Chapter 626: Epilogue: Final
If Theodore thought that Nicolai had won over Kaylyn earlier, it was nothing compared to how his wife was looking at the man. If not for the fact that Kaylyn was made of flesh and bones, she would have been reduced to a puddle by now.
She stared at Nicolai with a gushing expression and even Inez seemed surprised by the words that her son had spoken but what made Theodore suck in a breath was the look in Ariana’s eyes.
The way she looked at Nicolai was as if all her dreams had come true. Her smile was full of affection and adoration, the very look that Kaylyn had once given to him when he told her that he wanted to marry her. And that was how Theodore knew that this wedding was going to take place even if he wanted to stop it.
Because his daughter was fully, truly, and irrevocably in love with this wanker of a gangster.
Theodore sighed. Looks like he was getting a mafia prince as his son-in-law.
As days passed, the little princess of the De Luca family was born. It was quite a surprise to both of the families, as they were sure that the child was a boy, but according to Aiden, the girl inherited the attitude of her father to bones and must have been giving them the middle finger, which caused the mistake.
That only made Nicolai proud of his daughter as he exclaimed, “That’s my little princess.”
And six months later, the dream wedding that Nicolai had planned was finally taking place.
“Sit still!” Ariana chastised Nicolai, who was trying to reach out to hug her once again. It was bad enough that he demanded her to help him with his clothes; he was not even bothering to keep his hands to himself.
He groaned as she combed and styled his hair for their wedding, “This is pure torture, princess.”
She flicked her fingers and let a few strands of his hair fall on his forehead and remarked, “And who was the one who asked for this torture? I told you that you should let the artist style you but you had to ask me to come and help you. Do you even know how many hours I need to fit in that dress you have chosen?”
Nicolai was the one who picked her dress while she helped him choose his wedding clothes. While she had gone for style and comfort, Nicolai had gone for grand.
Just grand.
The dress had a train that was big enough to fill the entire aisle even if she was standing at the altar. There were diamonds and silver threads used in the embroidery and if that wasn’t the worst, the veil was just as big. Ariana was troubled with just the very idea of how to manage the entire dress.
“But you deserve the best,” the cause of her troubles whined like a child. “You are my soon-to-be wife and you gave birth to the sweetest little angel for me, so this is the least I can do.”
Ariana shook her head as she finished applying the foundation on his face and a little lip balm over his lips.
And just to mess with him, she breathed against his lips.
Nicolai rumbled and shot her a gaze that made Ariana bite her lip to keep her own moans of desire from escaping.
He was so effortlessly handsome that Nicolai didn’t even need to clean himself up and now that he had styled himself, Ariana was sure that he was going to make a bunch of women cry by putting that ring on her finger.
However, that didn’t matter.
She was thankful for this man for choosing her and staying by her side through thick and thin. Even though their journey had been anything but easy, Nicolai had stayed with her throughout every step.
From the day when she found out that Jeremy had hanged himself and left a note of apology for her, he had confessed to all the sins and crimes he had done and asked her to forgive him.
Ariana had, of course, not forgiven him. She had sued him in court and made sure that everyone knew of his evil and cruel face.
Her mother also investigated the death of Jeremy’s ex-wife and found enough evidence to prove that it was not an accident but a man-made disaster, though it took a lot of effort and patience on her part.
Because of this, all the properties under Jeremy and the Serpents had been sold by the court. While half of it went to his ex-wife’s family as compensation, the other half of it was given to Ariana, which she donated to the women’s organisation that helped and stopped children and women trafficking and prostitution.
Ariana was glad that she finally got the closure that she wanted, even though it was slightly cruel on her part to relish the death of her monster; no one judged her and she never bothered to feel guilty either.
And with the help that she was getting, Ariana didn’t have to worry about it anytime soon. Though therapy was hard, it was helpful, and it only made her realise that without Nicolai, she would have been a lost cause.
She was glad that she was finally marrying him. Even though she had the most supportive family and friends, without him it wouldn’t have been possible.
Of course, she also started to badger him when he was having those episodes, though Nicolai fought tooth and nail with her and tried to stop her. According to him, it would only hurt her but she had stayed stubborn and told him that a relationship was all about standing next to each other in good and bad times.
It was nowhere near where just one person kept on giving and giving until he or she exhausted themselves.

Only then did this stubborn man stop causing trouble and let her stay in his world.
“You better stop moping and dress up,” she told him when his hand started to sneak towards her once again.
The man rolled his eyes and complained, “You are such a killjoy.”
He started taking off his clothes and Ariana was about to turn around and leave when her gaze fell on a tattoo that she was sure wasn’t there the last time she saw it.
“Nicolai, thats—”
