- Chapter 78 - A Dark Night... Part-3.
A Dark Night… Part-3.
Seeing Jareth treat his own family members in such a cruel manner, all of the recruited warriors and wizards trembled in fear.
Who could have thought that the famous Jareth Blaze was such a cruel-hearted person, He even tortured his family members to death.
Just when they were thinking that Jareth was already done with this place and should leave soon, Jareth’s grimoire shone with mana once again as he raised his hand towards the ceiling.
“You guys have seen too much, and you know a bit too much… I can’t let you guys leave this place just like that…”
When those wizards and mages heard Jareth’s words, desperate looks appeared on their faces.
They are just innocent people, after all; they didn’t even know who they had to fight before seeing Jareth’s face.
Originally, they thought that it was just some small family conflict, but who could have thought that Jareth Blaze, the strongest fire mage in the entire nation, would end up becoming their enemy.
If they had known about this, they wouldn’t have accepted this commission at all.
Some of them already had the idea of running away when they first laid their eyes on Jareth’s face.
The pressure that Jareth emits is just too strong for weak people like them; they didn’t want to lose their lives here, but under the overwhelming strength of a grade-2 mage, they were helpless.
Not to mention fighting back, even breathing felt difficult under Jareth’s intense aura.
However, in order to survive and grab the last chance of hope, a courageous wizard mustered all of his strength to shout in a loud voice with great difficulty.
“Mr. Jareth, I’m ready to sign a life-and-death mana contract! If you spare my life today, I will sign the contract and will never reveal what happened here toda-”
But before the other party could even complete his sentence, Jareth had already completed his magic.
[Basic Magic: Condensed Mana Bomb!]
A massive magic circle appeared in the sky above the whole Blaze Mansion, and a gigantic orb the size of a two-story building emerged from the magic circle.
This orb was made up of condensed mana, and it was descending towards the Blaze mansion at an extremely fast speed.
All warriors and wizards could feel their ‘death’ coming towards them at this moment.
They wanted to run away, but their bodies refused to move, and their mana refused to react due to Jareth’s mana interruption.
“The only people who can keep secrets are dead people… So go ahead and keep my secrets with you…”
*Boom!!*
The massive mana bomb descended on the Blaze mansion, and a gigantic explosion happened.
Jareth had already encircled the entire Blaze mansion with a massive mana barrier, ensuring that no one outside the barrier suffered harm.
In fact, no one even heard the sound of an explosion outside the barrier.
Jareth’s mana control was so precise that he even interfered with the sound and light; thus, no one outside the barrier noticed anything at all.
Moreover, Jareth’s mana barrier stirred the mana on its surface, thus causing it to get blurry.
Which means people couldn’t figure out what was going on inside the barrier if they tried to look from outside because the barrier itself was acting like a wall that didn’t let anything out.
In other words, Jareth caused the disappearance of the whole Blaze Mansion overnight, and not even a single soul found out about it.
When the barrier finally disappeared, Jareth walked out unharmed and unbothered.
A smaller mana barrier kept him safe, so he was okay.

Moreover, he used all of his mana this time, so he was able to do multiple castings at the same time, as he wasn’t intending on saving mana at all.
During the battle at the border city, Jareth was only doing double-casting because he wanted to save mana, but right now he had no such need.
He used mana interruption, mana suppression, two mana barriers, and a mana bomb all at the same time.
Which means he was capable of casting five different spells at the same time.
Jareth glanced back at the destroyed Blaze Mansion and sighed.
‘Even a big family can turn into rubble after offending the wrong person… If they hadn’t made me feel so disgusted… I wouldn’t have needed to kill innocent people…’
Jareth shook his head and slowly started to walk away from the scene.
The whole Blaze mansion was turned into broken rubble by him, and not a single person was left alive inside the whole mansion.
Except for that old guard who left early due to Jareth’s warning, none had survived this disaster.
‘If I remember correctly, that old guard is a distant relative of Jareth’s mother… He showed some kindness to Jareth’s mother when she tried to escape with the baby…’
‘I guess… leaving him alive can return this favor… In the first place, even if he revealed the truth to the world, I don’t think I would be much affected…’
Jareth can destroy a Blaze family overnight, so he can also destroy a few ungrateful people too.
‘But I think he is a sensible person; he won’t reveal it as he doesn’t want his children to get into trouble…’
Although Jareth came here for revenge, he’s not a bloodthirsty murderer who will go and kill every single living being related to the Blaze family.
‘The main culprits have been dealt with… Next, that assassination organization is left…’
Jareth’s mother and the vassal family that raised him were both assassinated by the same assassination organization on the order of the Blaze family.
Although they had only been doing their duty and they had no personal grudges with Jareth, how could Jareth let them go after they messed up his life three times in a row!
Yes! Not only did that organization kill his mother and the Vassal family, but they were likely also involved in turning Jareth into a miasma-infected beast.
Although this was not a confirmed fact, after meeting Kaiden for the last time, Jareth already has many thoughts in his mind.
Kaiden has a very shrewd and twisted personality.
He enjoyed messing up Jareth’s life as much as he could. He even preserved the corpse of Jareth’s mother for more than twenty years!
This shows how much of a sadist that guy actually was.
It won’t be wrong to assume that he must have hired the assassination to infect Jareth with miasma or something in the original plot of the game.
This way, Jareth’s already-destroyed reputation would have been completely wiped out, and the Blaze family would also have a legitimate reason for killing Jareth.
Demons, demon worshippers, and miasma-infected people—all three of them are not tolerated inside the human empire, and they will be killed on the spot if found.
In other words, Kaiden likely used miasma to deal with the already struggling Jareth in a more cruel and sadistic way.
‘Not that I have dealt with the Blaze family, I will need to dig up some information about this assassination organization… I will butcher them all after I find out about them…’
Jareth had already killed people in his previous life; he wasn’t an innocent guy at all.
He’s not affected by the fact that he has to kill some fellow humans.
While walking through the empty streets of the city, Jareth glanced at the moonless sky and sighed.
‘Shiina… I think I might have become more corrupted now… I may not be able to look into your eyes after death…’
Although Shiina is not in this world, Jareth thinks of her as an emotional support. To him, she is the reason why he hasn’t become corrupted by the cruel nature of this world.
With power come arrogance and evil thoughts; great power brings corruption with it, and if your mind is not firm enough, you will end up becoming a bloodthirsty murderer.
That’s not what Jareth wants to do.
He wants to keep himself sane even after facing the cruel nature of this world.
‘I kind of understand the meaning of that quote that showed up in the game menu every time I logged in…’
{A world corrupted with power cannot progress further,
A genius with an overwhelming ego can’t lift the sky further,
A stalemate cannot be maintained in front of increasing corruption,
And in a world where returning to ??r? is impossible,
Maintaining your sanity is not easy either.}
-prophecy of the first great king
‘Although I still don’t know who this ‘first great king’ is… The game really has some great quotes in it…’
Jareth did indeed finish that game many times, but he wasn’t a big fan of game lore at all.
He only played it because of its great combat system; he was uninterested in the rest of it.
Aside from the menu screen, there are no mentions of the ‘First Great King’ in the game’s main story, so Jareth has no idea about him.
‘It’s likely that the game developers were planning some kind of DLC content, but since the game didn’t earn them much, they must have cancelled it later…’
Jareth was not too worried about it all, though. Although it wasn’t in the game, this world still has various records of history hidden in secret places.
He may find those records eventually when he goes on some explorations.
‘I need to improve my grade first… Only then can I have the confidence to go out and explore this vast world…’
Jareth has finally come to a vast magical world; it would be a huge waste to spend the rest of his life teaching students.
He has decided that he will train a few excellent disciples, and then he will leave the human empire to travel the world.
‘Let’s stop thinking about it now… This goal is still too far away…’
