Chapter 147: The Threat
Amelia instantly froze like a deer caught in headlights as Sarah’s sharp cry kept echoing in her head like a warning siren.
All the colour drained from her face, turning it pale. She stared at Blaze with widened eyes and open mouth, her heart slamming widely against her chest as though it was about to leap out.
She recognized the voice of the man on the other end. It was the same creepy voice that had been tormenting her for the past weeks, both in her dream and in the physical. It was the voice of a creepy stalker, a mysterious predator and a ruthless hunter who was out to get her as promised. And now this person had her cousin in his trap.
“Aunt Amelia, that was my sister’s voice. That was Sarah’s voice I heard on your phone.” Michael cupped his mouth, tears of horror gathering in his eyes.
But before he could say anything, Blaze motioned for him to keep quiet. He quickly led Amelia away from prying eyes into an empty room, courtesy of Pascal’s quick thinking, while the phone conversation continued.
“Yes, Michael. It is indeed your sister’s voice. Would you like to hear her sing some more?” The creepy voice from the other end started laughing, his resonating voice making Amelia’s hands tremble vigorously.
“He knows Michael’s name too?” Amelia echoed in her head, her body trembling even more vigorously.
Blaze quickly collected the phone from Amelia seeing that she was about to drop it. He carefully wrapped his arms around her to keep her from collapsing as he could see her knees wobbling under her weight. He gestured for her to continue speaking to engage the caller so that they could pinpoint his location.
“W…who are you and w-what do you want with my cousin?” Amelia heard herself speak, her mind in disarray, as memories of the night she was kidnapped and almost assaulted flooded her thoughts.
“I’m sure you know the answer to that first question sweetheart. I know you have been dreaming about me all this while, wondering when we will be together.”
Amelia shook her head, tears streaming down her eyes as she kept her gaze locked on Blaze who was trying his best to soothe her while keeping his awoken monster at bay.
“Guess what, I’ve been dreaming about you too. As for your second question, I have no interest in your cousin whatsoever. She is just a pawn that I intend to use to lure out my queen from her fortress. Do you like chess, Amy?”
Amelia shook her head, her lips quivering.
Blaze nodded giving Amelia a hint of a reply.
“Yes,” Amelia whispered.
“It looks like we have a lot of things in common then and I can’t wait for the two of us to be together.”
“What about my cousin? Please don’t hurt her.” Amelia begged, sniffling and wiping her tears with the back of her hand.
“I promise you, my love, as long as you remain a good girl, I will ensure that no harm comes to your cousin except for the little cut on her right arm. Once I have you in my arms, your cousin will be sent back to her mother in one piece.”
“No…” Amelia cried out cupping her mouth.
“Did you just say no to me?”
Blaze shook his head, giving her a sign to quickly apologize.
“No… I’m sorry.” Amelia said.
“Now that is a good girl. Go home and dream about me this night. Tomorrow morning by 6:00 AM, you will get a wake-up call from me and a list of instructions. Do as I say and your cousin will get to live another day. But if you do anything contrary to test my patience, I will mail a part of her every single day to you until there is nothing left but bones.”
Michael who was also listening to the conversation immediately slumped on the floor after hearing the last statement.
Amelia on the other hand was almost going into a shock, as the caller concluded his threat with a face-lapping message.
“By the way, tell your dick head of a husband that this call is untraceable and there is nothing he can do to stop me from making a martyr of you. Sweet dreams, my love.”
As the call disconnected Amelia passed out.

Desmond stepped out of the hospital for a smoke and to get rid of his trauma. His hands trembled as he brought out a pack of cigarettes and a fancy lighter from his pant pocket.

“This is sick,” He said to himself, his voice quivering and beads of sweat dripping from his forehead. He wiped the sweat with his sleeve and took out a stick of the cigarette. He was still in the process of lighting the cigarette when he observed a black Rolls-Royce phantom escorted by two sleek SUVs drive into the hospital premises.
The senator emblem in front of the Rolls-Royce told Desmond that his elder brother had just arrived.
“Shit!”
Knowing how much his elder brother despised smoking, Desmond quickly threw the already-lit cigar on the floor and crushed it under his boot. He hid the pack of cigarettes and lighter in the flower pot by the entrance and quickly sprayed his mouth with a minty mouth spray.
Taking a deep breath, he left to welcome his brother, who had already stepped out of the car, looking like a presidential candidate who had come to visit the hospital against his wish.
“Good evening, big brother.”
The senator barely acknowledged his younger brother as he walked past him, scrunching his already crumbling face at the smell of cigarette fumes. He was boiling in rage and disgusted to see his brother falling back to his old addiction of smoking.
The senator was escorted by his most trusted head of security Lin Fox, cladded in combat attire and armed to the teeth. She was closely followed by a handful of very intimidating and athletically built bodyguards. She acknowledged Desmond’s presence with a slight tip of the head, before focusing all her attention on her primary task of guarding the senator.
