Chapter 109: Manipulation
Amelia didn’t recall bumping into any guests as she left her father’s mansion with her husband. She didn’t even see Sam, who was always there to receive guests and see them out of the mansion. But outside the mansion, she was stunned by the majority of her father’s security men lying unconscious on the concrete floor.
“Are they all dead?” She asked her husband, panic lacing her tone.
“What do you think?” Blaze replied to her question with a question.
“They are not dead,” Amelia replied hopefully.
“Then you have nothing to worry about. They are just sleeping from a tranquilizer dart.” Blaze guided her into the rear seat of his black Roll Royce. He signalled Fred to move after dishing out instructions to someone Amelia had never seen before.
“What about all the guests and servants in the mansion? What did you do to them?” Amelia continued with her questions, which were beginning to grate on Blaze’s nerves.
“My men took care of them.”
Amelia’s eyes widened. “They killed all of them.”
Blaze’s forehead furrowed, as stared at his wife, whom by way he was very proud of after listening to and watching her bravery before her family of sharks.
“Come on Amelia, I’m not a monster. I do not hurt innocent people except those who already have their hands dirty. I didn’t want any of the guests to interfere in our activities. So I simply persuaded them through that nice old man to move to the mansion ballroom while we took care of business. All the non-serving servants were sent to their quarters.”
“Oh!” Amelia released a sigh, relaxing her back on the seat. “Thanks.”
“You are welcome.”
Amelia had a lot of questions to ask him, but her mind was too preoccupied with the things happening back at the mansion. She was hoping that by now, her father would have seen the email. She brought out her phone and was about to check when a thought flashed across her mind.
“Stacy.” She turned sharply to look at Blaze.
“Already left the venue with Clay. She should be at home resting by now.” Blaze shifted closer to her, tired of all her boring questions. He gently pushed her hair from her face revealing the side of her cheeks which bore the reddened handprint of her father.
Amelia jerked a little as his finger softly brushed across her skin, his feathery touch so warm and electrifying.
“We have to do something about this before my grandparent’s arrival. And next time, try to avoid this because I wore spare the life of any man that hurt one strand of your hair again be it your father, uncle, grandmother or relatives.” He leaned closer, kissing her tenderly on the cheek.
“You are joking about hurting my grandmother and father right.” Amelia tilted her head to face him, her alarmed eyes brimming with unbelief.
“Do I look like the joker to you, sweetheart?” Blaze claimed her lips before she could ask more questions.

Senator Gregory woke up the following morning in his bedroom with a banging headache and a sharp pain in the back of his head. He winced as he rolled out of bed, surprised to see himself in his pyjama. He tried to massage the back of his head when he felt a bandaged patch on the back of his head.
“What! Where did this come from?” He queried his thoughts. The more he tried to remember how he ended up in his bed, the more his head ached as though it was about to explode.
Just then, the door to his bedroom was pushed open.
The senator looked up and was surprised to see Regina, accompanied by the family doctor, Lin Fox and his brother Matt.
Regina was wearing neck braces and her face bore a few healing cuts and bruises like someone who had gone into a cat fight.
Matt had a bandage around his head and another around his right arm.
“What is going on here and what in Christ’s name happened to you two?” The senator winced, massaging his forehead as talking was even giving him more headaches.
“You are supposed to be resting, honey. Here take this glass of water and aspirin I brought you. It will help with the headache.”

Regina, acting the part of a devoted wife collected a tray from the maid behind her. She moved with great difficulty to her husband as if in so much pain and handed him the glass of water and medicine.
Senator Gregory felt anger bubbling inside of him as he stared at his wife’s cut lips, bruised forehead and the braces around her neck.
“Tell me, who did this to you?”
“Just take your drugs and let the doctor check you. At least we are alive. That is more important,” Regina said weakly, squeezing out a few tears to perfect her Oscar-winning act.
“Matt…”
“Just take your medicine brother. When the doctor certifies you out of danger, we will tell you everything that happened last night.” Matt said in a sober voice, stroking his actually bruised arm.
The senator was more furious than ever as he grudgingly took his medication which had been laced with a hallucinating drug.
All four corrupt individuals in the senator’s bedroom watched with satisfaction as he swallowed the medication.
“Now can you stop treating me like a child and tell me what the hell happened to us last night?”
“Let me check your breathing and your head, senator. You receive quite a blow.” The doctor said, dropping his doctor bag on the bed and bringing out his stethoscope.
“Lin, speak!” The senator roared, causing a sharp pain to shoot up his brain. He held his head with both hands as the drug slowly began to kick in.
“We were attacked last night, sir during the surprise birthday party hosted by your wife,” Lin replied, grateful that she wasn’t physically present during the invasion by Blaze’s men. She was certain that he would have shot her with a real bullet.
“Attacked? Who attacked us?” The senator pushed further as blurry fragments of memories from the birthday celebration flashed across his mind.
“We were attacked by Amelia’s husband,” Regina spoke up, sitting beside her husband and shedding more crocodile tears.
The senator’s eyes widened as a face and a name flashed across his memories, filling him with dread.
“Blaze Anderson?”
“Yes dear, he is the one responsible for everything,” Regina said, activating a chain of aggression, resentment and delusion in her husband.
