Chapter 229: Miasmic Instability… Part-1.
[Basic Magic: Float!]
[Basic Magic: Telekinesis!]
First Jareth cast the float spell on himself and then used telekinesis to cover everyone else in a bubble so that they could follow behind him closely.
“Let’s go…”
Jareth flew into the giant hole in the ground, and the rest of the group followed right behind him inside the bubble made of telekinesis.
*Boom!*
The flying speed of them all was so fast that they caused a sonic boom in the air and flew straight down at an insanely high speed!
‘3 kilometers… The forbidden area is located three kilometers deep… There’s no way this deep hole isn’t man-made, but who could have created such a deep hole here despite this place having the mana barrier…’
The biggest question right now is how this hole in the ground came to be, and there are only two possibilities.
‘Either a huge amount of miasma was fired from below to blast a hole in the ground or someone from the false dome cult dug it after the barrier lost its power in this particular place…’
‘Both scenarios are equally dangerous…’
If the hole has been created by a beam of miasma fired from below, that means there was something powerful in the forbidden area that was capable of firing such a power beam of miasma.
And it likely used this hole to escape outside.
‘But considering that even after spreading out my mana detection, I didn’t sense anyone in the capital city tainted with miasma, this possibility is likely not true…’
‘That means there is someone else with Fisur Jolmoh… That means aside from the weaker member and Fisur, there is likely another grade-1 mage who has earth magic-related powers…’
‘But I can’t remember anyone from the False Dome cult having earth-related powers, though…’
Jareth has fought the false dome cult in the game, but there wasn’t any boss enemy from False Dome Cult with Earth Magic-related powers; the only prominent user of Earth Magic was Allen’s rival, Mark.
‘I guess there are more members in the False Dome cult than it meets the eyes…’
In the game, you never get to go to the main headquarters of the False Dome cult; that’s why Jareth doesn’t know where their headquarters are actually located.
If he knew about it, he would have already stormed in to destroy them all.
‘It would be safe to assume they have quite a few grade-1 mages in their ranks…’
The game was all about the protagonist showing off his powers and beating up bosses here and there.
The protagonist alone beat up everyone in his journey to become the strongest, and finally the game ended with Zion’s death.
Most of the bosses of the False Dome cult are just optional bosses, as they don’t hold much relevance to the main plot; only the leader of the cult, Rahnan, is of most importance.
‘Hmm… if not for the fact that there was no route of collaborating with the enemies, I am quite sure that this game would have had more bad endings…’
Allen’s whole journey is all about beating up the only guy who’s still working hard to save the world at the end.
Indirectly, he’s helping the False Dome Cult by dealing with Zion.
After all, Zion is trying to save the world, and the False Dome Cult is trying to destroy it.
From this point of view, Zion is the biggest obstacle in the path of the False Dome Cult; if he’s dealt with, the world is basically done, as the last hope of the world will go out.
‘Well, I am not surprised by this twisted storyline at all… That’s the type of game it is… and this much is expected from a world completely surrounded by miasma…’

‘Heroes fight and kill each other for no apparent reason, while villains keep laughing at their pathetic selves from far away and enjoy the show happily… a truly hopeless world…’
By now Jareth has heard so many stories and has met so many victims of miasma that he’s not even surprised anymore that the entire main storyline of this game is also corrupted.
‘Well, whatever doesn’t matter to me anyway; I have nothing to do with Zion and Allen in the first place…’
*Boom!*
Jareth increased the speed of flight, and another sonic boom resounded in the area.
‘There it is…’
After flying down for a few seconds at such high speed, the ground became visible, and Jareth took a sharp turn in the air just as he was about to collide with the ground.
He used telekinesis to dissipate the impact of the sudden deacceleration.
“This is?”
Looking around, the group was now standing in a dark corridor; there was a red carpet laid out on the ground.
‘It’s torn apart and tainted with miasma, but this is definitely something that you would find in a royal palace or something… This carpet looks quite expensive just from a single glance…’
‘It was likely blessed with a powerful mana circle…’
Seeing the confused look on everyone’s face, Sylvia explained in a calm voice,
“This place is called a forbidden area, but it’s not actually a barren land with no structures and man-made objects…”
“This place is actually a ruin of an underground military hideout…”
The forbidden area is basically a ruin left behind of what used to be a massive military hideout in long-gone times.
The elves of those times hadn’t yet established a proper empire; people lived in fear of wild beasts and monsters.
Thus they created an underground military hideout to hide and protect themselves from the monsters above.
Clearing out monsters and establishing a nation was a very difficult task, and it needed weaponry and a giant army.
Elves were peaceloving creatures from the very start.
Thus this hideout was created, hidden from the sight of the general populace.
A city came to exist aboveground in this same place, and it later became the capital city of the Elven Empire.
This place was originally supposed to be a place where the Elven royal family would train their soldiers and forge their weapons and artifacts.
The military hideout was created hidden from people’s sight because the military itself isn’t acceptable by the elven people.
Every year, only a few elven people will agree to join the secret army to help out and keep the forest safe for the rest of the population.
“Er… So you are telling me that instead of making your people understand the importance of military and weaponry, you guys did the exact opposite…”
“You made the lives of your soldiers completely pointless… Not only did they become complete outcasts from society and were tasked with sacrificing their lives for the same people who hated them…”
“They even had to live in a place like this where even sunlight doesn’t come?”
Hearing Jareth’s question, Sylvia’s head lowered.
She knew from the start that the philosophies of the elven people are flawed; that’s why she’s so worried about this nation.
“Actually, I am more surprised that your nation has survived up until now… With the way things have been, the elves would have gone extinct thousands of years ago…”
Jareth shook his head and stopped talking about this matter.
He’s become too disappointed in the Elven people by now; there’s no point in repeating the same thing over and over.
It is common sense that food, land, armies, weaponry, and technology are some of the few key things for a nation to flourish.
No matter if you are a peace-loving nation or not, you still need armies and weapons for various purposes.
An army’s work is not only about wars and border safety.
In most cases, it’s the army that is responsible for taking care of powerful disasters.
Monster attacks, demon cults, internal strife, terrorist attacks, and maintaining the peace are just the few basic things that the soldiers do every single day.
Aside from that, in cases of natural disasters like earthquakes and tsunami, the army is the one who goes to risk their own lives to rescue people and give disaster relief.
They are the ones who supply food and resources in case of disasters.
Insulting them and treating them in such a bad way is basically making fun of heroes and their good deeds.
‘Peace loving? gentle natured? Bullsh*t! By tarnishing the honor of your own soldiers, you guys have already proved that you aren’t benevolent and gentle natured…’
‘Sigh… Just thinking about all this causes a headache… I seriously hate such two-faced nonsense the most…’
[Basic Magic: Glowing mana orb!]
Using a glowing mana orb, Jareth lit up the surroundings and started to head deeper into the ruins through the corridor.
‘The inscriptions on the walls here are also quite good; they aren’t at the level of those from the Abyss Altar Area, but they are great nonetheless…’
Jareth glanced at the massive inscription on the wall and asked Sylvia in a curious tone,
“What is this inscription depicting? It has that sword ‘Jamaina’ engraved here, which we saw back there in the armory…”
Sylvia glanced at the inscription and contemplated for a while before saying,
“Ah! This one’s depicting the hero Zion Reid fighting a three-headed serpent with his sword Jamina in his right hand and ‘Light Magic’ in his left…”
“This inscription is to show that the great hero Zion Reid was a genius who could use swordsmanship and magic both at the same time without any problems…”
Jareth nodded his head at those words.
‘Swordsmanship and magic both at the same time?… I see, in other words, in my fight with Zion, he was not using his full powers… The next time he comes looking for me, he will definitely prove to be a more difficult foe…’
