Chapter 168: A New Beginning for Bastille! Part-3.
Azul has never been to the outside world before.
He grew up in the underground hidden village, and thus he never knew he saw the real sky.
In fact, even people of Bastille can only see the sky over Bastille; the rest of the sky in the desert is covered with dark clouds after all.
He originally followed Jareth here because he wanted to help out his village, but he was also quite excited to see the outside world with his own eyes.
As he was promised, his sister was sent convicted for her crimes, but she only got two years of jail time because of Jareth’s words.
Due to the urging of the mayor, the court hurriedly completed the Ensha’s case, and in just a mere half an hour, everything was a done deal.
Usually it takes months to properly complete a case, but this one was so fast that it seemed rushed.
Even the judges knew how serious the situation was; a grade-1 mage has a lot of say in the empire after all.
Jareth’s casual words were enough to make them work fast and resolve things according to what he had said.
For grade 1 mages, jail, law, and police, these are just mere decorations; they can’t really do anything to them at all.
A person who even a nuclear bomb can’t kill isn’t considered ‘human’ by the court anymore.
If someone dies due to a grade-1 mage, the court will simply declare that the death occurred due to a ‘Natural Disaster’, not human intervention. Therefore, there is no need to initiate a case in this regard.
Grade 1 mages are considered ‘Natural Disasters’; they aren’t judged like human beings anymore; they are in their own league after all.
This is also the reason why Mayor Zang has been so frightened these past few days.
Even if Jareth kills him in broad daylight in front of a large crowd, no one will blame him.
Instead, there will be people who will clap and come forward to say that Zang must have been a traitor or something.
When you have power to overwhelm a country, common sense doesn’t apply to you anymore. People come forward to stick to you and try to gain your favor even when you are doing bad things.
Mayor Zang has a family to take care of after all; he can’t afford to lose his life. As a grade-3 mage himself, he’s not afraid of death, as he has fought in many battles before.
The thing he is afraid of is that his family will be implicated if something goes wrong.
For a being who can destroy a whole country, killing a few people is just a matter of waving his fingers slightly.
Mayor Zang’s fear has genuine reasons behind it.
Only someone like Shin, who has been hanging around Jareth for a long while, can afford to behave so carelessly; Zang does not have that luxury.
…
Bastille, Central Area, City Park.
‘I wonder what he will say in the conference today…’
A large press conference has been arranged by the mayor for Jareth in this central park.
Azul, Mark, and the rest of the group were also sitting on the chairs that were placed in front of a temporarily made stage.
Hundreds of bodyguards were standing on guard in the whole central park, and dozens of reporters and cameramen had already occupied all the chairs in the place.
Now everyone was waiting for Jareth to come on the stage.
Looking at this scene, Azul couldn’t help but feel nervous.

Although he’s not who’s going to be on the stage, this is the first time he has seen such a grand scene after all.
But this was not the real shocking thing for him.
The biggest shock he got was when he saw Jareth fighting that massive bone dragon.
Azul had heard from his sister that Jareth is one of the strongest people in the whole empire, but he had no idea just how strong Jareth actually was.
Only after seeing Jareth in real combat did he figure out that Jareth is really an insanely strong man.
Azul was already feeling dizzy just by looking at that dragon, but Jareth was able to fight with that beast toe to toe.
And he even won the battle in the end after fighting continuously for three consecutive days.
Jareth’s performance has completely shattered Azul’s worldview.
Azul used to think that the magic of his sister was powerful and amazing, but in front of Jareth’s magic, it was not even worth comparing.
“Uh, Big Bro, when is Vice-principal going to arrive?”
Hearing Azul’s words, Mark couldn’t help but smile happily.
“He should be here soon…”
Originally, Mark was a bit tensed when he found out that Jareth had personally brought Azul as a student.
Mark knew that if Azul has been acknowledged by Jareth as his student, then Azul is likely not a simple guy at all.
In his opinion, Jareth is the most intelligent wizard in the whole empire; everything he does has a reason behind it, so Mark immediately figured out that Azul must have very impressive talent if he can catch even Jareth’s eyes.
Jareth doesn’t seem to like untalented people, but if he finds someone who’s genuinely talented, Jareth always favors them.
Mark has always liked this aspect of him.
After all, being a wizard means that you must be selfish first. Only a student with great talent can return the investment you put in them.
As someone who’s been following in Jareth’s footsteps for a while now, Mark has realized a lot of things.
He was originally going to teach a good lesson to this newbie to assert his seniority, but it turned out that the other party is just a weak village kid who doesn’t even know how to use basic magic properly yet.
There was no point in beating someone so weak.
Mark will not gain any fame or honor from beating someone who’s already too weak for him; it’s pointless.
Then Azul started to call him ‘Big Bro’ after he figured out that Mark was the first disciple of Jareth and referred to Risa as ‘Big Sis’.
Both Mark and Risa were thrilled that they felt like they forgot about making things difficult for Azul.
Mark indeed has a younger sister, but she’s a very mischievous kid who doesn’t even refer to Mark as Big Brother most of the time, so now that someone started calling him ‘Big Bro’, it felt amazing.
On the other hand, Risa doesn’t have any younger siblings, so being called ‘Big Sis’ was a new and happy experience.
She was originally going to give Azul her ‘torture’-related books to read, but then she decided not to do so as that might break her ‘Big sis’ like image.
Azul, on the other hand, was totally unaware that his two seniors were originally planning to beat the sh*t out of him but didn’t do so after they figured out that he was too weak to even bully.
Instead, Azul was thankful that there were others of the same age as him.
But the difference is that Mark and Risa are much stronger than him.
They have received a lot of training since childhood, and thus it will be near impossible for Azul to close the gap in combat power for a short time.
He will likely need a year or two to even catch up to the current abilities of the two of them.
Thinking about his own combat power, Azul sighed and clenched his fist tightly.
‘I must become strong….’
When Azul was still in the village, he was unaware of how things were in the outside world.
He was physically stronger than all the kids of the village and used to be proud of himself as his sister was the strongest in the village.
But only after coming out of that small place did Azul realize that he was a just frog in a well.
Only after coming out of that well did he realize that the world is very big and there are strong people in every corner of the world.
Dangers lurk everywhere.
That insanely strong Bone Dragon was lurking underground for who knows how long.
Luckily it attacked the dungeon, and Jareth was there to keep it in check, but if the dragon had attacked their small village, nothing would have been left alive.
Azul would have lost all his family in a matter of seconds.
Only after witnessing the horror of that bone dragon did Azul realize how insignificant and weak he is in front of dangers of that level.
‘I must become strong, or I will not be able to save those who I care for…’
Azul firsthand saw just how much people fear and respect Jareth. Just a few casual words were enough to get his sister forgiveness for all those crimes she committed over the years.
Now Azul has made it his life’s goal to reach the level of Jareth and protect his loved ones with his own power.
He can’t keep relying on his sister or his newly found master; he must carve out his own path for himself.
That is what Mark and Risa are doing, and he should also do the same.
Without the power to defend yourself, you are nothing in this world; a random bone dragon may burst out of the ground any day and smash your home and family right in front of you.
There is no guarantee that there was only one bone dragon; there may be more in the future.
If he doesn’t have the power to keep his loved ones safe, he will regret and blame himself his whole life.
