Chapter 78: Chapter 78 Special Quest

Michael even ignored the increase in his stats, something he was usually happy to see, as he focused entirely on the notifications he had just seen.
[Your Common★★★ Undead Hobgoblin has evolved to Rare★ Orc Shaman.]
[Your undead Orc Shaman has advanced to Rank 1, Level 1 (Level 11).]
[Your undead Orc Shaman has gained the skill {Fire Manipulation}.]
[You have received feedback from your undead Orc Rank Advancement.]
[Your Strength stat has increased!]
[Your Agility stat has increased moderately!]
[Your Constitution stat has increased!]
[Your Intelligence stat has increased Significantly!]
The race change was something Michael had expected.
However, what he hadn’t anticipated was a completely different evolutionary route.
“What happened? Is it because of the gender?”
Michael thought aloud as a realization struck him.
It seemed plausible, but gender alone didn’t feel like a sufficient reason for the divergence between Beginning and Lily’s evolutions.
Instead, Michael suspected it might have more to do with their race.
Both were still orcs, and “shaman” wasn’t exactly a race—it seemed like a specialization.
Perhaps male orcs leaned towards strength-based specializations, while females focused on magic.
This explanation felt more logical to Michael.
If gender indeed influenced evolutionary paths, then his talent might be somewhat sexist.
Still, if it made him stronger, Michael didn’t really mind his undead evolving based on gender differences.
The potential advantage was increased versatility.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t immediately test his theory, as the only undead he had with both male and female examples were goblins.
To confirm his suspicions, he’d need to observe another type of undead evolve in both genders to determine if the divergence was due to gender or the uniqueness of the race itself.
As he mulled over this, Michael subconsciously turned to glance at Lily.
His eyes lingered for a moment before he quickly looked away, feeling awkward.

Just as he’d expected, she really did grow them. And not just grow them—she grew them huge.
However thanks to the quick peek just now, Michael could make out certain changes in her new appearance.
For one, she was taller than him, though not as tall as Beginning.
She was probably around six feet, which was still plenty tall.
Unlike Beginning’s bulky frame, Lily’s figure was slender.
If not for her white eyes and grayish-green skin, she could’ve passed for an elegant human woman.
It seemed like the more male orcs evolved, the more intimidating they became, while female orcs grew more graceful and striking.
Michael felt a headache coming on.
“Do I have to start buying female clothes now too? Wouldn’t I look like a pervert shopping for underwear?” He muttered.
While undead had functioning bodies, it wasn’t that kind of functionality.
Still, skipping essentials like bras would just lead to awkward situations.
Otherwise, Lily wouldn’t need magic to defeat enemies—her appearance alone could distract them, leaving Beginning to smash their skulls in with his massive fists.
“You know what… it’s not that bad,” Michael thought to himself, feeling a little despicable for a moment.
“Speaking of magic,” he said aloud, trying to shift focus, “this new skill of hers seems to symbolize her specialization.”
Michael turned his attention to Lily’s newly acquired skill.
[{Fire Manipulation} (Basic Mastery) Proficiency: 7.5%]
Fire Manipulation allows the user to create, control, and shape flames.
Current Effects at current Mastery:
Conjures flames strong enough to burn flesh and ignite flammable materials.
Range: Flames can be projected up to 3 meters.
Burn Damage: Causes continuous pain and damage for 5 seconds after contact.
The skill’s effect was amazing, but Michael felt it would be far more effective when paired with an attack skill rather than just throwing flames around randomly.
Still…
“I have a mage now. No, that’s not quite right. But it’s also not accurate to consider the wolves mages either,” he muttered.
Michael decided not to dwell on it too much.
After learning what he needed to about Lily, he hurriedly sent her back to the Netherworld.
Summoning another undead goblin, Michael chose to evolve it immediately, all while taking a quick glance at his stats and quest progress.

And just like that, Michael continued evolving his undead one after the other until finally, another type of notification appeared.
[Your Rank Advancement Quest has been completed.]
[Do you wish to advance to Adept Necromancer now?]
[Y/N]
Michael didn’t respond immediately.
Instead, he pulled up his quest progress and upgraded stats to review them first.

Recalling the posts he had read, Michael ignored the option to advance for now and summoned another goblin to evolve.
After waiting a moment, another panel appeared before him once the goblin advanced.

[Special circumstances have been observed regarding your Rank Advancement Quest.]

[Advancement Quest: Have 20 Rank 1 Undead – Progress: 11/20]
Time Limit: One Week
Reward: Extra levels and other rewards depending on the overall situation surrounding the advanced undead.
A wide smile spread across Michael’s face, especially when he saw the reward section.
The time limit was an afterthought.
Why waste a week completing something he could handle right now?
Without much thought, Michael continued evolving his undead.
His evolution points steadily decreased, while the space around him gradually filled with powerful auras as his storage space reached its limit and could no longer hold any more undead.
