Chapter 139: Hello, Jerry
Blaze could feel his heart aching as he watched Amelia slowly bring down her hand, her grip on her phone tightening. He observed the way her body shook as she wept silently, keeping her back to him.
He was tempted to go down to the senator’s office and have the old slimy geezer thoroughly dealt with for making his wife cry. But wouldn’t that complicate things for him seeing how much she cared about her infuriating father?
Blaze hated the fact that Amelia cared so much for a weak father who couldn’t man up to his responsibility and fix his home. A father who couldn’t tell an evil child from a good child. A father who couldn’t tell his harlot of a wife was banging his younger brother. A father who couldn’t protect her from his many enemies. A father whose fate was already sealed based on his past injustice to Presley Anderson.
Nevertheless, amid this hatred, lay a budding excitement. An excitement that was slowly consuming his pounding heart.
Amelia had just confessed to her uncle that she may be in love with him.
Blaze didn’t know if this was true or if she was simply trying to defend her actions of marrying him. But whatever the case, it felt great hearing it from her own lips. At least, he wasn’t alone in this.
The car slowly came to a halt by the roadside opposite, KVibes.
“Sir, we are here,” Fred announced, staring at the boss through the rearview mirror. His eyes widened a little at the sight of the lipstick marks on his boss’s face.
“Thanks… Leave the engine running and wait outside the car.”
“Yes sir.” Fred politely turned around and said. “Sir, your face.” He gestured with a slightly trembling finger.
“I know,” Blaze said dismissively. He waited for Fred to leave the car before cleaning off the lipstick marks on his face.
Taking a deep breath, Blaze moved closer to Amelia and placed his hand on her shoulder, stroking it tenderly.
“Amy…please don’t let this get to. Don’t let it ruin your happiness.”
Amelia, nodded her head, as she wiped her flowing tears with the back of her hand.
“If you want to get it off your chest, I’m here for you,” Blaze said softly, still stroking her shoulder.
Amelia shook her head, her back still on him.
“Can you at least look at me? I want to see those beautiful eyes of yours.”
Amelia hesitated a little before slowly turning to face him her head lowered.
Blaze tenderly lifted her chin up with two of his fingers, staring into her moist eyes.
“You are a born fighter and a very courageous, might I add extremely beautiful young lady.”
Amelia smiled amid more tears.
But Blaze wouldn’t let her shed anymore as he gently wiped them off with his thumb, tenderly stroking her cheeks.
“Don’t let them see your weakness in your tears. Show the world how great and unbeatable you are. You’ll always have me as a friend to support you and as a husband to stand by you. I can’t tell you to forget about your family since they form an integral part of your life. But you must not let any of them get to you, especially now when the battle is about to begin. I can promise you this, once the battle is over, all those who have offended you will regret their actions. They will come begging at your feet, asking for your forgiveness? You’ll be the one to have the last laugh. So no more tears, okay.”
Amelia nodded her head, “okay.” She blinked back her tears as Blaze softly brushed his lips against hers before releasing her chin. He brought out his handkerchief and dried her reddened eyes.
“Thank you, Blaze, for everything. You are a good man.” Amelia said genuinely.
Blaze stared into her eyes silently before replying.
“I’m not good man but you’re welcome.”
“Let me be the judge.”
Amelia smiled as she opened her handbag and brought out her makeup kit to retouch her face. She took one look at her reddened eyes and sighed.

“If you don’t mind, I can send someone to help you pick up your dress and bring it home. I wouldn’t want Kayla to see you looking sad and start asking questions. What do you say?”
Amelia knew Blaze was right. Kayla was very observant and would bombard her with questions.
“I think that’s a good idea. I’ll quickly send a message.”
“Also I was hoping we could stop at my mom’s and enjoy a peaceful lunch there. How does that sound?”
“Awesome!” Amelia’s smile widened. “I missed her so much.”
“I know,” Blaze called Fred’s attention back to the car and within seconds, they were in motion again.
“By the way, I have a surprise for you after lunch. “We’ll be traveling out of town to see someone who is patiently waiting for you.”
“Who?” Amelia quirked her eyebrows up.
“You find out soon enough.”

Jerry had no clue how long he had been out or where the hell he was.
On two different occasions, he had opened his eyes only to feel his body floating as if he were in the sea or on air. But before he could make sense of what was happening, he was systematically knocked out with some kind of painful tranquillizer.
At the moment, everything felt dark around him. He couldn’t tell if it was day or night. But he knew he was awake. He was seated on some kind of chair and bound to it. He could neither move his leg nor his hand but he could turn his neck left and right.
His eyes were open but it was as good as shut because he couldn’t see a thing. His throat felt parched and his heart was slamming widely against his chest like a rabbit caught in a snare. His whole body ached as though he had been sat upon by an elephant. But this was nothing compared to what awaited him, especially after recognizing the same lady from the elevator back in the city.
One thing was certain. The people who adopted him were working for Blaze Anderson and they were bad news. The last time he was electrocuted. Who knows what will happen to him this time?
With him on the run, no one was going to come to his rescue. Not even his family who had no clue where he was staying.
Just then, Jerry picked up the voices of people approaching. He closed his eyes and held his breath as the heavy sound of boots stomping on the ground drew closer. He thought he heard the sharp clinking of heels on the floor until a soft textured voice pierced through the denseness of his thoughts.
“This looks weirdly familiar. Except the last time, I was the one tied to a chair in a skimpy dress, sold out by this douchebag I almost married.”
“Hello Jerry.”
