Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy - Chapter 2707
Chapter 2707: Northsword
After a day of traveling together, Alex finally let Lang Luxin go away himself, while he made his way toward the cities.
Having learned that there was a sort of competition going on that made people attack one another, Alex chose to undo his Blood Armor and instead dressed in clothes that camouflaged him in the desert.
Camouflaged or not, the beasts never mistook him for a single moment. Just the presence of his Sunheart made all the beasts want to fight him the moment he came by them.
Even if he did turn invisible, the beasts could still sense where the Sunheart was and easily know where to find him.
Since the cities used Sunheart as currency, he made sure to gather as many as he could by the time he arrived there. So, he fought a lot of beasts, and ate a lot of infected beast cores too.
He also ate a Sunheart all by itself when he found a secure location to hide away in. His physique grew a bit, but he was never sure how much that bit was.
Did he need to eat 10 more or 100 more? Alex worried it was going to be way more than that.
His journey took him much longer than he had thought it would take him, with nearly a month and a half passing before he finally arrived at the area of desert where the sand ended and the parched plain started.
From where he was, Alex could already start to see buildings in the distance, and greenery even further beyond that.
As he continued walking, he saw his first human in more than a month, a man who simply walked past him, making his way to the desert. The further he went, the more people he saw.
Soon, houses showed up, people living their normal lives.
The buildings were surprisingly made up of wood and mud, something Alex hadn’t seen since the day he left Life’s Edge.
No one even paid him a second glance.
As the vegetation surrounded Alex, he could already hear the roaring of the river far away. Lang Luxin had called it the Northsword River, which flowed down from the frozen peaks in the north.
Alex found it a little hard to believe that there were frozen peaks anywhere in Hell, but just because he didn’t believe it didn’t mean it wasn’t true.
The city became bigger around him, with people walking all around him, busy to head over to somewhere. He had arrived here somewhat later in the afternoon, and still people appeared so busy.
Alex walked around the street, looking at the architecture and clothing of everyone around him. What he saw here was much closer to what he saw in the tribes next to the sea than in the desert.
It was a close enough similarity that Alex couldn’t help but wonder if this had inspired what was out there.
It couldn’t really be a coincidence, could it?
The information of this region did make its way out of here after all. And these people should have survived long enough that no one bothered improving anything in their daily life.
Necessity was what forced geniuses to make inventions. So without any necessity for improvement, there would be none.
The people wore a similar design of clothes to what he was wearing. It was looser garb that was supposed to stay on him without touching most of his skin. His face was covered in the same cloth as well, a veil covering everything but his eyes.
The river was still a bit far away from where he was, so he couldn’t see it exactly. He wanted to go look at how big it was, but before that, he made his way to where he would find the people of the Endless Night sect.
That was his main objective in coming to this city after all.
It wasn’t that difficult to find one. There were shops associated with the Endless Night sect all over the city, with their name proudly presented on top.
Clothing store, weapons store, smithy, medical stores, tea shop, fruit stores, butcher, leisure shops, gambling houses. Anything one could think of, the Endless Night sect seemed to have their hands in it.
Alex need only ask a single one of those people to point him in the direction where he would find representatives of the Endless Night sect and they would.
Half an hour later, Alex arrived at a location that was close by the river. He could see the river when he arrived, a wide thing nearly 50 meters from one shore to the other.
It looked deep green in the afternoon light, and Alex couldn’t help but wonder just how deep it was. The river had branches opened in many places that led to different irrigation sites around the city, which made Alex wonder just how much water had been siphoned away in those sites along the way before this river even got here.
Alex ignored the river for now and looked at the place he had come to. From the outside, it looked like a simple place, but it was the main location where the representatives of the Endless Night sect stayed.

From what he had heard from the other shops, this place held the most important people from that sect for this city, which made Alex wonder if there were other cities with perhaps even more important men.
Although, a sect usually wouldn’t let important people work this far outside, so Alex didn’t expect much from them.
He arrived inside and after a while finally managed to find someone with authority that he could talk to.
It was an older man with slightly wrinkled skin. He looked at Alex and shook his head at first.
“Are you here for the Entrance exam?” he asked. “It’s not set in this city. Besides, you missed it already for this decade.”
“I’m not here for the Entrance test,” Alex said. “I wish to join the Endless Night sect. How may I do so?”
