Chapter 181: Rivals
After her last encounter with Amelia at the food Mart, which left has shattered for days, Tina swore to make Amelia pay for all her heartache. She secretly reached out to Amelia’s aunt, Pearl, using the affection of a con artist.
Through this con artist dating Pearl, Tina was able to dig into Amelia’s past life and a little bit of her present life. She discovered that Blaze was never a part of Amelia’s life until after the unsuccessful assassination attempt.
This discovery supported her theory that Blaze and Amelia were never lovers when they became man and wife. It explained the reason behind their secret marriage. It simply meant their marriage could be based on a contract since the two were never friends in the first place. And knowing Blaze very well, Tina knew there would be stringent conditions to the contract.
All she had to do was find out what these conditions were and make sure Amelia broke them. When that happens, she would take her man back.
When Joanna had first suggested a girl’s night outing at the Diamond Star bar to celebrate Tina’s recent achievement, the latter didn’t think much about it.
However, when Joanna reminded her that it was the same place her formal girls’ group usually hung out every Friday evening, she agreed to the outing.
It had been a while since she had seen Amelia face-to-face and the thought of meeting her rival filled her with so much anticipation.
As planned, Joanna and her girls’ squad were the first to arrive at the bar, all dressed in sexy outfits that screamed elegance and luxury. They settled for a VIP booth, three tables away from the spot where Amelia and her girls usually sat.
It didn’t take long for Joanna’s table to become the centre of attraction due to the presence of the highly celebrated iconic movie star, Tina Stevens and her pretty ladies. They had almost all the men in the VIP section fawning over them, gifting them expensive bottles of wine.
But Tina didn’t entertain any of the distractions. She remained focused, patiently waiting for Amelia to show up.
An hour later, Adriana and her friends arrived at the bar. They didn’t notice Joanna and her girlfriend at first. But after a few loud and attention-seeking gestures, they noticed them.
Worried about a possible confrontation, Kayla opted for the girls to go somewhere else. But others kicked against the idea, stressing that it would make them appear inferior to Joanna and her new girlfriends.
Over the next thirty minutes, neither of the proud girls group interfered with each other business, until Tina left her table, pretending to receive a call.
Tina approached Kayla’s table with an air of confidence and slight arrogance. She said, ‘Hi,’ and even offered to buy them a bottle of wine when she observed that they hadn’t made their order.
Her mockery gesture was rejected on the spot and she was politely asked to go to hell.
Tina left them, laughing her heart out after indirectly telling them that they looked like bored old housewives.
The satisfaction derived from the look of disgust on their faces felt rewarding. But they weren’t the ones she was interested in. Amelia was the main target.
Taking a stroll out of the bar, Tina placed a call across to her date, who was also on his way to the club. She was in the middle of a hilarious conversation with him when she spotted a familiar face coming her way.
Still dressed in her work clothes, Amelia was looking fatigued and dull. She was nothing compared to Tina’s vibrant look.
Amelia was closely followed by her two hostile-looking bodyguards, making Tina reconsider approaching her. She waited to see if Amelia would spot her.
To Tina’s delight, Amelia’s eyes flickered in her direction. But then she looked away as if she didn’t recognize her.
This behaviour emboldened Tina to approach Amelia. She called out in a sharp voice that was loud enough to attract the attention of some people hanging outside the bar.
“Amelia Anderson, is that you?”
Tina waited patiently to see if Amelia would ignore her as before, with people watching.
However, to Tina’s excitement, Amelia stopped and slowly spun around, a polite smile stretching across her lips.
Even her bodyguard didn’t try to interfere like before. They seemed rather tamed albeit their expression said otherwise.
“Hello, Tina.”
“I knew it was you even though I had my doubts,” Tina said triumphantly as if she had just won a jackpot. “You look different but in a good way. So, how are you?.”
Amelia scoffed inwardly as she observed the way Tina was scanning her like an X-ray machine, a look of jealousy, hinting at her tone. She adjusted the bag she was holding to her other arm and said softly.
“As you can see, I’m doing great.”

“What about your …”
Before Tina could ask about Blaze, Amelia cut her off.
“It was nice running into you. Do have a good evening.” Amelia turned around and entered the bar.
“So rude. We will see where this takes you.” Tina hissed, her narrowed gaze trialling Amelia until she completely vanished out of sight. She made a few more calls and waited patiently for her date to arrive before they both into the bar together.
“Look who finally decided to show up after almost an hour late,” Kayla announced dramatically, standing up, a glass of an orange cocktail in her left hand.
“Amy!” Nicole and the others chanted excitedly, also rising to their feet, their thrilled voice drowning the cool background music and boisterous chats from other booths.
Joanna craned her neck to look but regretted it instantly as Amelia caught her in the act.
Looking away, Joanna whispered something to her girls and they all tilted their heads backward to look at Amelia, a hint of mockery lacing their gaze.
“You look good, Amy.” Adriana’s sweet voice forced Amelia’s case away from the other booth.
“Thank you.”
“Mr Anderson has been doing quite a number on you, girl. You look so sweet.” Nicole pecked Amelia on either side of her cheeks.
The girls all took turns embracing Amelia, each one of them cracking her ribs up with their witty remarks.
When it got to Kayla’s turn, she happily flaunted the big diamond rock on her finger in Amelia’s face, while swaying her hip from side to side rhythmically.
“I finally got a ring on my finger.”
“OMG!!!” Amelia exclaimed, taking Kayla’s left hand to examine the ring properly. “This is huge and beautiful, Kay.”
“I know, right?” Kayla’s smile widened, her cheeks giving off a pinkish-red glow as if her fiance was about to propose again. “It still feels like I’m dreaming. I’m so happy.”
“You deserve it my dear and I’m so happy for you.” Amelia pulled Kayla to herself for a warm embrace. “Congratulations, sweetheart.”
“Thanks, dear.”
Just then, Tina slowly sashayed past the excited girls, arms interlocked with those of a tall and handsome gentleman, with a hypnotic smile.
The man stopped in front of Amelia, a look of recognition framing his face.
“This face… Do I know you, young lady?” The you man asked.
