Chapter 133: The Annual Beauty Conference
The initial JM referred to his real name, Jerry Morgan and only someone from Salvine City, who had his current address would send him this.
So far, only Tyson amongst all his friends knew his location. But what if Tyson had been compromised by someone dangerous looking for him?
“Here you go, sir.” The lady picked up the brown package and handed it over to him.
“Thanks.” Jerry faked another smile and left for his hotel room.
Inside the safety of the hotel room, Jerry dropped the package on the round centre table and quickly armed himself with a gun. He did a frantic sweep around the room, ready to blow out anyone’s brain who was hiding inside the room.
When he found nothing out of place, he hurriedly picked up his travel backpack and stuffed it with a few of his clothes, toiletries, all his cash and credit cards, and travel documents. He changed to a black hoodie and jean trousers, paired with running shoes.
He was about to leave the room when his eyes fell on the package again. His instinct told him that it was something dangerous and he believed it.
“Somethings are better left untouched.” He left the package untouched and cautiously opened the door. He surveyed his surroundings to ensure no one was waiting for him outside, before sneaking out, taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
Jerry successfully made it out of the hotel and hailed a cab. He got in and closed the door, releasing a sigh of relief.
“Take me to the airport.”
“That will cost you five dollars, sir.” The chubby-looking cab driver turned to face him.
“Sure. Just move.”
“Aren’t you forgetting something, sir?” The cab driver asked gesturing out the window.
“What?” Jerry followed his eyes only to see a familiar face walking out of the hotel premises, holding the same package he left in his hotel room.
“What the hell!” Jerry’s widened eyes turned to look at the driver as he tried to pull out his gun. But something sharp hit him on the side of his neck and the last thing he saw before his vision blacked out was a man entering the front passenger seat of the cab while the lady holding the package joined him in the back seat.

By sunrise the next day Amelia was back to a busy work schedule. But today’s job description was kind of different. She was attending her first ever, Beauty South Chardin conference held in the heart of Salvine city.
This conference was an annual conference poised to provide beauty businesses all around the south region with valuable insights into introducing and strengthening their various brands.
Over three hundred beauty brands within the south region would be in attendance and Amelia was eager to meet with some of the renowned icons in the beauty industries and share ideas with them. It would also serve as a platform to create more awareness for her new cosmetic line which was to be launched the following day.
Amelia arrived at the Ivory South Gates event centre around 9:00 AM, with her team of marketers and resource personnel.
Adorned in a classic beige pantsuit and white inner shirt, with matching stiletto heels and handbag, Amelia made her way to the conference banner backdrop posing briefly for the paparazzi with her employees and some other brand owner she was familiar with. She gave a brief interview about her brand and allowed her head marker to handle the rest.
Afterwards, she allowed her team to set up inside the magnificent conference showroom while she made her way into the conference meeting room.
Amelia wasn’t expecting to run into Joanna as she elegantly made her way to take a seat in the front row. But there she was, looking all glamorous in her sky blue fitted pant suits and white inner shirt discussing with another brand owner.
“Is this a joke?” A crease appeared on Amelia’s forehead. She recalled that Joanna was one of the top perfumers in the country. And perfumes were also featured alongside beauty products.
On a normal day, she would happily sit beside Joanna and have a blast. But with Joanna’s current stand against her marriage, she didn’t feel like being close to her.
Amelia scanned the room for other empty seats. But she didn’t like their location. She observed that the first four rows were already occupied except for the only empty seat in front and beside someone she once called her best friend.
She thought about going to the back to look for another empty seat to avoid any form of unnecessary confrontation but then she wasn’t known to back out from a fight especially when she was not in the wrong.
Stifling her anxiety, Amelia casually strolled to the empty seat and sat down.

“Excuse me, this seat is already t… Amelia…” Joanna’s forehead furrowed, as though someone had just spilled drink on her exquisite suit. She didn’t bother to hide her displeasure at the sight of Amelia, making the lady beside her curious.
“It’s nice to meet you too, Joanna,” Amelia said softly, her aura shifting between polite pleasantry and impassivity. She gave Joanna a fleeting smile and focused her attention on the speakers who were being introduced to take their seats on the elevated stage.
“I was going to say this seat is already taken,” Joanna said in a caustic tone, disgusted by Amelia’s presence. “So if you don’t mind me saying, kindly find somewhere else to sit.”
“I think I’m comfortable here,” Amelia replied without sparing Joanna a glance. “Moreover, it’s, first come, first serve.”
“I was hoping you would say that.” Joanna’s gaze narrowed at Amelia, a look of disdain framing her face. “But I’m not surprised. Taking what doesn’t belong to you obviously runs in the blood.”
Armelia could feel anger coursing through her veins, the urge to reply to Joanna overwhelming her sense of reasoning. But she took a deep breath and pushed out all the negative energy, maintaining her indifferent disposition.
“Can you imagine the rudeness,” Joanna complained bitterly to her new friend seated beside her.
“It’s okay, Joanna. She can sit here. Edith is already running late and the program is about to commence. I’m sure Edith will find somewhere else to sit.”
“Fine!” Joanna replied between clenched jaws. “Please can we swap seat?”
From the corner of her eyes, Amelia watched as Joanna changed her sitting position with her friend while cursing under her breath. She completely ignored her and her new friend who was trying to poke nose, focusing her attention on the event moderator.
“And for our special guest speaker with a vast knowledge in the business world…” The female event host announced cheerfully, “… Let’s make welcome, one of the youngest and biggest key players in the gold and mining industry, who happens to be one of our biggest sponsors, he is the chairman and CEO of Andex Group international…”
Amelia’s jaw dropped.
“…Mr Blaze Anderson.”
