Chapter 193: Let The Games Begin
Seated opposite the vanity mirror in her bedroom and listening to an audio recording. Tina’s eyes widened in shock at the dialogue between Amelia and the doctor.

“Pregnant!” Her eyes blazed with an unquenchable inferno as she glared at her reflection, gritting her teeth.

“How can she be pregnant?” Tina abruptly paused the video, hyperventilating. She clasped her head with both hands, different agonizing thoughts jabbing at her already battered heart. Her eyes glistened with threatening tears as she thought of how thrilled Maria would be if she found out that Amelia was pregnant.

“No, I can’t let this happen. I can’t let her have his baby. He’s mine and I have to do something about it.” Tina said with determination, angrily wiping the tears that dared to escape her eyes.

She stared at her piqued reflection for a while, so many evil thoughts hatching in her mind. Her eye fell on the paused audio recording.

‘What if there is more?’ She pondered and pressed play.

Just like she thought, there was more and this time around the anger in her eyes was slowly replaced with a sinister thrill.

“Finally!”

Tina screamed, raising both hands up as if thanking an unseen being for speedily answering her prayer. Her eyes sparkled with the thrill of a hungry cat that had finally spotted a rewarding prey after days of searching.

“Whoever said patient wasn’t rewarding?” She exhaled, all her worries melting like wax, as the audio recording slowly came to an end.

“The game is about to begin and you have just been served, Amelia. This time around, I’m not going to let you win. If I can have Blaze, you definitely won’t either.”

Tina let out a malicious laughter that echoed within her room. She smiled at her beautiful reflection, tucking her hair behind her ear as picked up her phone and dialed Remy’s number.

A click on the other end, followed by Remy’s girlish worried voice, broadened Tina’s smile.

“Thank goodness you finally called. I have been worried sick since we spoke the previous night. I’ve been trying to call you all morning but your phone was switched off. What happened?” Remy demanded

“You worry too much sweetheart.”

“Sweetheart! Wow! Someone seems to be in a good mood. Do I have some juicy gist for me?”

“Trust me, Remy, this is more than juicy.” Tina chirped excitedly while admiring her pretty coloured nails.

The thought of digging these pretty babies in that stinking vomit from yesterday made her stomach churn. Thankfully, her sacrifice didn’t go to waste.

“Tell me everything and do not leave out a single detail,” Remy said euphorically from the other end.

“I’ll fill you in when I stop by the studio, later this afternoon.”

“Afternoon?”

“Yes, I haven’t slept all through the night watching over that tramp. I need my beauty rest for the next five to six hours.”

“What about today’s photo shoot? Dexter will be mad.”

“Dexter will survive without me for a day and the photo shoot can be done tomorrow. Take an excuse for me. Tell the produce err I caught a flu or something.”

“Fine. You know you owe me one.”

“How come I’m the one always owing you? Aren’t you ashamed? You are supposed to show some level of responsibility.”

“But you are my boss.”

“Yeah right. Now you want to play the boss card. So predictable.”

“That’s why you love me so much,” Remy replied smugly.

“Keep dreaming.” Tina scoffed. “By the way, I need you to go to the fruit market and pick up the most irresistible set of fresh fruits. Preferably apples, bananas, grapes and oranges. Have them beautifully packaged in a fancy fruit gift basket and keep them handy. I’ll pick it up at the car park by 3:00 PM. Don’t keep me waiting.”

“Is that all, Her Excellency?”

“While you are at it, pick up some pack of chocolates, muffins, cookies and any other irresistible snacks you know couples love,” Tina said picturing Blaze’s expression when she handed him the gift. “I need to make a good impression.”

“Do you also want me to pick up some men’s underwear and lady’s lingerie?” Remy asked in an exasperated tone.

“Don’t get cocky with me young man or it’s your ass on the line. Meet me with those items at the parking lots by three. Don’t keep me waiting.” She hissed and hung up, putting her phone on flight mode.

At quarter past two, Tina quickly got ready for her hospital visit. She chose an elegant blue halter neck flare jumpsuit for the perfect killer attire and paired it with matching stiletto heels.

Styling her hair in a low chignon, with playful curls dangling at the side of her face, she completed her captivating look with a pair of shimmering diamond earrings.

As Tina scanned through her perfume collection, a wicked idea came to her head. She picked up one of her strong perfumes and sprayed just the right amount.

Taking one last look at her vibrant and enchanting self, Tina blew a kiss to her reflection before exiting her bedroom.

With the help of her mother-in-law and her best friend Stacy, Amelia was able to freshen up before, visiting friends started arriving.

“Son, why don’t you go home, shower and probably rest? You look really exhausted.” Maria suggested, observing the dark circles on his eyes

“There won’t be any need for that mom. I can manage.” Blaze replied while watching Amelia chat with Stacy.

“I’m not asking you to go home, son. I’m telling you. Amelia will be safe under my care while you’re gone or don’t you trust your mother.”

“Of course, I trust you, Mom. But…”

“No buts.” Maria insisted. She took a quick glance at her wristwatch and said. “It’s already 3: 15 PM. If you leave now, you can return in the next Six to seven hours looking well-rested and fully recharged to spend the entire night watching over your wife. Moreover, your wife’s father and Aunt are on the way, including more of her friends. She has a lot of people to care for her. You need not worry.”

Blaze sighed feeling a bit hesitant. He thought briefly about what his mom said earlier concerning Tina and asked.

“What if Tina shows up again? I don’t trust her around Amelia.”

“Leave her to me. I can manage on my own. Now go say goodbye to your wife and leave.”

“Fine.”

Before Blaze left Amelia’s room he instructed Lance and another new guy he employed -who were both standing in for Clay and Pascal, – to be extra vigilant and never leave Amelia all by herself with any visitor. He also instructed them not to take in any form of gifts except the ones verified by him.
