Chapter 616: One Monster Down
Jeremy seemed like he wanted to fight it but Nicolai didn’t give him the chance to. He pushed the mouth of the gun against the bastard’s forehead and sneered, “Just so you know, you don’t have a fucking choice, Jeremy. So you might as well listen to what we are telling you to do.”
The man looked up; his eyes were full of resistance but he still jotted down the things that Noah asked him to write down. Once he was done, Noah snatched the paper and read it thoroughly before saying, “All in order.”
And the second he gave the green light, Nicolai reached out and grabbed Jeremy by his hair before taking out a thick rope that Kayden had thrown at him earlier.
“What—what are you doing?” Jeremy realised that something was amiss and started thrashing but no matter how strong he was, he was still getting on in age and with three men subduing him, it didn’t take long for them to wrap the rope around his neck and choke him up.
He tried to struggle, punching and scratching everyone who was trying to hold him down. “Let–Let go of me! Let me go—this instant! I did what you asked me to do.”
“You think that was enough?” Nicolai sneered while tightening the rope around the neck of the man who thrashed and kicked his legs while trying to peel the rope off his neck. He pulled it even tighter when he saw that the man could still breathe and whispered hauntingly, “No, it was nowhere near enough. Do you even know how much Ariana suffered throughout these years? This was how she felt. Choked and suffocated, all thanks to you and that woman who helped you in your perverse plans. She couldn’t even breathe to the point where she thought and believed that death was her only liberation.”
“You fucked with her head and ruined her. Making her different from the rest, as she could never fit in between the rest.”
Nicolai loosened the grip when Jeremy’s face started to turn blue; as soon as he let go, the man gulped as much air as he could and filled his lungs. He was like a fish that had been thrown back into water but the little freedom that he had was soon snatched by Nicolai, who tightened the rope around Jeremy’s neck once again.
Jeremy started to struggle once again; he even let go of the rope and tried to scratch Nicolai’s face. His survival instinct kicked in at full force and he screamed. Even though he couldn’t breathe, he still tried to make the most out of it; maybe he was trying to call for help but Nicolai sneered as he reminded Jeremy of the one fact that he had forgotten.
“Have you forgotten? This house is far from the rest of the neighbourhood. Even if you scream and yell, no one is going to hear you. This was why you purchased this house, right?”
Jeremy’s eyes, if possible, turned even more vacant when he realised the fact that no one was coming to save him and when Nicolai saw that look, a rush of thrill swept over him. Because this was once the look that Ariana had given to Jeremy, but this man had ignored her, maybe even took pleasure in that gaze, which was filled with desperation.
He smiled viciously. Having fulfilled the goal that he came here for, he turned to look at Noah and said to him, “Are you going to let him make so much noise? Have you forgotten how he made sure that you would not be able to get out of his grasp, always listening to your mother? Hah, he even made her pregnant without letting his identity be known and used her like a pawn. Don’t you wish to deliver at least one blow to him?”
As soon as he finished speaking, Jeremy shook his head and he spoke in a suffocated voice, “N–Noah, I am your dad. Your dad, you can’t do this to
me—argh!!!!”
Without waiting for the man to finish his words, Noah raised his fist and punched him in the face.
“I told you to not say such words that will make me barf,” he snarled. Noah crouched down and slammed his palm against Jeremy’s mouth, silencing him just as he had done to Ariana by gagging her. “You think this will make me forgive you or plead for your life? Then you are wrong. You have used me and you have ruined my life in ways that I cannot even speak of. So, you might as well shut it.”
Nicolai peered down on Jeremy until his eyes were filled with the kind of desperation that Ariana felt all her life. Though he was there to save her, no one was going to come and save Jeremy.
He continued to hold his gaze till the second, the man stopped breathing and his soul slowly left his body. His lifeless eyes stared up at him but Nicolai was not bothered by it because he didn’t care.
Others might say that the lifeless eyes of one’s victim might haunt them for the rest of their life, but Nicolai was sure that as long as he remembered these eyes, he would only relish the memory.
Because he didn’t believe in justice, there was no such thing unless you were rich or powerful. Thus, he believed in vengeance. If you want justice, snatch it because it would never be given. And this man signed his fucking death warrant when he laid out the dirty plan to lay his hands on Ariana.
He stepped back and turned around. His mother and her people would deal with the mess in this room and make it look like it was Jeremy who committed suicide and with the note that Noah had made that man write, there was nothing else to be considered. Of course, Nicolai wanted to torment Jeremy more but more than tormenting that man, he wanted to see Ariana.
See her feel relieved and at peace once she realised that the monster who haunted her for more than twenty years of life was gone and that he took his own life to avoid the guilt and consequences of his actions. That he would never hurt her again.
