Hidden Schemes… Part-2.
“My thoughts?… hmm, in my opinion, the Blaze family is not worth mentioning… Furthermore, I am not a member of the Blaze family, so I don’t consider the role of the ‘head’ to be significant.
Jareth’s words were clear and confident.
With those words, Jareth made it clear that he had no interest in taking the seat of the head of the Blaze family; moreover, he wanted nothing to do with the Blaze family either.
Before Reynald could come up with something else, Jareth continued,
“But yeah, the head of the Blaze family certainly is a daring man… He should invest in more safety measures; otherwise, the day he laments is not too far…”
Hearing those words from Jareth, the smile on Reynald’s face returned.
“Hehe, indeed, there are many monsters roaming in the capital these days; who knows if one of them ends up being too aggressive…”
With that statement, Reynald made it clear that he didn’t care whether Jareth killed the family head or not; he was free to do whatever he wanted, and Reynald wouldn’t interfere.
Although they were talking in a roundabout manner, both of them could easily understand each other’s hidden meaning.
As the maid poured more wine into his wine glass, Reynald raised it and spoke in an amused tone.
“Similar minds think alike… The lamb’s been getting fat by eating a lot of meat; it’s about time someone deals with its notorious behavior… keheh…”
Jareth nodded his head at Reynald’s words.
After the maid left, Reynald took a sip of the wine and proceeded.
“I recently got my hands on a juicy piece of information; would you like to hear it?”
Jareth nodded his head and replied in his typical cold tone.
“Enlighten me about it, your majesty…”
“The hometown of the Blaze family, ‘Artavia’, has been hit by the ‘nightmare’ in secret…. What do you think will happen soon?”
Jareth’s eyes widened in surprise at those words; he knew all too well what Reynald meant by ‘Nightmare’.
“I see, so that’s how it is… then I guess I will visit the lamb’s grave soon…”
Hearing a satisfactory answer from Jareth, Reynald nodded his head and smiled meaningfully.
“By the way, this information was just the tip of the iceberg… If you want more information…”
Reynald stretched out his hand towards Jareth and said it with an enthusiastic smile.
“Become my vassal, Jareth Blaze; let’s dominate this empire together!”
Hearing those words, Jareth shook his head and replied in a calm tone,
“Those who aim for the sky don’t bend under the might of a mountain… Forgive my rudeness, but I have my own path to follow, your Majesty Reynald….”
Reynald took his hand back and smiled wholeheartedly.
“hahaha… That old fox was indeed right; you are a tough nut to crack. It seems my persuasion won’t work on you… but that’s okay too…”
Jareth nodded his head and replied,
“Well, if you are worried about your son, then don’t be… As long as he stays a student at the university, he won’t die under my surveillance…”
Reynald nodded his head at Jareth’s words and said,

“I see, so you have decided to treat him as your disciple… That’s quite fortunate; if you are his mentor, then I am not really worried about his safety…”
At Reynald’s word, Jareth gave an appropriate counter-reply.
“Well, I don’t really think either of us needs to protect him for too long; he’s going to surpass us both eventually anyway…”
“A genius who works harder than a whole construction team… He has put the entire younger generation to shame…”
Hearing Jareth’s words, Reynald smiled in amusement and replied,
“Hahaha, I heard that Prof. Jareth rarely ever praises someone, but here you are praising Mark that much; people will really misunderstand this as blatant favoritism, you know…”
Jareth simply shook his head.
‘This game has three endings; each one of them is a bad ending… To create a proper future, I would rather choose to believe in a better probability called ‘Mark’…’
‘The protagonist did win in the end, but the core problems of this world will remain the same. We need a better option to create a better route…’
Although Jareth was planning according to the bigger picture, others didn’t have the same mentality as him, so they misunderstood him greatly.
“I think Mark is the possibility that will elevate humans to the next realm; don’t you also believe in that, your Majesty?”
Reynald’s eyes narrowed momentarily as he contemplated something in his mind before speaking.
“I see, so you have noticed it too?… As expected from your amazing perception skills, Prof. Jareth… Indeed, Mark is born with the potential to explore the next realm… He is the possibility for the next realm…”
Reynald’s words were solemn; he knew just how precious this possibility was, and he dared not gamble on it.
“I would prefer it if Prof. Jareth kept this to himself…. If this ‘possibility’ is lost, humans might not get another chance to reach the pinnacle of sorcery…”
After saying that far, Reynald decided to leave. He waved his hand and dispelled the ‘Voice Silence’ magic that he had cast before he started to talk with Jareth.
(You really thought they were talking it out in public? Of course not! By the way, if you really fell for that trick, then don’t worry… author did it on purpose to give you anxiety attacks…)
Jareth was also aware of the spell due to his ‘Mana Singularity’, but he didn’t care why it was occurring.
What made Jareth feel quite amused was how Reynald has cast this magic without using any ‘Chants’.
‘Grade-1 Magicians are indeed something else; they can cast basic-grade spells without even using chants and magic circles…’
Watching Reynald’s leaving back, Jareth’s facial expressions remained cold, but his mind was already working at full capacity.
[Ding! Due to your ‘Mana singularity’s inherent properties, you saw through the ‘chant-less’ magic cast by a grade 1 mage!]
[Ding! As your command over mana is extremely strong, you can now command mana without the need to chant!]
[Ding! You have learned a new passive skill ‘Chant-less Magic’!]
A smirk appeared on Jareth’s face as he sipped the juice from his glass.
‘You shouldn’t have tried to show off in front of me like that… See, I stole your skills without even doing anything….’
‘Mana singularity’ is a mage equivalent to legendary skills like ‘Sword Intent’, ‘Dao Rhythm’, etc.; it gives the user the ability to see through all magic’s and techniques at one glance.
In this world, ‘Sword Intent’ is the pinnacle level skill for all swordsmen, and ‘Dao Rhythm’ is the pinnacle level technique for all martial artists; similarly, ‘Mana Singularity’ is what all mages aim for.
(Fun fact: All of these skills involve the power of the ‘laws’ of the world itself; learning them is a very difficult and daunting task…)
Due to ‘Mana Singularity’, Jareth saw through Reynald’s chant-less ‘basic magic’ in an instant and figured out how to use it himself; he literally just ‘copy-pasted’ that skill on himself.
This is the horror of a ‘legendary’ rank ability; underestimating a user of these types of skills is one of the biggest mistakes you can make in combat.
Although this chant-less magic will only work for ‘Basic Magic’ and will be unusable for attributed magic, it’s still an amazing ability to have.
With this skill, your basic magic will be extremely fast and much more effective.

Once King Reynald left, Shin came back with a curious look on his face.
“What did you talk with the king for so long in such a secretive way? Was he trying to recruit you or something?”
Jareth nodded his head and said in a calm tone,
“He wanted to adopt me into the royal family for some reason; I declined it as it felt kind of weird and awkward…”
Hearing those words, Shin looked at Jareth as if he had heard the most unfunny joke in the world.
“Where did you learn these unfunny ‘dad’ jokes? That one was so cringeworthy. never cook again!”
“Tch! You don’t have a proper knowledge of jokes, so your weak brain can’t comprehend them, and believe it or not, I can indeed cook great food!”
(Fun fact: Jareth learned to cook in order to impress Shiina, but then he found out that her cooking was 100 times better when compared to his ‘half-burnt food’, so he never cooked again…)
Shin rolled his eyes and pointed at his wife.
“Who cares about how good you are at it… I have a loving wife to cook it for me; do you have the same privileges as me?”
Jareth glanced at Shin and asked,
“Then how many times do you do the dishes?”
Black lines appeared all over Shin’s face as he knew that he was a ‘lazy bum’ who never helped out at home and always slept like a log.
“Cough! W-we don’t talk about that… cough!”

Meanwhile, at the same time,.
In the border town of Artavia.
*kaaaahhhh!!!* *HEEELLPP!!!*
A massive worm sucked a man’s “life force” and killed him instantly by turning him into a mummified corpse.
Even after death, horror and fear remained visible on the corpse.
A woman wearing ‘witch’ style clothing appeared and patted the gigantic worm with her hand.
“Good! Just like this, keep extracting souls; my broom got broken; I need a thousand more souls to remake it…”
The worm wriggled in excitement after hearing Abella’s praise and launced at a nearby group of innocent children.
What followed after that was an absolute massacre.
[Report of that day: 669 civilians died in a gruesome way, their bodies mummified and their souls extracted from their bodies, cause Abella ‘The Nightmare’…]
