Chapter 2554: The Alchemy God’s Resolve
The Alchemy God fell silent under the Sword God’s accusation, not because he had no answer but because he needed to reassert his own values.
From a very young age, he was fascinated by Alchemy. That fascination only increased when he received the Book of Endless Recipes.
He was born when the war was at its height, and as such, he understood just how important Alchemy was. He wanted to help everyone survive the terrible war.
That desire had at some point twisted so much that he himself hadn’t realized. Before he knew it, he was ready to kill a few to save the many.
He went around the world, searching for alchemists to learn from, to steal from. All just to improve himself and his alchemy. The thing he searched for the most was the other two treasures of the original Alchemy God, but those were not something he ever managed to find.
Only after finding those books would he finally achieve what he wanted to.
Even after becoming the Alchemy God himself, he still hadn’t reached the stage he had wanted to.
As the dissatisfaction among those with a high cultivation base became apparent, it was clear that they would start a war once again. And when that disciple of the Sky God stole the treasures from the treaty, it was clear that she would no longer have much control over the masses.
War was imminent, and the responsibility to save as many people as possible fell on him. He was the Alchemist, synonymous with the word ‘healer.’
He needed to improve his Alchemy even further to do what needed to be done.
After years of searching slowly, Whitesong had finally found one tiny thread that led to where one of the other two books was. He had gotten so close to it too, but the tribesmen who had kept it had slipped out of his fingers right in front of him.
After that, there were no more threads he could follow. He was out of options.
He wished he could have all the great alchemists in front of him and ask if any of them had the books. That was where the idea for the tournament had truly come from.
All Whitesong ever wanted were the books since he always believed himself to be the person that needed to improve Alchemy. But upon seeing all the talented individuals who could surely surpass him with enough time and assistance, he now sought to make that happen.
What he wanted more than the books was for these few alchemists to succeed in life. Alex, Aethersage, and Leafheart especially had the capacity to far surpass him.
And Alex stood head and shoulders above the rest as well. He was the one person he needed to protect.
“I am no saint. I have never claimed to be one,” the Alchemy God said slowly. “But I am no hypocrite either. All I am is a man on a mission to bring Alchemy to great new heights. And I will do whatever that requires me to do, be it killing innocents or saving murderers. And right now, the world demands that I save this young man, so I will. And I will do whatever I need to make that happen.”
The Sword God had nothing else to say. It was clear that the Alchemy God was not going to budge at all.
In the end, all he could do was laugh. “You say Starsight could not divine for the past century, and yet one of her divinations is coming true right now. She told me how you would be angry after the tournament was over. I always thought you would have lost your book to be this angry, but it seems the reason was something I could’ve never foreseen. I wonder how your brother will act when he finds out what happened here today.”
The Alchemy God felt an immediate sense of panic in him before he quickly threw it away.
“I do not care what he thinks about me. If he cared even a little about anything that happens here today, he would have come to watch my tournament.”
The Sword God shook his head. “Whatever, I can’t deal with you two brothers,” he said and turned around. “Dustvenom, Hellspawn, either of you think you can help me out here? I need to go kill our doom.”
“I would not think you want my help,” the War God said. “I am quite fond of that child. He has the potential to be my disciple, after all, so aiding in his death doesn’t sit right with me.”
“Dear god, please don’t tell me you’re going to try and stop us as well. I can understand why that maniac Killshot would want to fight us, but not you,” the Sword God said quickly.
The War God snickered. “No, I’m choosing to abstain from all this,” he said, looking to the side where the Formation God was talking with the Storm God and the Winter God. “Unless things change and we get some more information.”
The Poison God didn’t say anything. He looked at Grimsight and Killshot in the distance and feared them. He knew how strong they were, and while he was a god, Grimsight was far stronger than him.
The fact that they together were fighting against seven Divine Realm cultivators was proof enough.
The Puppet God had been thinking for a long while. She had wanted to act, but seeing Killshot join the battle to defend the young man made her pause.
However, after thinking enough about it, she understood that Killshot’s decision could not be trusted. She had to make her own decision.
The Puppet God was one of the few gods trying to stop the war. The end of the world was a bigger deal than the war, so she needed to act for it.

She reached into her Soul Space and brought out a dozen different puppets, all of different shapes and sizes.
“Sword God, go take care of that kid. I will stop the Alchemy God for you.”
