Chapter 2712: On His Own
For over 2 months, Alex’s days were spent with not many changes. During the day, he would go out to hunt beasts with Sunhearts. And during the night, he would train his Intent.

He still hadn’t gotten the chance to cultivate as he didn’t feel safe just yet. He also didn’t want questions on how he was even cultivating in the first place since he shouldn’t have been able to.

So, he had been holding back, at least until he made his way to the Endless Night sect.

But then, he got the news.

“They don’t want me?” Alex asked.

“I’m afraid our Grand Elder has made the decision, and we cannot change his mind,” the man told Alex. “If you wish, you could take the entrance test in a decade and try to join that way.”

Alex stared with a blank expression. Was there even a point to that anymore? He couldn’t become a disciple, but simply arriving at the sect wasn’t going to help him since he was rejected already.

“Were my Alchemy skills mentioned?” Alex asked.

“Yes, but our Grand Elder does not seem to care,” the man said.

“Your Grand Elder?” Alex asked. “Was the Sect Master asked about this?”

The man scratched his head. “Our Grand Elder’s words hold more sway than the Sect Master. Even if the Sect Master were to accept you, if the Grand Elder rejects, the Sect Master would still reject you.”

Alex didn’t know what to say.

“What am I to do now?” he asked.

The man shook his head. “I have no suggestion other than trying to join the sect normally,” he said.

Alex sighed. “Thank you for all the help,” he said. “But I can’t do that, I’m afraid. I will be leaving then.”

The man was taken aback. “Senior, you can still stay here for as long as you want. The Grand Elder might have rejected you, but you are still—”

“No, that’s fine,” Alex said. “I’ll leave.”

There was no reason to stay there anymore.

Alex left the building and made his way to the desert to gather more Sunhearts so he could pay for various things like a place to stay or other resources he would be needing in the cities.

Most of all, he wanted to save enough to buy a bunch of Elixir. Elixirs themselves were sold every few years in an auction, so he needed to carry enough money with him to buy some.

The faster he could improve his body cultivation, the faster he could do so many things.

Alex left the city and headed over to a bigger one downstream. This city was constantly expanding, so Alex found a cheap location he bought for himself, where he made a simple hut to stay in.

No one really knew who he was or where he had come from. He lived all by himself, so no one bothered him either.

Once Alex started living there, time flew by.

There was no more restriction on him to train, so he trained for however long he wanted and cultivated for just as long.

Alex slowly gathered up the Sunhearts, but having to use them both to improve his body and his cultivation base slowed down how quickly he could earn them. He had to sadly watch many Elixirs get sold at high prices while he himself could never purchase them.

A decade passed in that time, and the next entrance test for the Endless Night sect was held. Alex saw many youths be incredibly happy about the opportunity and seemed to want nothing more than to pass this as quickly as they could.

If Alex hadn’t been restricted by his oath, he would have joined that test so quickly too. Sadly, all he could do was stay back and continue what he was doing.

Alex’s physique continued to improve as he consumed more Sunhearts, and his cultivation base reached closer and closer to reaching a breakthrough. To his surprise, consuming the flesh of the beasts he killed was actually improving his body cultivation enough that his Qi didn’t need to improve it before he could break through.

So now, it was just a matter of time.

Alex attempted to create Blood Beasts a few times in order to see how they truly worked and compared them to Sun Wraiths that he created a few times as well.

He had been attempting to improve this for a long time, but he hadn’t yet made a significant improvement on this front. He just needed to find a way to get the beasts to continue to improve at a rapid rate.

‘They somewhat recover and also slightly grow stronger if they consume a lot of blood, but that’s way too slow. I need to find a way to improve just that.’

Alex also wanted some consciousness from those beasts, but asking a beast with a True realm core to have consciousness was just asking for too much. He needed to lower his expectations in that regard.

A few more years passed and Alex continued gathering more and more Sunhearts until he finally gathered enough to purchase a jar of the Elixir.

The jar of Elixir cost Alex exactly 4200 Sunhearts. The average cost of a jar was around 4000 Sunhearts, or 2000 Decaying Sunhearts, but since it was an auction, there had been other people who wanted to purchase it as well.

Thankfully he had managed to snatch the jar for himself.

Alex returned to his house with the jar, making sure no one was there to disturb him on the way back.

Once back, he sat on his bed and pulled out the jar. He undid the lid and looked inside.

Inside the jar was a clear liquid, slightly more viscous than regular water, but not so much that one could easily know it wasn’t water.

It had no smell at all, not a bit.

‘Is this really something they make using beasts?’ he questioned. He wondered how they really made this Elixir.

He could ask those questions later. For now, it was time to drink this and find out just how good it was.
