Chapter 561: Captured
Neo felt a pull.

It was as if ‘Willpower’ was being taken away.

He clenched his teeth, and resisted the pull.

Each part of his soul and mind was strained to the limit. He began to bleed through nose and eyes.

A single moment of relapse would make him lose his everything.

He resisted the pull as much as he could.

The woman’s face had a stunned expression.

“What a… willpower. I can see that you have no Willpower Element, yet you can resist my Willpower Manipulation. The Willpower you have is the purest and the deepest I’ve ever seen.

“How have you trained your Willpower to reach such heights?” she asked.

“Looking at your ugly mother’s face every morning was enough to train my willpower.” Neo spat.

By now, he knew these beings were treating him as an exotic zoo animal.

They were so strong that they didn’t need his permission, and they could do anything they wanted with him.

But if Neo went down quietly, he wouldn’t be Neo.

“What…?” the woman asked. Her shock turned into anger and she muttered, “Very well, if you have no intention of having a conversation, then so be it.”

She waved her hand, and Neo’s body was peeled away layer by layer.

First, his skin, then his muscles, then his nerves, followed by organs and finally his bones.

Only his soul was left behind.

The woman put enormous pressure on his soul.

It was strong enough to snap his soul into two halves, yet she made sure his soul forcibly maintained its shape.

Pain flooded Neo’s mind.

Soul was more sensitive than physical body, and the woman seemed to know how exactly to inflict horrible pain on soul.

In that mind-numbing state, Neo barely sensed an invasion into his mind.

The woman… she was trying to check his memories…

Neo’s thoughts were broken and incoherent.

But he knew he couldn’t let her touch his memories. The very thought of losing his memories again flared his Consciousness.

While his soul was being shattered, and repaired repeatedly, he created titanic amount of Madness Intent to attack the woman’s sense of self invading his mind.

This time, the woman had come prepared.

Her mind was able to resist the Madness Intent.

But it slowed her speed of invading Neo’s mind.

It was an opportunity for Neo.

Follow new episodes on the "N0vel1st.c0m".

He wrapped his memories in World Energy, and… he ripped them off himself, sending them to his Cosmos.

The pain of ripping his memories made the pain of soul look like a joke.

It made ■ think that….

Huh?

Who was ■?

What was the man’s name?

■.

He tried to think of his name.

But all he got was a muted response.

He…. who was he?

He could not be nameless, could he?

“You destroyed your memories than to let me see them?” the woman asked, incredulous.

She quickly used Chronomancy to turn back time to before Neo had destroyed his memories.

But….

“Huh? Why… why are your memories not returning? I turned back time! What sort of technique have you used!”

The nameless man looked at the woman, unable to understand the reason behind her anger.

However, for some reason, a sense of disgust and anger rose from his heart when he continued to look at her.

The nameless man shook his head.

He needed to think of his own memories.

He was ■.

A throbbing pain drilled into his head as he tried to recall his name.

He saw the woman observing him, hoping he could get his own memories back, but it mattered not to the nameless man.

He observed himself.

Who was he?

What was he most familiar with?

His existence answered to him. ‘Death’

Something told him he was born of Death.

He was meant to be Death.

To be a perfect existence. To be a perfect Death that was superior to all Death.

But…

He had been imperfect.

That mattered not to his father – his Creator.

If he was imperfect then the Creator just needed to create another Death, this one better. The Creator would continue so until he created the perfect Death.

And so, he was discarded.

Without a name.

Without an identity.

The Creator did not give him a name not because he was angered with him, he just did not care about a failure.

The Nameless Death was told by his Creator to leave, and do whatever he wished to do.

The Nameless Death—

“What is this? Are these the fake memories you suggested to yourself to keep your true ones hidden?” the woman questioned. “Tsk, this is going to be troublesome to handle.”

She crushed his soul, and seed of existence and took off.

Knowing he could not die, it was better to keep the Nameless Death in a stasis to make sure he could not pull any more tricks like memory wipe out.

She returned to her base, and continued to attempt snatching the Nameless Death’s willpower or repairing his memories.

For an unknown amount of time, the Nameless Death was forced to live as a Consciousness.

He was not allowed to revive, and whenever he showed even the slightest attempt of doing so, his body, soul, and seed of existence were obliterated.

In that state, the Nameless Death could hardly think.

But he continued to resist the woman’s attempt at stealing his willpower.

“Dammit, it has been a hundred years! What sort of monstrosity of willpower does he have that it refuses to break or bend!”

The woman needed that ungodly willpower.

However, she needed to break his willpower so that it was easier to take away.

It was supposed to be simple.

There was no way a Stage-3 being who had lived a few thousand years at best could resist her, who was hundreds of billions of years old.

But the Nameless Death seemed to defy all logic.

“Huff! Hufff! Let’s see how long you can resist. If a hundred years isn’t enough, then I will continue this for a hundred thousand years!”

Pain became a constant companion of Nameless Death.

Throughout that blurred passage of time, he heard various noises.

Some told the woman she needed to come to the frontlines. Some told the woman to stop being stubborn and leave the Nameless Death since she could not take away his willpower.

Those words only angered the woman.

She refused to stop until she had broken the Nameless Death’s willpower.

However, one day, a change appeared.

“I greet the Descendent of Great One, Your Majesty,” spoke a voice the Nameless Death had never heard before.

“What do you want?” the woman replied.

“Your Majesty, I have come across the news that you have not joined the war since over a century because you were busy with a little toy?”

“Kria’vyne! Are you saying I neglected my duty—”

“I dare not say that, Your Majesty.” The voice was a slippery one. “I am in awe of your actions of finding a soul that can be turned to a True Berserker.”

“What…?”

“The man has an ungodly willpower, correct? If it’s him, we can finally create a True Berserker! With that, we will be able to regain the upper hand in the war!”

“Kria’vyne, I will not give this man to you for you to turn him into a Berserker. He is mine for I was the one who found him.”

“It is as you have said, Your Majesty. However, the Alliance is in dire need of a weapon that can overturn the situation on the battlefield.”
