Chapter 106: Who Did This To You?
“He is your what?” Senator Gregory snatched his hands from Amelia’s hold, abruptly standing up. His breath was heavy and his gaze alarmed. He shook his head while staring at his daughter in disbelief.
“You are kidding. This is all a joke, right? Please tell me this is all one expensive joke.” He said even though he could read the writing clearly on his daughter’s reddened face.
Amelia slowly stood up to meet her father’s somewhat alarmed and angry gaze.
“I’m sorry Dad….”
“Don’t!” The senator snapped angrily cutting Amelia off. “Not one more word.”
Amelia was stunned to see her father completely change into a stranger, as his eyes narrowed at her, almost piercing through her soul.
“How could you, Amelia.” The senator’s voice was dripping with fury as he spoke between clenched teeth. “What has come over you? Are there no better men out there to choose from? How could you do such a stupid thing? How could you choose sadness over happiness? How could you choose a devil instead of an angel?”
“At least the devil I know is better than the demons clothed in angel robe.” Amelia said, holding her father’s piqued gaze.
“Do not give me that crap, Amelia.”The Senator snapped at her. Do you have any idea who that young man is? Do you know why everyone dreads him? Didn’t you see what he did to your sister and Jerry? That you man has made a pact with the devil after his father’s death. He is not a rational human being. He kills, enslaves and destroys. I won’t have you destroy this family by getting involved with that young man. He is bad news and you must stay away from him.”
Amelia could feel her heart breaking at her father’s words. But she braced herself for the worst and stood her ground. Holding her father’s gaze, she said boldly.
“I’m sorry, Dad. I can’t stay away from my husband. We are already married.”
“Then you will divorce him.” Senator Gregory said in a deadpan tone.
Just then Regina, escorted by Matt and Gwen, all joined the senator and Amelia at the terrace.
“Bro, what is going on here? Have you forgotten you have guests out there waiting for you?” Matt demanded, pretending not to observe the tension between father and daughter.
“Did you hear me, Amelia?” The senator totally ignored his brother as he rephrased his question. “I need your response that you would do as I have said. You will divorce that heartless man first thing tomorrow morning.”
“Splendid!” Regina grinned in triumph.
“Divorce?” Matt kept up his pretense, acting as though he had no clue whatsoever about their discussion. “Who is she divorcing?”
“I guess Dad is referring to that Blaze Anderson, the one Amelia asked to have Jerry and I arrested and beaten up?” Gwen explained to her uncle, acting all innocent.
“What!” Senator Gregory boomed, snapping her head to stare at his younger daughter.
Amelia cursed Gwen in her heart, as she held back the urge to pounce on her and shred her two pieces.
“It is the truth, Dad. Amelia confirmed those words herself when she bragged to everyone about being the wife of a ruthless psychopath.”
“You f*cking b*tch…” Amelia moved menacingly towards Gwen, but her father blocked her path, grabbing her by the wrist. He pulled her away from her sister and demanded in a deadpan tone.
“Were you aware that your so-called husband had your sister and Jerry arrested?”
“They deserved it and more.” Amelia replied between clenched teeth, angrily wiping a tear that escaped her shimmering eyes.
Senator Gregory’s face paled, his bulging eyes almost popping out of the socket as he stared at his daughter in complete shock.
“What has come over you, Amelia? This is not you speaking. This is not the girl I raised with my late wife.”
“She’s doing all of these just to punish Gwen for taking Jerry from her.” Regina came up behind her husband, stroking him tenderly on the back. And this time around, her husband didn’t shun her, giving her the green light to draw out her claws. “To think she had her sister tortured and arrested without considering Gwen’s pregnancy is so inhumane.”
“Shut the f*ck up, Regina.”

Amelia felt her head whip sideways as her dad’s hand came in contact with her cheeks for the first time ever.
Gwen’s eyes widened in excitement.
Matt inwardly applauded his brother.
Regina released a breath of satisfaction, her eyes brimming with victory as she spoke pretentiously.
“Honey, you shouldn’t have done that. Amelia is still a child.”
“I won’t have her behaving like a rascal under my roof.” Senator Gregory said between clenched teeth, angry tears falling from his eyes as he stared at the reddened handprint on Amelia’s right cheek.
Amelia slowly turned her face to look at her father, her heart shattered into a million pieces as though she had just witnessed his death. She stared silently at him, her tears falling freely.
Senator Gregory hated himself more than ever for allowing his emotions to get the best part of him.
“You pushed me, Amelia. None of this would have happened if you had just listened and do as I said. You will divorce that man and my words are final.’
“I can’t,” Amelia whispered wiping her following tears with the back of her hand.
“You can’t or you won’t?” The senator growled in a half-suppressed tone.
“Amelia, please do as your father has said.” Matt came up to her, pretending to be the good uncle who had come to rescue his niece. “Can’t you see you are making him angry? Do not push him any further to hit you. Today is a happy day and you’re ruining the family’s joy.”
Amelia’s fist clenched and unclenched at Matt’s words. She tilted her head to look at him, like a hungry predator assessing its prey, her narrowed eyes shooting flare.
Matt slowly backed away, unsure of the evil thought that had possessed Amelia’s mind.
Reverting her attention to her father, Amelia said bluntly her voice lacking every trace of empathy, love and warmth.
“I won’t divorce him.”
“Then you give me no choice…” Senator Gregory’s face turned hardened as well, his breath raspy and his heart bleeding as he said these harsh words to his precious daughter, hoping his threat would make her change her heart. “It is either him or this family. Your choice.”
Amelia’s heart darkened even more at her father’s words, her cheeks burned from his physical assault. Her gaze narrowed and her lips thinned out.
“You already made that choice for me when you chose to hit me, Dad.” She said between clenched teeth.
“Amelia don’t be unreasonable. I’m sure there are millions of men out there who want to date you. Listen to Father. He…”
“Shut the fuck up, Gwen!” Amelia yelled at the top of her voice taking her father and everyone by surprise. Her high-pitched voice attracted the rest of the gang to the terrace, all of them happy to see the inseparable father and daughter against each other.
“What is going on here?” Desmond asked walking up to his brother. “We could hear your voices from a mile away.”
“Why don’t you ask your niece?” Senator Gregory sighed, shaking his head from side to side.
“Amelia, what’s happening? Why are you crying?” Desmond attempted to touch Amelia on the cheek but she slapped his hands away.
“Amelia!” Desmond was stunned.
“Uncle Des, let her be before she turns on you too,” Gwen warned, her voice laced with malice. “She has been acting wild, insulting mom, dad and even me.”
“She has completely lost her mind.” Regina shook her head in pity, grinning inwardly.
“I’m not surprised.” Jerry’s deep voice rapped in Amelia’s ears as he came up and stood behind his wife.
“She lacks no manners at all.” Pearl sneered also walking up to Gwen’s side.
“Amelia, you can still redeem yourself. Just do the right thing and apologize to your father and mother. That heartless man is not worth fighting for.” Matt faked another sympathetic plea.
“Which heartless man!” A deep, cold and dangerously terrifying voice echoed from the entrance causing everyone to turn around.
Cladded in an all-black tailored, well-fitted suit, with a sleek trench coat giving him that mafioso dark aura, Blaze stood by the entrance to the terrace, leaning his left shoulder on the door frame, one leg crossed on the other and one of his hands smartly tucked inside his pocket. His dark, narrowed and laser beam gaze was focused on Matt, almost boring a hole through his head.
His presence caused everyone to freeze on a spot as though they were all under some sort of magnetic force. It seemed as if winter had arrived way too early in summer. The chill in the air was real, nerve-wracking and terrifying.
“It’s him….” Gwen’s face turned white as though she had seen a ghost.
“He’s here?” Jerry felt as though he was about to suffer from a heart attack as he stared at the hefty-looking men standing behind Blaze. One of them was smirking devilishly at him in recognition and the thought of enduring another torture made his skin turn pale.
“Blaze…” Amelia smiled between tears, unable to contain her joy at the sight of him. Here she was thinking she was all alone in this battle against her wicked family when he was just a stone’s throw away from her. A bitter-sweet smile framed her lips as he strode purposefully towards her, holding her shimmering gaze.
Everyone standing around her seemed to blur out into the background as she held those bewitching dark, cold grey eyes that burned with a consuming fire. She felt her skin melt like butter as his cold hands came in contact with her warm skin, gently stroking the reddened handprint on her face. Her breath caught in her throat as he leaned closer to her ear, his warm breath fanning her skin.
“Who did this to you?” Blaze asked between clenched teeth.
