Chapter 2699: Improvement
Alex had fully underestimated just how much blood aura there was in that depression. The amount of blood there was not a proper indication of blood aura at all since even the blood seeped into the sand still gave off blood aura.

Since the aura had a connection to the blood, as long as the blood itself existed, the blood aura wouldn’t dissipate away.

So for however many days Death had been killing in this place, not much of the blood aura had been lost at all. And since each individual beast itself had a far stronger blood aura than what Alex was used to, the amount he absorbed was something he could have never guessed.

The blood aura surged toward Alex like a hurricane where he was the eye.

His body ached from the pure burden of so much energy as his body tried to adapt to all of it. He felt his blood absorption technique work overtime as it drew in the blood aura and improved the blood at the same time.

Alex remembered doing something similar with Bai Jingshen and the blood he had gathered for him in the past, but this absolutely dwarfed that. After all, this wasn’t just regular blood of a beast, but rather their blood essence as well.

This was everything an Immortal beast would have and more, and Alex was absorbing all of it.

Alex’s blood aura filled up and improved in such a short time at the start that he couldn’t even believe it. Instantly, his blood aura that had been on the threshold of Immortal Transcendent 1st realm immediately crossed it, now clearly in that realm.

Then, after what felt like mere 5 minutes, he reached the strength of Immortal Transcendent 2nd realm.

And he was only beginning.

As the energy flowed into him more and more, he improved further.

Immortal Transcendent 3rd realm.

Immortal Transcendent 4th realm.

Immortal Transcendent 5th realm.

Immortal Transcendent 6th realm.

The time it took to reach these realms was short, but they were growing further and further apart as more time passed.

When Alex’s blood aura finally hit Immortal Transcendent 7th realm, it had taken him over 4 hours to do so.

That was many times slower compared to the first time, but it was still only 4 hours. That was still stupidly fast.

Alex stood up from the location and moved elsewhere just in case he had collected all the energy in his surroundings, which was why it had slowed down. As it turned out, he was correct, but not as much as he had thought he was.

The energy in the new place was strong, but not enough to bring his speed back to what it was early on. As he cultivated, it took him nearly 10 hours this time to reach the Immortal Transcendent 8th realm.

Alex moved to another spot and continued.

As it took him longer and longer to cultivate, Alex finally had the time to reflect on what had happened to him earlier.

‘How many times did I die?’ he thought.

When he had first received the Undying Physique, he had died over a hundred times. Each of those deaths had been of his body while his spirit was kept safe, so that when his body came back, he could come back to life.

That was the only time he had died so many times in the past. Except now. He had easily died a hundred times this time too, hadn’t he?

‘Death…’ he thought. ‘At least she has an apt name.’

He couldn’t help but wonder who Death really was. Moreover, how had she killed him?

She had used the sword in her hand, but… he had seen no attacks. Were they like his, so unbelievably thin that one couldn’t see, or were they just fast?

When he really thought about it, he hadn’t even seen her launch her attacks. Her sword swings alone had been impossible for his eyes to follow.

‘How the hell did she get so strong?’

As he thought about Death, Alex finally started becoming curious about her skin. Black hair was common in Hell, but white skin? He could see her skin, and it was not because of any disease or albinism.

She was a regular person.

‘But white skin is irregular in Hell,’ he thought, which led him to another possibility. ‘Is she like me? Did she come from outside as well?’

The possibility was there, but he couldn’t know for sure until he heard it from her. But, he didn’t think he could ever get an answer from her.

The woman didn’t speak. He wasn’t sure if she didn’t want to speak, or if she simply didn’t care for him to speak. Her eyes were emotionless too, seemingly without a thought behind them.

‘There was no killing intent in her attacks,’ Alex thought. ‘None I could sense at least.’

Were her attacks not meant to kill?

‘There had to be regular intent in her attacks though, right?’ Alex thought. ‘Without intent, the attacks wouldn’t have survived outside of her sphere of influence.’

That was not all, most of her attacks’ powers should have been weakened in that distance as well. The fact that she had still so easily killed him meant one of two things.

The first possibility was that Death was so ridiculously strong that even her weakened attacks were enough to defeat so many beasts and him without breaking a sweat.

That would easily make her a Divinity with just her intent alone. Her speed did suggest that, but Alex found it difficult to believe that was the case. Even a Divinity couldn’t possibly overpower him this much with so many restrictions of Hell, could they?

He found the other possibility more likely.

Death had either found a way to increase her sphere of influence, or because of the emotionless and thoughtless state she was in, she was exempt from the Intent’s effects.

Either way, she was a monster that the current him had no way of dealing with if they were to come across again.
