Chapter 151: The Scary Journey
It was a race against time as Amelia hurried down the cobblestone path of the museum driveway to the main street, holding nothing but the small cell phone she found in the parcel and a bus ticket.
The sun was still rising and as such there were very few people jogging along the path, minding their own business.
When Amelia got to the main road, she paused, breathing heavily, her head snapping to her left and then to the right, unsure of where to go. For a girl who had never commuted on a bus in her entire life, she felt completely lost.
“Turn right.”
Amelia heard Blaze’s voice in her head. It was as soft and calm as the gentle whisper of nature. Her breathing quickened as she looked around for any sign of him. But aside from the early risers and commuters, there was no sign of him. She slowly lifted her right hand up as if to scratch her ear while looking for any sign of a wireless ear plug.
“Amy, it’s me. I can see you from where I am, but you can’t see me. I need you to focus baby. You are doing great so far.”
Blaze’s clear voice echoed in her ear again, confirming the possibility of a wireless device somewhere in her ear or maybe her head.
‘How and when did he fit this device into her? Was it before she left the villa or while she was asleep?’ Amelia pondered, her lips curving in a faint smile as she stared ahead, beyond the busy road, as if she could see him.
“I will be guiding you every step of the way. Don’t say anything or try to communicate with me. Just follow my voice and stay calm if I go radio silent. Now, turn right and hurry to the next intersection. Take another right turn and you will see the bus up ahead. Go now. I’m delaying the bus for you.”
Amelia nodded, expelling every negative thought. She turned to her right and sprinted off following Blaze’s direction.
Up ahead she could see the bus stop. It seemed the bus was having a little malfunction as it came jerking every now and then when the driver tried to move.
“Wait!” Amelia sprinted forward, waving her hand to the bus.
The crease on the bus driver’s face deepened as he saw another passenger flanking him down. He was already running late and his bus was having a possible electrical malfunction. He stopped and waited for Amelia to get in.
“Thank you, Sir.” Amelia plastered a sweet smile on her face as she gave the bus driver her ticket and left to take her seat in the back row, away from all the bus passengers gawking at her as if she were an alien.
The driver started the bus again, anticipating another jerking movement. But to his dismay and excitement, the bus started moving without a hitch.
Amelia kept her head lowered, staring at the phone screen, her fingers white and shaky as she waited patiently for the call that never came. Her mind drifted for a while as she thought about her life, her family, all her achievements and how everything could come to an end at just the snap of a finger.
Pushing all her negative thoughts aside she lifted her face and stared blankly at the side of the glass window. But instead of the busy street of the city, she was surprised to see trees and rolling mountains passing by in a blur.
Just then, the phone she was holding rang, causing her to jerk in shock. She took in a deep breath and received the call.
“Hello.”
“Take off every accessory on you, including wristwatch, wedding ring, earrings, nose ring, hairpins and drop them on the bus seat.” The cold and somewhat harsh voice of the stalker echoed in her ears.
“Okay.” Amelia did as instructed while the caller stayed online. She felt like crying as she removed the hand bracelet Blaze gifted her and dropped it on the seat. She didn’t feel like parting away with it, at least not yet. She also removed her wristwatch and dropped it on the seat. Thankfully, she wasn’t wearing her wedding ring.
“Done ”
“Good. Your bus will be arriving at Oatal County in the next hour or more. When it stops, exit the bus and make your way across the street. A black sedan will be waiting for you directly opposite a drugstore. Get inside the rear seat of the sedan, change to your new clothing and drink the juice the driver would offer to you.”
“What juice?” Amelia’s eyes widened in alarm.
“Don’t worry, I’m not planning to kill you just yet. The juice contains a little something that will help you relax throughout the rest of the journey. By the time you wake up, we will finally be together.” The call ended again, leaving Amelia more miserable than before.
An hour and twenty minutes later, the bus arrived in the heart of Oatal County. All the passengers filed out one after the other with Amelia at the back of the queue staring right ahead her heart threatening to leap out of her chest as she sighted the black sedan across the road.
The busy Oatal main street was a hive of activity, with people of all ages hurrying to and fro, each with their own destination in mind. The air was filled with the sounds of traffic and conversations as Amelia hurried across the road. She cautiously approached the black Sedan opposite the drugstore praying earnestly in her mind that this wouldn’t be the end.
Taking a deep breath, she opened the backseat of the car and slowly got inside, her hand still holding the door open, as she checked out the afro hair driver wearing a dark shade.
“Shut the door.” The driver of the car said in a deadpan voice, without looking backwards.

Amelia observed the feminine texture of the driver’s voice who was pretending to sound like a man. She closed the door and listened to the clicking sound of the driver activating the central lock. She spared one quick glance at the medium juice box on the seat before returning her attention to the driver.
“You have a few minutes to take off your entire clothing, and change to the black one-piece suit beside you.”
