Chapter 2698: Many Days
How is anyone supposed to survive this?

That was all the thought Alex had in his mind as he died over and over. Along the way, he completely gave up on trying to run away or fight back. He had tried every little thing he could, and yet with each attempt, Death was all that waited.

Now, he completely gave himself up to Death.

He died over and over so many times that he started losing count. After he died a few dozen times, he started running out of Qi, so when he came back to life, he was still majorly wounded and weakened, pain filling every part of him.

Death seemed to not care about his pain or that he had fully regenerated. She killed him whenever he was more or less alive.

After dying enough times, Alex was completely out of both Qi and blood aura to help him regrow his body. At that point, his body simply relied on the connection it had with his soul, that too was nearly dead, to come back to life.

The time between his regeneration started getting longer and longer as a result.

And yet, Death was there to kill him each time he was alive.

Alex saw the sky change. The day turned to evening, then to night. Each time he died, it took at least an hour to come back to life. Each time he came back, a fresh pile of bodies would gather on top of him from the many beasts that had come to this place in that time.

Day came and then night.

The time between regrowth took longer this time, nearly half the day just to gather enough energy from the world for him to come back to life.

And yet, Death was there to kill him each time.

Then it took him an entire day.

When he came to life, Alex opened his eyes somewhere else. He looked around and saw that it was night. His ears weren’t back yet, so he couldn’t hear anything, but he saw a strange orange glow from the distance.

Suddenly, a large glowing leopard pounced over him, letting Alex feel the heat coming off its body.

A Sun Wraith.

Halfway through its pounce, its body was obliterated, the sun aura around it dissipating into thin air.

‘A Sun Wraith?’ Alex thought. ‘What’s that doing here?’

It wasn’t the last one either. Many more Sun Wraiths appeared, each one clearly dying to Death.

Alex knew the strength of these beasts, and he knew just how much stronger a Sun Wraith was in comparison to a regular beast. He wouldn’t be surprised if these things had enough power to contend against a Divinity.

And yet, they were being destroyed in a single strike.

Alex finally understood just how weak he actually was against Death. The fact that he even thought he would fight her had been laughable.

His ears had barely begun to grow back when everything went dark once again. He died.

As Alex died more and more, the time it took for him to come back to life got even longer.

It took multiple days for Alex to come back to life now. At this point, he wasn’t even aware how many days it had been. Regrowing his body was taking just far too long.

And still, before he could fully regrow his body, Death ended up finding him first.

More beasts piled up where Alex was. When his nose regrew, he could smell the stench of the place, of the beasts being cooked in the day sun, without other beasts getting to them first.

There were so many dead beasts here now that the number could probably reach tens of thousands. There were more beasts here than the number of immortal cultivators in a decently sized Immortal sect.

And every single one of them was dead.

The dead bodies of the beasts didn’t last too long. There were some beasts that managed to eat the corpses, but more than anything, the formation of Sun Wraiths burned through many of the corpses, destroying even the corpses nearby.

It was these explosions that were tossing Alex all around the place.

And it was these Sun Wraiths that kept Death from leaving this place as well.

Alex died many more times. At this point, he didn’t even know how long he had been in this place. The days and nights flowed into one for him, time no longer a thing that mattered at all.

There was nothing he could do at all, except wait now.

Many more deaths later, Alex finally awakened to complete silence. There was nothing in the vicinity, no sound, no color.

He waited for a day to see what would happen. Nothing did.

Another day passed. Alex’s body continued to regrow. Regeneration took a very long time right now.

Another day passed, and Alex began to wonder if Death had actually left. He hadn’t seen any sign of her in 3 days already and as the fourth day passed, his suspicion turned to hope.

On the 5th day, Alex’s body had regrown enough that he could move now. Only thing left to regrow were patches of skin around his body.

After taking a long time to think if what he was doing was stupid or not, he decided to take the chance and got up.

Alex searched through the sea of death and tried to locate the black-haired woman. He couldn’t find her.

As hope grew in him, he rushed into the corpses in front of him, digging as far deep as he could go. There had to be beast cores here or sunhearts, or both.

He could search for it, but that would take too long. He wanted his Qi back as soon as he could.

So, Alex decided to absorb blood aura instead.

Sitting at the very bottom of the corpses where the blood came halfway up his shin even in the sand, Alex started using his blood absorption technique and absorbed every bit of blood aura he could from the tens of thousands of beasts that had died in that place.
