Running into unexpected
Aiden immediately questioned his foolish cousin, “What do you mean? What is Zayden saying? Nicolai, are you aiming for Miss Ariana?” The last thing Aiden wanted to hear was that his cousin, whose hardly existing brain was filled with nothing but violence, was going after Ariana.
On the other side, Nicolai, who had Zayden in a headlock, immediately turned his attention to Aiden. He picked up the phone from the surface of the table and said, “Why? What’s wrong? I can’t go after her?” Though he had no such plans to go after Ariana and was only amused by her a little. Alright, a lot, but that did not mean that he wanted to bed her.
It was just that, the tone with which Aiden questioned him made Nicolai a bit annoyed. Why was everyone making a big hoo-hah about this? It was as if he were telling them that he wanted to dress up as a woman and wanted to give birth to a child.
Upon hearing his question, Aiden was speechless. He pushed the glasses that were on the bridge of his nose and then stated in a cold voice, “Nico, Miss Ariana is not the kind of woman you can play with. I hope that you are aware of this.”
Again with that nauseating tone.
“Are you saying that I am not worthy of her?” Nicolai questioned.
“Do I need to remind the party that you held last week?” Aiden sneered with a cold look on his face. He paused at the streetlight which had turned red for the pedestrians and then continued speaking, “She is the kind of woman who is different from the rest of us, I hope you will stray away from her and not cause any unnecessary trouble.”
The reason Aiden was telling this to Nicolai was because he was well aware of what kind of person his cousin was. He was the kind of man who couldn’t stay connected to anything for more than a few months. With how hyperactive and aggressive, Nicolai was his longest-running relationship, if that was what one could call it, was for less than three weeks.
Nicolai always craved something unique and something new, because of this reason, he was unable to settle for any woman as he would end up getting bored with them in a few days.
And Aiden could see that Ariana was not the kind of woman who was up for a fling and his cousin, couldn’t give her more than that.
“Do I need you to tell me, what I can and I cannot do? Just so you know, she is not my type either! So if you are worrying about something, then you should be worried about her clinging onto me since I am such a catch!” Nicolai snapped as he ended the call with a rush of words. At the same time, he hurled the phone in his hands at Zayden’s face who was laughing a bit too much.
On the other side, Aiden flinched as the call ended. He did not know what to say, which was why he decisively made his way to the hospital and threw the matter of Nicolai and Ariana in the back of his head. He had done his part by warning Nicolai if his cousin still wanted to proceed with his stupid plans then he was more than welcome.
Ariana, who was working in the café had no idea what happened between Aiden and Nicolai. She finished serving the last of the customers and slumped down on the chair while massaging her shoulders. She could feel every single bone in her body creaking and only wished to take a warm bath and a long nap.
“Tired?” Brett asked as he handed Ari a cup of hot cocoa along with the rest of the staff.
“Exhausted,” Ari sighed dramatically. She looked at the now empty café and then said to Brett, “I never thought that the rush would be this bad.” There had been a rush like this before, but it had never been this bad.
“What can we do girl?” Brett sighed along with her as he gulped on his drink. “It’s all because this street is getting redeveloped and more and more companies are getting opened.” He then paused and added, “Not to mention that hotshot doctor is just a few blocks away from us.”
Ari turned to look at Brett with an amused expression. “Are you talking about Mister Dimitri?”
“If not?” Stella snorted. She then remarked while wiping the sweat off her forehead, “We should be thanking that hot shot. It’s because of him that we get so much traffic.”
Only then did Ari remember that most of the customers who came today were women. Not to mention the rush started to thin down once Aiden left.
“Maybe we should give him a discount?” Ari suggested.
“Discount? That man deserves more than a discount,” Brett corrected with an offended voice. He moved his hand in an elegant gesture and stated, “That hot shot brought such a rush to our café, I think he deserves a better gift. Like me, maybe?”
“Who is the lucky one who won the heart of our picky Brett?” A new voice joined them, and they all turned to look at Leila, who had stepped out of the storeroom.
“You are done checking the supplies?” Ari asked as she handed Leila a cup of cocoa.
Leila smiled at her wearily as both of them knew that the reason she hid in the storeroom was to avoid a certain man and not to check supplies.
“I did. We are running on the coffee beans. Brett, I will leave the matter of ordering the new supply, make sure to buy it from our usual supplier and don’t let him change the beans. The last time he sent a third-grade supply if not for us checking it soon, we would be in a lot of trouble,” Leila relayed to Brett, who nodded and agreed.
While the three of them discussed the matter of the coffee beans purchased, Ari stood up from her chair and decided to go and dump the trash out in the trash can.
They would get a new rush soon, and she did not want the customers to see a mess in the trash cans. However, just as she stepped out of the café, she ran into someone she never expected.
