Don’t call me a cheater
“I am still better than you,” Nicolai sipped on his overly sweet milkshake. It made Ari wonder how in the world he burned all those calories when she could hardly keep fat off if she was to eat a slightly sugary doughnut. “Having fantasies about your cheating ex-husband. Blegh f*cking Blegh.” He gagged, causing Ari’s eyes to widen in anger.
“Excuse me! I am not having any sort of fantasies about anyone,” Ari responded, sounding affronted. She paused and added, “And it’s rich coming from you when you are no different from my ex-husband, Mister De Luca.” It made her angry how this man always tried to taunt her by using Noah. She was only human and though she and Noah’s relationship did not result in anything good, her feelings wouldn’t just vanish in thin air.
However, she seemed to have said the wrong thing because there was a second later he stood up. The chair slid back, making a harsh sound against the floor and Ari narrowed her eyes ever so slightly because of the sharp sound.
But that sound or the fact that everyone in the fast food centre was now looking at her was the least of her concerns. Because now Nicolai was right in her face, just mere inches away from her, causing Ari to lean back on her chair.
“What are you doing?” She questioned him with a subtle frown.
“Don’t call me a cheater ever,” he said to her through gritted teeth. The glint in his eyes vanished, and Ari could sense that this time around he was not joking. He meant every single word that he spoke to her just now.
Ari pursed her lips and then turned her head to the side before saying, “Then you might as well stop taunting me. No one likes hearing their exes’ names.”
The glint that vanished in his eyes returned instantly. He stepped on the edge of the chair he had pushed on the floor and then mentioned it. Once the chair was upright, Nicolai sat down on it once more.
He was smiling again, but Ari was not fooled this time around, this man could act all charming and sweet, but after the loss of control he just showed to her Ari knew that Nicolai was a ticking bomb.
“Well, you should have said that if it bothered you that much,” Nicolai stated with a grin. He then questioned in a heartbeat as if he would rather not give Ari even a second to breathe. “By the way, what kind of rumours did you even hear about me?”
Ari frowned and pursed her lips. She had heard plenty of rumours about Nicolai, and not one of them was nice. She opened her mouth and then closed it again before whispering in a low voice, “That you hold some wild parties.”
Wild was a light way to put them, as all the parties that Nicolai held comprised of orgies, drugs, and booze. Noah did not like such shameless things and held Nicolai in great contempt over these parties.
He also hated how everyone compared him and Nicolai, who was a barbarian and vulgar man with not a bone of shame in his body.
Noah also hated how Nicolai dressed like a gothic playboy, apparently this young man was too embarrassing and childish to be compared to him.
“Are you talking about the orgies?” Nicolai offered without any embarrassment, and Ari’s face burned with shame. Even though she had nothing to do with those parties, the word alone in public was enough to make her face flushed with humiliation.
Nicolai’s lips curled in a satisfied grin, finding Ari adorable. He chuckled, “Those parties prove nothing.”
“How so?”
“Because,” Nicolai trailed off. He then raised one finger in the air and explained, “None of the women I do the deed with is my exclusive girlfriend,” another finger went up, “Secondly, I am not cheating on them. They know what they are signing up for, not once did I give them false hope.” One more finger joined the other two. “Lastly, I know the importance of wedding vows, alright?”
Ari’s eyes widened slightly as she questioned, “You do?”
“Of course I do! What kind of question is even that?” Nicolai rolled his eyes at her. “I might have no regard for human life, but I assure you that I will hold the woman in great esteem, on whose ring finger I will put the band of my name.”
He turned to look at the window on their side and hummed before saying, “The rain seems to be stopping. Guess it’s time for you to go back to your princess tower, Pallas.”
“Ari!”
“Aria?”
“ARIANA!”
Ari snapped out of her daze as she looked up at Danny, who was holding a cup of coffee in his hands.
“What’s the matter?” Ari questioned Danny as if it weren’t her who was lost in her thoughts.
Danny rolled his eyes and sat down on the beanbag. He sipped on his coffee and stated, “It is you who need to spill the tea. What were you doing with that mad hound?”
Mad Hound. This was Nicolai’s nickname by which he was known in the city, he was given this name because it was believed that the man could even find someone who hid themselves at the end of the world. No one who owed the De Lucas could escape that man even if they gave it their all. This was the reason everyone feared Nicolai, who was like a devil’s hound when he was on the hunt.
And to worsen it, Danny caught her with the Mad Hound as he was in the same fast food centre as she and Nicolai.
“I wasn’t doing anything,” Ari replied, but when Danny narrowed his eyes at her, she shifted uncomfortably in her chair and then said to him, “He helped me when I was escaping from the hospital. I was only repaying the debt that I owed him.”
