Chapter 967: Why Did We Have Kids?
Once again, Seras stood alone within the Garden of Eden as the wind whistled around her.

Loose petals billowed through the ribbons of her hair and tickled her ears with sweet kisses.

Out of nowhere, her body started to move.

Unlike the first time she performed this dance, her movements were not quite so refined and formal as they were before.

They were a bit more chaotic. More full of life.

They evoked the bursting emotions of the human experience. The dance started out slow, but bright. Like a child stumbling its way through the bright fog that was the early stages of life.

As the dance progressed, she became more and more emotionally volatile. Her movements spoke of constraint, breaking free, and finding joy amongst the panic.

This was different from the Chaos that the troublesome egoless brought. This was Anarchy. A complete upheaval of barriers and impediments obstructing mankind, created by mankind.

At the peak of Seras’ dance, she was belligerently wild and free. Unconstrained and unbarred.

She laughed as she cried tears of blood from her beautiful ruby eyes.

She would give her body, her soul, for everyone with her blood in their veins to be this free. This unburdened.

There was such rich joy in this experience. She required nothing. She wanted for nothing. She was so happy.

But she wept because she could feel the need mortality had for this experience. Through her blood, she could feel them crying out for some form of relief.

If she could, she would place the entire world in front of them, and their only curse would be that they may not live long enough to explore it all.

It was soul-crushing. But Seras had hope.

Nothing in existence is here for no reason. Everything has it’s place. It’s day in the sun.

One day, she would have hers. Anarchy would reign. Freedom would spring from the cracks in the ground like water from a broken dam.

And then… honestly, she wasn’t sure what would happen. But that was the beauty of it all.

Perhaps she would see mankind build a new system from the ashes of what once was. And it would be better than the last.

And if it wasn’t… Anarchy was a corrective force of change. A hard reset, if you will.

As the dance reached it’s end, Seras’ laughter outshone her sorrow.

Her body and soul felt as light as a feather. Her heart was singing.

Never before had she realized just how much being a deity of war was weighing her down.

Now that she had shed that role, or more accurately, evolved it, she was in a new state of existence, body, mind, and soul.

She didn’t feel the need to continue chasing a peak that even she could no longer see. As she was now, she was enough.

She was splendid, sorrowful, blessed Anarchy. And she loved herself now more than she ever had before.

In all of her days, she never thought that she would be able to say that about herself. It was more euphoric than touching a star.

Seras’ dance came to a slower, more relaxed end, like the birth of a new civilization.

With the final movement, her routine was complete, and even though she had hardly exerted herself compared to her usual exercise, she was completely out of breath.

As she wiped away the sweat from her forehead, she looked up when she heard the sound of footsteps coming towards her.

Looking up, she found Abaddon staring at her with all four eyes wide open. An expression of immense joy and pride on his face.

“…If I haven’t told you this enough for as long as we’ve been married…” He walked towards her in a haze, perhaps even he was not aware of the fact that he was moving. “Please, believe me when I say it now…”

He dropped to his knees in front of her and took both of her hands in his. He stared at her longingly, like the last time he held her within his arms was too long ago to remember.

“You… are…”

“Ironman.” Seras displayed a rare sense of humor as she held out her palm.

Abaddon burst into a fit of laughter that warmed her chest even further.

“Not quite where I was going, but sure.” He laughed. “It’s good to know you were actually paying attention during those movies.”

Seras embraced him warmly. “Well, when you and Bell are tapping me on my arm every two seconds, asking me if I saw something, I kind of don’t have a choice but to pay attention.”

For a moment, the two of them said nothing as they enjoyed the familiar feeling of each other’s skin.

Abaddon placed his lips on the top of her head and kissed her through her hair.

“Incredible.”

He said the word like he was trying to speak it into her very being, and hoping it would take root in her very soul. It was a choice that Seras did not overlook.

“Thank you…”

Their eyes met again, and they found themselves smiling shyly like a pair of naive lovers.

She leaned in first. He followed swiftly after.

Their lips were poised to connect in a warm-

“No! Get away from each other, you two deviants! Right now!”

Lisa appeared out of nowhere and broke up the two of them before their lips could connect.

“H-Hey..!”

“L-Lisa!”

“Don’t ‘Lisa’ me.” She held both of them by the horns. “We’ve already extended our honeymoon twice because none of you can seem to keep your hands off each other. We have to go back home now.”

Seras flashed the first pair of puppy dog eyes that she had ever tried to use in her life.

“I-It was only going to be one little kiss…”

She had forgotten that 9,000 years of raising children and being a deity of motherhood had made Lisa completely immune to such trappings.

“Bull. Shit. It started with a kiss three weeks ago. I go downstairs for juice, come back, and our husband’s tongue is in your ass.”

Abaddon’s face was robotic and showed not the slightest hint of shame or regret.

“Fine, fine…” Seras sighed in disappointment. “…But will you kiss me at least?”

“When you’re dressed.” Lisa said firmly.

Seras snapped her fingers, and she was suddenly wearing a thin red robe the same color as her eyes.

It did nothing to make her look less alluring.

Lisa gulped as she could feel the allure of those soft, cherry lips inviting her in.

She could do this. She was a woman who knew how to practice the art of restraint.

It was just a short little peck. Nothing had to come of it other than a reaffirmation of their love.

Right? Right.

Lisa sighed and leaned in, preparing to be over and done with the kiss lightning quick.

….

Sometimes, preparation doesn’t mean a damned thing.

– Four Weeks Later.

“W-We’re home!”

Lisa held out her arm for the room full of her kids, seemingly waiting for them to run up to her.

In the living room, the kids looked up from their phones for a split second to wave at their parents while letting out vague grunts.

Lisa’s enthusiasm plummeted.

“What’s it been? Like a day since we last saw you?” Apophis asked.

“We were just stopping in to check up on you, but we’re back full-time now!”

“Oh… cool. We doing dinner tonight, or…?”

“Ah, I have a date tonight, so don’t worry about me.” Courtney raised her hand. “Glad you all are back though.”

Nubia looked up from her magazine with a light of inspiration in her eyes. “Oh, do any of you have some clothes you don’t mind donating? I have a new concept I’m interested in trying out.”

To the kids, their father and mothers had only been gone a couple of days.

For them to have the kind of reaction that Lisa was expecting, they would have needed to be gone a lot longer.

But for the parents, who had been gone for close to a year, this reaction was more than a little crushing.

‘Ga!’

Like a ray of sunshine, Odessa came waddling up to her parents with her arms stretched out and a gummy smile on her face.

“Oh, there’s mommy’s baby!” Lisa dropped to her knees and held out her arms.

…Odessa ran right past her to hold out her arms for Abaddon.

He scooped her up without thinking, completely oblivious of what it might do to Lisa’s sanity.

The next thing he knew, he heard an abrupt thunk as Lisa fell face-first onto the floor.

“B-Babe…!”

“Just leave me here…” Lisa said through the wooden floor. “What did I even bother rushing home for if none of our children were going to miss me…? I could’ve stayed in paradise getting my brains banged out every day…”

“EWW!” Unanimous cries of disgust and horror flew out of the children’s mouths quicker than bullets from a gun.

“Oh, can it. You’re all grown now.” Lisa grumbled.

Abaddon patted her back as she tried to sink into the floor, barely resisting the urge to smile.

“You know, love… It’s not too late to go back and…”

Abaddon’s words trailed off as he saw a horrific, detestable sight in the hallway.

Shin Nagumo was in his house. Walking in close proximity to his Aunt Lusamine.

And they were laughing.

“What. The. Fuck..?”
