Chapter 126: Grocery Shopping
Back at the studio, the flashing light coming from Tina’s phone told her that she had just received a message.
“Who could that be?” She hissed, thinking it was her director or one of the producers hoping to catch a free drink with her.
Ignoring the phone, she settled down on her desk, spreading out a take-out pack of spicy sushi and diet coke.
“Yum!” She moistened her lips, as she picked up the Diet Coke and popped it open. She took a sip of the chilled drink and smacked her lips. She dipped a slice of the maki roll and was about to pop it into her mouth when the flashing lights came up again.
This time it was a call and not a message.
Craning her neck a bit, she discovered that the caller was Remy and not the producer or director.
“What does this pest want now?” Tina scrunched her face glaring at the ringing phone. “Didn’t he leave here a few minutes ago to go pick something from the shopping mall or has he forgotten to take cash as usual?” She hissed as she picked up the phone and slid the receive button.
“What!” Tina barked into the receiver. “Can’t I enjoy my food in peace?”
“Come to the shopping mall right now?” Remy whispered almost inaudibly from the other end.
“Is this some kind of sick game of yours?” Tina was more infuriated than ever. “Why are you whispering?”
“Check your message, for goodness sake.”
The line disconnected leaving Tina in a daze. Remy would never hang up a call on her except if he had a death wish or he couldn’t speak over the phone.
Realisation slowly dawned on her as she quickly tapped on the text message sent by Remy. What she saw hit her like lightning, leaving her completely shocked and at the same time elated.
[Remy: I just saw Amelia walking into the shopping mall right now. Come quickly. I’m following her.]
Instantly, Tina abandoned her food leaving everything open as she dashed out of the studio with her handbag and phone. Thankfully the shopping mall was a few blocks away from the studio and she didn’t have to drive down there.

Pearl had initially planned to spend the night with her sister and niece at the hospital. However, when her monthly circle came knocking at her door unexpectedly, she was forced to adopt a temporary remedy while she left for the shopping mall to get a set of tampons and a new set of clothes.
After making her purchase, Pearl went straight to the ladies to tidy up her slightly stained black gown. Feeling more secure and in charge of her affair, Pearl left for the mall exit.
Seven metres away from the exit, she spotted a familiar face, strolling elegantly into the shopping mall with two of her intimidating minions closely behind her.
“Well, well, who do we have here?” Pearl grinned to herself, quickly taking shelter behind a group of family chatting happily and taking pictures.
She watched Amelia take the left wing in the direction of the food court and followed discreetly, sliding on her sunglasses to disguise her look.
Pearl observed Amelia pick up a shopping basket close to the counter and disappear into one of the aisles.
Pretending to also be grocery shopping, Pearl also picked up a shopping basket and followed the part that led to the vegetable aisle.
From where she was standing and checking out some fresh radishes, she could overhear Amelia speaking to the sales attendant, asking the latter to identify some specific vegetables.
“When did the brat start grocery shopping?” Pearl suppressed a snort as Amelia mistakenly called an eggplant cucumber.
Meanwhile, Amelia was having a hard time recognising the different vegetables on the list on her phone. For someone who was a master at all things, cosmetics, fashion, entrepreneurship, business and jewellery, she felt like a complete dumbass in this magnificent room filled with different colourful vegetables.
Some easy vegetables like; carrots, cabbage, tomatoes, pepper, onion, broccoli and a few others were familiar to her because she loved eating them a lot.
But what the hell is capsicum, Zucchini, basil, parsley and celery? Were they the names of people or was Blaze trying to be super annoying?

At first, Amelia tried googling each name, not wanting to appear so lost. But the sweet young sales attendant beside her offered to help her.
Shockingly, Amelia discovered that the veggie names on her phone were those of real vegetables and not people. She also discovered that there was a lot she didn’t know about food that she enjoyed eating.
“I need a half a kilo of cap-si-cum.” Amelia called the name of the fruit with an accent confusing the sales attendant.
“Do you mean, Capsicum as in bell pepper?” The sales attendant asked.
“Wait a minute, capsicum is bell pepper?” Amelia’s eyes widened in excitement upon recognising this particular veggie.
“Yes, ma’am.” The sales attendant chuckled softly at the beautiful and posh lady beside her.
“Wow! I know bell pepper.”
“Awesome! What colour do you prefer? We have, yellow, green, and red.”
“I’ll take all three colours.”
“Half a kilo of each?”
“Yes. As a matter of fact, make them one kilo each.”
Amelia decided that she would buy twice what was on the list in case Blaze wanted to set her up with cooking. At least if she burnt the first set, she could use the second set to learn from her mistake.
“What’s the next item on the list ma’am.”
“Parsley.”
As the sales attendant helped Amelia pick out the vegetables she listed from her phone, Amelia took a mental picture of each vegetable, determined to know and recognize all of them by heart.
Unable to hold back her amusement any longer, Pearl decided to reveal herself.
“How the mighty have fallen. From the perfect wife of a multi-billionaire to a house help picking up groceries.” Pearl chuckled scornfully, taking off her sunglasses. She tilted her head slowly to look at Amelia who was six feet away from her.
