Chapter 607: Identity of the Masked man (2)
When Ariana woke up, her head felt heavy as if someone had smashed something heavy on the back of her head harshly. She smelled the scent of the sea and a chilling breeze brushing against her skin, which made her tremble.
She opened her eyes and then looked at the muscular back of a man who was putting the block of firewood in the burning flames.
At once Ariana knew that something was wrong, and the haze in her mind cleared up. She sat up straight on the bed and even though she was not tied up, Ariana could feel her body sway as if she had been drugged.
“Good thing you are awake… I was wondering if you will be up before our wedding night is held or not—I don’t mind doing it when you are asleep but I would rather have you moan and cry for me, my sweet girl.”
Ariana’s throat worked up and down as she tried to put distance between her and the man in front of her before questioning, “Why—why did you bring me here, Uncle Jeremy?”
Though she already knew what was going on, Ariana couldn’t wrap her head around this brutal reality. To think that the masked man was none other than the one person she respected and trusted.
She had admired Jeremy as her elder but never did she think that this man was the one who ruined her life. She wished she could ask him why he did such a thing but she didn’t.
It didn’t matter; what mattered the most was that she needed to get out of this place.
“There is no point in looking around. This is a place that no one knows about, ” Jeremy tried to walk close to Ariana, who immediately rushed to the other end of the room.
“Don’t come any closer, you murderer!” Ariana’s mind quickly turned as it understood everything that was going on. One link connected to another and her eyes turned red as she looked at Jeremy and questioned, “How could you—how could you kill your own mother?”
“DON’T CALL HER MY MOTHER!” Jeremy snapped at her harshly and Ariana flinched as if realising that he might have scared her, he softened his tone and said to Ariana, “You know she is not my mother, Kay. You and I—we have been neighbours, haven’t we? You watched me grow up; how can you make such a mistake?”
Kay? Ariana’s heart went into a nosedive. She seemed to have understood why her entire life had been turned upside down by this man and why her childhood was stained by the perverse acts of this man but that didn’t make her relieved; if anything, it made her sick to her core.
“I am not Kay—”
“Shh,” Jeremy raised his hand and placed a finger on his lips. “Don’t worry; I will help you learn everything.” He spoke as if he were a teacher trying to help a child who was scoring zero on the easiest tests. “I know that you are having a hard time. If only that man and his wife hadn’t taken me away from you, then you wouldn’t have to marry Theodore. I know how you used to save me whenever that man tried to bully me.”
“Wasn’t it because you liked me?” There was a wicked and wild glint in his eyes as he stepped forward and continued to speak, “I know you did; you liked me the best. But then your father stepped in between and recited some old rule about how you couldn’t marry an illegitimate child. It made me so mad that I wanted to kill that man.”
Jeremy clicked his tongue and sneered, “But that man was too lucky; he got away with minor scratches and when he realised that the accident was man-made he thought of me and then complained to that old bastard who forcibly brought me to the Nelson family.”
“Nelson family…” Ariana could feel her head swooning when she realised what was going on. She whispered, “Grandpa…he knew…”
“Of course he did,” Jeremy snickered, his eyes clearing up slightly. “He knew that I was trying to get your mother to marry me but he trapped me and sent me abroad. When I returned, your mother was already married and had two kids.”
“I then found you—I guess my dear father didn’t know that you were Kaylyn’s daughter but he did sense my attraction to you because of your close resemblance to your mother. And his suspicions became even more certain when his wife died while saving you.”
“This was why he got you married to his grandson; he wanted to keep you under his nose such that I will never be able to touch you.”
Ariana didn’t know what to feel about this. She felt betrayed because she believed that Senior Mister Nelson had always cared for her. She never knew that —
“What’s wrong? Are you upset?” Jeremy spoke up when he saw Ariana looking muddled and upset. “Don’t worry; I made sure that man got his comeuppance. He hated illegitimate children and even discarded me to one side. Always going on and on about how I shouldn’t think about things that didn’t belong to me. But guess what? That company he is so proud of—haha, it’s in the hands of my son. My illegitimate son!”
Ariana’s eyes widened when she realised what Jeremy meant, in the hands of his illegitimate son. Then—Noah, he wasn’t Killian Nelson’s son?
Her heart thumped in her chest wildly. This man—he was crazy! This was the first thought that came to her head and she stepped back.
She looked at Jeremy before saying, “You won’t be happy for too long. Nicolai—Nicolai will find me. My family too will not let you go.”
Though she didn’t know where this confidence in Nicolai was coming from, Ariana just knew that Nicolai wouldn’t sit still in case he found out that she was missing. He would do anything —-
“Such confidence, you really do resemble Kaylyn more and more. Just a bit more tweaking here and there and you will become her, starting from those eyes, of course; he tipped his chin at a small jar that was sitting at the cabinet behind him and Ariana felt her heart lurch in her throat as she saw a pair of emerald green eyes sitting inside the jar.
“Freshly gouged out,” Jeremy announced with a chilling note in his voice. “Just got these this morning from that girl who tried to hurt you. It’s a good thing that I let her grow up so big.”
“Penelope—” Ariana breathed out as she stepped away from the crazy psychopath. “You took—took…her—her eyes?”
“Just a small payment for all the shit she failed to ” Jeremy smiled and it took an ungodly amount of courage for Ariana to remain standing. She backed further and further away as her back hit the small table that held a basket of condoms and a wine bottle.

“You—you are crazy. You better hope that no one finds you or else —”
The man then took out his phone and turned it around and on the phone a video was playing. The very same one that had haunted her till now.
Her sixteen-year-old self tied to the chair and Jeremy on the bed with her lookalike.
His morphed voice echoing the orders and teachings that he wanted to learn.
His hands caressing her face and lips.
Shit.
She was about to throw up.
“Will your family and that man come to save you once they realise what kind of crooked upbringing you have received?”
