Yes, No and refusals
*-/-**-*-*-*-*-*-
“Don’t you think that you are speaking too much Bret?” Ryan questioned with an angry note in his voice. He couldn’t understand why this man was getting on his last nerve when he did nothing to him.
Bret rolled his eyes. He slammed the metal container in which he was making a blend of two coffees and said to Ryan, “Be glad that I am just speaking. After what you have done, I should have kicked you out of the café at the very first sight.”
However, they couldn’t do that as Leila asked them to serve Ryan. According to her, regardless of what he did to her, it did not change the fact that he was here to waste his money. As long as Ryan was willing to purchase something from their café, there was no need for them to refuse him.
And because Ryan was used to purchasing the most expensive coffee in their café, Bret, and the rest were a bit reluctant to kick him out. This jerk deserved to be bled dry, not that he would bleed just because they made him buy some expensive coffee. Mother*cker was too rich for that.
But every single penny counted, wasn’t that what the wise people wrote down?
“I am here to purchase a coffee,” Ryan countered, feeling angry and upset. Anyone in this city would be kissing his boots and begging him to come to their shop, but this was the only shop in the Lonest city that did not welcome him in the slightest. They treated him as if he were a leech that they needed to squash as quickly as possible.
“And I have given you, your coffee,” Ari remarked. She turned the payment machine towards Ryan and stated, “Now it’s time for you to pay for your coffee and be on your way. There other customers areg behind you in the line, Mister Baker.”
Ryan turned to look behind and indeed, there was a long line behind him, but he would rather not move. He did not see the person for whom he came to this darned café and even listened to their taunts.
He turned to look at Ari and lowered his voice, “Listen if you relay my message to Leila… I will talk to Noah for you——”
The man did not even get the chance to finish his sentence when Ari banged the payment machine right in front of him. She flashed him a derisive smile and stated coldly, “Why will I need you to talk to Noah for me? When it was I who filed for the divorce. I do not have anything to say to a man like him, and even if I did, I would face him myself rather than sell my friend.”
Her lips curled further up as she continued, “Such loyalty might be hard for you to understand, given the disgusting things you have done in the past. Now, if you can make your payment please, Mister Baker. I do not wish to exchange any more hurtful words with you.”
Her words were nothing less than a tight slap on Ryan’s face. The man’s face turned red with anger, he took out his card before tapping it on the machine.
“Don’t think that you will be able to get away with this,” he said to Ari, who hummed and greeted the next customer.
While Ryan was upset with the lack of response, he knew that there was no point in quibbling with Ari. He harrumphed and then walked away, in his mind, he already decided to tell everything that happened in the café to Noah.
In case Ari was planning something, he needed to make sure that Noah did not fall for it that easily. At least, that woman would have to apologize to him for everything if she wanted to come back to Noah!
He was Noah’s best friend, damn it.
Aiden, who was watching the show on the sidelines, was quite amused. From the looks of it, the owner of this café had some sort of special relationship with Ryan, but the latter messed it up.
Now he came crawling back but was not accepted by the owner of the café.
‘That woman has some strong guts,’ Aiden thought just as he finished sending the video of Ryan being treated like a dog that had entered a place it shouldn’t have, to his brother and cousin.
Usually, women fell face-first on the floor upon which Ryan Baker and Noah Nelson walked. The two men were not only rich but also good-looking it was quite surprising to see them being treated like they were dirt under the rag by Ari and Leila.
He finished drinking his coffee and walked out of the café, feeling even more refreshed than he did when he was just drinking coffee. There was nothing more refreshing than watching one’s rival having a hard time.
However, no sooner did he step out of the café, than he received a call from his hard-headed and rather explosive cousin.
“Nico——” he answered the call, but before he could say anything apart from Nicolai’s name, his cousin exploded from the other side.
“What the f*ck Aiden? That dumbass was all over Pallas and you did not even pull him away?” Nico’s angry voice rumbled through the speaker from the other side, causing Aiden to pull his phone away from his ear. He scrunched up his brows and questioned, “I did not see any Pallas cat in the café.”
There was a burst of laughter from somewhere behind and a second later, Aiden heard his annoying as-heck brother’s voice.
“He meant to say that rosy-haired woman with those pretty blue eyes,” Zayden cleared up the matter to Aiden, who understood who this Pallas was in question.
But he did not get a chance to say anything more, as a second later he heard Nicolai roar, “Don’t call her pretty, you bastard!”
“What? Are you gatekeeping already? Does she know?” Zayden’s mocking voice came a second later and Aiden felt as if he had stepped on a landmine.
