life.
“What will I do after going back?” Glynn asked. Her eyes turned teary as she questioned Regal, “Are you upset with the things that I have said? But aren’t you at fault as well? If you hadn’t been with that woman, do you think I would have believed her lies and thought that you had betrayed me?”
Regal looked at her tearful gaze and sighed helplessly. Back then he had no choice; he could only accept the offer made to him in exchange for his mother’s treatment. Only then did he realise how important it was for him to work hard and earn money.
Regal moved to one side; he pushed his laptop with him and while maintaining a proper distance with Glynn, he said to her, “It doesn’t matter. The things that have happened have already happened. We should just forget about them and move on.”
“Are you giving up on me?” Glynn asked in shock. She reached forward to hold Regal’s arm but the man stood up and stepped aside to make sure that the woman didn’t touch him.
He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose before saying to Glynn, “I am not—Miss Nelson, let me clear this up for you. When I got together with you, I had no idea that you were the daughter of a conglomerate. If I had known, do you think that I would have gotten together with you?”
“You hid your identity from me—and—and I paid for it. I think the two of us are finally even, don’t you think? So why are you entangling with me any further?”
Glynn stepped forward, feeling hurt that Regal was denying her. She said to him, “But I really love you. I want to be with you and I also wish to marry you—”
“NO!” Regal responded and Glynn’s brows furrowed even more, causing the man to pinch his brows.
“You don’t want to marry me?” Glynn asked slowly.
“How dare I think of marrying the heiress of the Nelson family?” Regal smiled at her mockingly. “Your mother has long warned me not to touch what I am not supposed to, as I am nothing but a beggar who cannot give anything to you and I admit that I agree with her.”
“You don’t have to!” Glynn exclaimed agitatedly. “I—I really want to be with you, Regal. You cannot abandon me again; just give me a chance I will show you that I am worthy of being your wife. That I can live the same life as you.” Regal simply stared at her.

On the other side, Ariana was humming a soft tune as she pulled out the tray on which freshly baked puff pastries were sitting. As she turned around and placed the pastries on the kitchen aisle, she noticed Penelope walking towards her.
From what Ariana knew, Penelope had been going in and out of the penthouse for days now. No one knew what she was doing, but she seemed quite busy, which made Ariana slightly tense. What was this woman doing? Where was she even heading? She had tried to ask Nicolai but every time she tried to meet with him, Ariana realised that someone was keeping an eye on her.
“Are you trying to use these pretty little things to win over my family now?” Penelope remarked as she looked down at the tray. “You should keep doing this, now that you are a divorced woman—you need to have at least one plus point to occupy the heart of a man.”
“Well, at least the man’s heart I am going to occupy will be through sheer skills and love and not through blackmail.” Ariana smiled and handed Penelope’s words back to her without pausing. “And I don’t know who told you this but I don’t need to do something like this to impress my family. As this family is mine to begin with.”
Penelope’s eyes narrowed as she snatched a puff pastry and walked out of the kitchen. However, as soon as she walked away, Ariana realised that the woman had forgotten her phone. As it did not matter, Ariana was about to turn around and ignore it. Until—
The screen of the phone lit up and a message popped up on it.
[Just bring her where I asked you to; as for the rest you don’t have to worry about it.]
Her? Who was this woman they were talking about? Was it—were they talking about her? Thought Ariana worriedly.
Penelope, who had stepped out of the kitchen, soon realised that she had forgotten her phone and hurried back.
She looked at her phone that was resting on the counter and then looked up at Ariana, who was still busy with her work. She heaved a sigh of relief and snatched her phone off the counter before running away.
