Jerks are not welcome
Ari waved her hand. She knew that Aiden did not mean anything harsh by calling her Mrs Nelson. She said to him, “There is no need for you to apologize, Mister Dimitri and if it’s too much trouble, you call me by my name.”
She would rather not be questioned or accused of holding on to the Nelson name even after divorcing Noah. This was why Ari corrected Aiden, his action of calling her, ‘Mrs Nelson’ was not harmful but to some people like Ariel and Josie, it might be equivalent to her still clinging onto Noah.
Because Ari did not want to be harassed by either of those women, she hoped that Aiden would change his habits.
Aiden also understood her unsaid words. He nodded and acknowledged his mistakes before saying, “I understand, Ari. Now, can I have an Iced white mocha with caramel and salted cold foam?”
“Right away,” Ari smiled at him as she accepted his order.
She walked behind the counter, these two hours were the ones where she was supposed to work behind the counter while Leila stayed in the back room and took a look at the ingredients that were running out. And the reason for this setting ——
“That jerk is back again,” Bret said while handing a customer his Americano and Ari who had just finished making the salted cream cold foam raised her head. She looked at the man who walked inside their café and pursed her lips, wishing she could dump the bowl of salted cream foam on Ryan’s head.
Stella, who returned after, taking the order made a gagging gesture and whispered screamed, “Why can’t he take a hint? Leila does not want to see him anymore.”
Their whispering attracted Aiden’s attention as he raised his head and looked at Ryan Baker. The man was walking towards them with his hair carefully styled, with a few bangs falling over his eyes. He looked like a model who had walked right out of the cover of a fashion magazine, but Aiden could see that he was not well-liked here.
‘Did this man do something to offend these people?’ Aiden couldn’t help but think as he glanced at Ryan, who was Noah’s right-hand man as well as his best friend.
From the looks the staff of the Bright Moon Cafe were giving him, Aiden was certain that Ryan did some major crime to offend them.
“Your Iced White Mocha with Caramel and salted cold foam,” his attention, however, was diverted when Ari smiled at him and handed him a 20-ounce glass that was drizzled with extra caramel sauce.
“Thank you,” Aiden tapped his credit card and paid the bill. However, his curiosity was triggered. And he couldn’t help but turn and look at Ryan, who was now standing in front of the counter. “Iced Caramel Macchiato,” he said to Ari, who gave him a stiff smile before saying, “Sure.”
Even though she did not show any particular signs of aggression, it could be seen that she did not welcome him as much as she welcomed Aiden.
Aiden quirked a brow. Now his curiosity was even more piqued. He walked over to an empty table and sat down. He wanted to see what was going on for Ari and the rest of the staff to treat Ryan like this. What? This man along with Noah had created a lot of trouble for his brother and cousin, he wasn’t going to miss the chance to see him in trouble.
While Ari prepared Ryan’s order. The latter looked around the counter, his eyes were looking around as if he were searching for someone and when he did not find them, his eyes showed a disappointed look. He turned to look at Ari with a complicated expression.
The fact that she had divorced Noah was being slowly spread around by Ariel. Of course, Ariel was not foolish enough to announce that she was overjoyed by the sudden turn of events.
Instead, she sobbed and gained pity by telling anyone willing to listen that if she had known that this was how Ari was going to react, she would have never played that stupid game.
Ryan also believed that Ari would stay quiet as she was after Noah’s wealth, but who would have thought that she would actually divorce him?
“Did you divorce Noah?” Though Ryan had heard it from Ariel, he wanted to hear it from Ari. It wasn’t clear to him why, but he needed to hear those words from Ariana’s mouth rather than from Ariel for him to believe it was the truth.
Ari paused in her actions. She poured the coffee into the glass and placed it on the counter before saying, “I did.”
“Why?”
His genuine childish curiosity made Ari amused. She chuckled and then said to Ryan, “What do you mean by why? Do you think that everyone is like those sluts you carry around like your second skin? I don’t like to keep someone’s sloppy seconds.”
Ryan felt his face flush in embarrassment because he could feel that those words were specifically targeted at him. He wanted to say something more, but Ryan could feel that Ari was no longer the same. As he would rather not be insulted any further, he made the smart choice and stopped questioning her about her personal life.
Instead, he glanced at the closed door of the store room and questioned, “Is Leila inside?” The only reason he was coming to this rotten café and listening to their jibes was that woman who was refusing to see his face.
If only she listened to his explanation, he would tell her that it wasn’t like how she believed it to be.
“Even if she is there, she won’t be coming out now,” Stella stated as she wiped the counter where the milk was spilt.
“Then when will she be coming out of the room?” Ryan asked even though he already knew the answer.
“Who knows? All I know is that she won’t be coming out of that place until a certain scumbag gets lost,” Bret replied with a snarky smile.
