Chapter 830: Drama Between A Mother And A Son
“Senior, when I was young, I was so naive. I believed miracles were always within reach, that there would always be choices available—better choices to save my loved ones without causing harm to others. Sometimes miracles do happen, allowing me to avoid hurting anyone. Yet, there are times when such miracles are absent, and I find myself on a ruthless path, compromising my principles and conforming to the harsh rules of survival, regardless of right or wrong. I am who I am: neither wholly good nor wholly bad. I empathize with their pain, but who empathizes with mine? If I strive not to harm others in order to protect my loved ones, when the roles are reversed, will they show me the same compassion?” The glow around her seemed to deepen, enveloping her in an air of enigma.
Shen Anshuang became thoroughly engrossed in the world of Shenlian Yingyue, losing track of time as she wandered through its enchanting landscapes. It was only when she felt a gentle warmth in her palm—a gift of the Fire Lily from the girl—that she noticed the figure had vanished, along with her companions, into the endless expanse of snow.
“What’s amiss with you?”
As her thoughts echoed, a pair of enchanting feet stepped into her line of sight.
The figure didn’t wear shoes, walking upon the frozen snow as if the biting cold had no power over his bare feet. Beautiful anklets adorned his slender ankles, glimmering in the pale light.
She lifted her gaze to meet the newcomer. His face appeared ordinary at first glance, yet she could see beyond the surface, perceiving a grandeur that transcended human form.
In this form, he seemed to embody the essence of nature itself—the snow melting in splendid harmony, flowers blooming with grace, and the sunlight casting a soft, ethereal glow. Words failed to adequately capture the beauty of his features.
“Xian’er, are you here to seek your beloved?” Shen Anshuang inquired with a cryptic smile. Her once average visage began to transform, revealing a beauty that rivaled his.
Together, they were otherworldly, their perfection defying mortal comprehension, as though the cosmos had carved them from stardust and wistful dreams. They were not merely beautiful; they were a miracle, standing as anomalies amidst the natural order.
“I’ve come to find A’Lei,” Shen Xian said, his gaze drifting to the Fire Lily cradled in his palm, choosing silence over inquiries into her affairs, as long as she remained unharmed.
With a gentle flick of her fingers, a vision unfolded before them, depicting Tai Hua Lei battling a formidable demonic bone monster in a desolate desert.
“His fortune is remarkable; over the past year, he has stumbled upon countless opportunities. One of my inheritances has fallen into his hands by his own merit. A mortal, born with an inferior spiritual root, achieving what those deemed powerful cannot. I can only imagine the expressions on the old men’s faces when they realize that their hard-fought treasures have been claimed by someone so unassuming,” she said with a smirk.
“Do you hold the mother emperor accountable for granting one of my inheritances to him and not to you?” she continued, her expression unreadable.
“I don’t need your power or inheritance to carve out my path,” Shen Xian responded, a light chuckle escaping him, portraying his indifference.
“My son, you remain as resolute as ever, never leaning on my power and riches to fulfill your ambitions. You are the one deserving of the throne of the Demon Realm, not me,” she laughed lightly, rising with an air of nonchalance.
Shen Xian’s heart was a little absence.
“Has he truly forgotten his past love for you? Don’t you hold any resentment?” she asked, her brow furrowing in doubt as she changed the topic to catch his attention back.
“He will remember in time. I can be patient,” Shen Xian replied, his eyes darkening with an unspoken heaviness.
“What news from the outside? Have you quelled the rebellions? Have you uncovered the evidence of their betrayal, the time they conspired with the Immortals from the eight realms?” She leaned against a plum blossom tree, her demeanor growing cold. It seemed like she had the habit of changing the topic of the conversation.
“Not yet. They possess numerous powers, both within and beyond the Demon Realm. They’ve allied with outsiders and someone above. I suspect they are under the influence of that ‘being,'” Shen Xian stated, a serious expression taking hold of him.
“Is that why you keep Di Xiuyu close, due to her connection with that ‘being’?” she asked, her tone knowing.
“Exactly. By keeping her near, I can unravel the threads leading to that ‘being.’ Only by confronting and overcoming them can I avenge your past sufferings and liberate the forces they control,” Shen Xian said, a shadow of gloom crossing his smile. If they wished to engage in a game with him, then he would show them how it is truly played.
“But must you pretend to have feelings for her to achieve your ends?” Shen Anshuang asked, disapproval clear in her voice.
“Who told you such a thing?” Shen Xian queried, a hint of confusion coloring his words.
“Didn’t you secretly assign one of the Demon Kings to watch over her? Didn’t you lure her into your hidden chamber for…”
Shen Anshuang scrutinized Shen Xian with a knowing look.
“Mother Emperor, this is absurd! Me? Having sex with her? Don’t even joke about that!” Shen Xian nearly choked on his own indignation.
Shen Anshuang was still a little suspicious.
“Sure, I did send a Demon King for her protection, but that was purely strategic. I need her alive until I achieve my goals. She seems to know who I am as Emperor Ji in the Aquarius Empire. As for calling her to my secret chamber, I want to test something.” he clarified, his curiosity piqued. “But where did these wild rumors even come from?”
“Oh, that demonic cat of yours—what was her name? Xiao Meng? I caught her whispering with Di Xiuyu in my throne room.” Shen Anshuang crossed her arms defiantly.

“Foolish woman! Where is she now? How dare she spread such nonsense? What if A’Lei takes this the wrong way?” Shen Xian’s rage boiled just beneath the surface.
“Calm yourself. It’s not like having a harem filled with thousands of beauties will convince Tai Hua Lei and others that you’re some kind of untouched saint. Besides, I’ve heard tales of your escapades in the Mortal Realm when you were still the Ji Emperor, and didn’t Di Xiuyu’s royal aunt also figure into your list of harem?” Shen Anshuang smirked, enjoying her son’s discomfort.
Shen Xian’s lips twitched.
“But really, my son, tell me—is there any truth to the rumors? Have you really remained untouched? How many men have you… been with? Were you the one in charge, or were you, you know, on the receiving end? Is it as pleasurable as the liaisons between a man and a woman? Have you had any women in your bed? Although, knowing your disdain for them, I can’t imagine you’d have laid a finger on one,” Shen Anshuang pressed on, unabashed in discussing such intimate topics.
For demons, there was no sense of shame when it came to desire.
Shen Xian’s face turned green.
Before she could delve any deeper, he vanished from her sight.
“Wait! I meant to tell him about that girl! She’s such an intriguing character!” Shen Anshuang rushed to catch up with her son.
