Chapter 104: The Surprise Birthday Party 3

Senator Gregory stepped out of his car, exhausted from a busy day at the office. He was received by his ever-dedicated and loyal mansion butler, who was waiting patiently by his car.

“Good evening, sir.” Sam bowed curtly as he received the Senator’s briefcase.

“Hmm…” The senator nodded his head in response while he continued speaking to someone over the phone. He was so busy with his phone conversation that he failed to see the excitement in Sam’s eyes as the latter led him towards the mansion entrance.

All day, the senator had been busy with some of his colleagues, working tirelessly on confirming the president’s nominations of senior diplomats. He didn’t recall that today was his birthday because no one called to wish him a Happy Birthday. Not even his darling daughter, who has never for once forgotten his birthday.

It was just like a normal peaceful evening for the senator as he strode into the mansion. But to his astonishment, everywhere was dark inside the mansion. This forced him to peel his phone from his ear, a crease appearing on his forehead.

“Sam, what is the meaning of this?” The senator asked in an irritated tone.

However before Sam could reply to the senator’s question, the light inside the mansion came on and everyone, who was already gathered in the spacious foyer screamed.

“Surprise! Happy birthday!”

While some of the female guests both young and old were blowing confetti and cheering loudly, others were singing the Happy Birthday song.

Senator Gregory was speechless, exuberance bubbling inside of him like a dog with two tails. He ended his earlier phone call and clapped his hand, a cosmic smile framing his tired face as his eyes fell on Amelia looking like the spitting image of her mother.

“Happy Birthday, darling.” Regina strutted over to her husband, smiling sweetly as the band serenaded them with more happy birthday songs. She kissed him tenderly on the lips amidst wild cheers and a pair of ogling eyes -who couldn’t get enough of her big round ass.

“Thank you, my dear.” Senator Gregory reciprocated Regina’s fake show of love with a peck on the cheek and a warm hug.

“I hope you love the surprise, Gwen and I threw for you,” Regina said, beaming sweetly as she watched Amelia and Gwen approaching from the corner of her eyes.

“Is that so?” The senator raised an eyebrow playfully at his wife, catching the hidden message behind her statement.

“Yes, dear. We wanted you to know how much we love you.”

“Thanks, dear.”

“Happy birthday, daddy.” Gwen was the first to hop into her father’s open arms, almost pushing Amelia down in the process.

“Thank darling.” The senator embraced his second daughter warmly before releasing her.

Amelia waited calmly for Gwen to finish up with her pretentious display of affection, before also wishing her father a happy birthday.

“Thank you, my angel. I’m happy you came around. You look amazing.” The senator complemented, holding onto his daughter as he made his way into the living room amid more congratulatory cheers and birthday wishes.

A huge birthday cake with candle lights was brought before the senator, the flickering candles illuminating the exhilarating glow in his light glow in his eyes.

“Oh my…” His heart was full of joy as he blew out the candles and listened to his family and friends sing for him.

“Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear, Gregory, happy birthday to you.”

Even Nana, though slightly weak from taking her medication, was brought down to take a group picture with the family.

Although Amelia tried to speak with her, taking advantage of the joyous atmosphere, Nana Shawls still refused to respond. She only wished her son a happy birthday and asked her personal nurse to take her back to her bedroom.

As the euphoria of songs and cheering waned, Senator Gregory expressed his happiness in words.

“You all have outdone yourselves.” Senator Gregory’s glimmering eyes scanned through all the faces staring back at him. Some of them he left at the office on his way out. He had no idea how they had all arrived at his home before him.

“Words cannot express how I feel. All I can say is thank you a million times for sparing time from your very busy schedule to honour and celebrate me. To my beautiful wife and my lovely daughters, mother, brothers and every extended member of the Shawl family gathered here this evening, I say a very big thank you. Let’s enjoy the party.”

Drinks and tasty treats were passed around as guests and family alike broke into small groups, chatting and laughing amongst themselves.

The Shawls family came together to discuss Amelia while the latter kept her father company with his friends discussing business and politics.

From where Regina was standing, she could barely contain her anger and jealousy as her husband kept holding onto Amelia like a piece of treasure. She thought about Amelia’s confession a few minutes ago before the senator’s arrival and grinned evilly at the thought of ruining her relationship with her father.

Regina believed Amelia when the latter said she was married to Blaze Anderson. All the information she provided checked out, especially on the part of having her so-called husband torture her ex. She knew Amelia was out for blood. But then her father was her weakness. If Amelia wanted to play dirty, so would she.

“Sam,” Regina called the attention of the mansion butler.

“Yes, ma’am,” Sam walked up to her his head lowered.

“Instruct all the maids to keep all our guest glasses refilled for a toast.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

A few minutes later, Regina rang a small bell to get everyone’s attention. She slowly made her way to where her husband was standing, flaunting her sexy body to most men’s admiration.

“Amelia, if you don’t mind, I would like to have my husband back.” She said sweetly, her voice laced with a hint of irritation and mockery.
