Chapter 308: Taking The Bait
“What was his name again?” Gwen mumbled under her breath racking her memory. “Young…yes, Taylor young. That was the name her mother said.”
Although Gwen never saw him again after that incident, she was still impressed that someone so audacious could challenge Amelia’s monster of a husband.
Adjusting the top button of her blazer jacket to reveal more skin, Gwen’s broadened her smile as the man came closer to her.
“Mr Young,” Gwen called out as the man walked past her as though he didn’t notice her.
Tyler grinned devilishly, a wicked glint flashing across his shaded eyes as he halted, slowly turning his head around to assess the chubby woman in front of him.
His sophisticated and commanding aura made Gwen tremble a little as she added.
“Taylor Young, am I right?”
“And who is asking?” Tyler slowly took off his glasses, the chilliness in his sharp gaze dropping the already cold temperature around them.
“Miss Gwen Shawls.” She stretched her right hand towards him, her composure crumbling under his belittling gaze.
Tyler sized her up with his cold gaze pretending not to know her from Adams.
“Do I know you?”
“We haven’t met officially, but I recognize you from a fashion show I attended back in the day. You were with my step-sister on that fateful day. Does it ring a bell?”
Tyler let out an impatient sigh. “Can you be more specific?”
Gwen slowly brought down her hand, the mere thought of mentioning Amelia’s name irking her to the bone.
“Does the name, Amelia Shawls now Amelia Anderson ring a bell.”
“Wait a minute, are you trying to say you are related to my business partner, Amelia Anderson, the daughter of Senator Gregory Shawls?” Tyler pretended to be amazed, the initial coldness in its eyes morphing into bewilderment.
‘He is still a business partner with Amelia! This is good news. If I can penetrate him, I can use him against the b*tch.’ Gwen beamed inwardly. She hesitated to his earlier question, almost biting her tongue as she replied,
“Yes. Amelia Anderson is my elder sister, and Senator Gregory Shawls is my father.”
“Incredible. It’s my pleasure to meet you, Miss Gwen.” Tyler formerly extended his hand towards her, which she shook proudly, grinning from cheek to cheek.
“But the name is Tyler Young and not Taylor Young. Taylor is the name of my father.”
“Oops… my mistake.” Gwen chuckled sweetly, her cheeks glowing like an overripe tomato.
“No harm done. You aren’t the first person to mix our names up.”
Gwen and Tyler didn’t realize that they had become objects of fascination amongst the bored customers waiting patiently in line to be attended to as they interacted like two old friends.
“It was nice meeting you, Miss Shawls.” Tyler’s flattering, warm smile lured Gwen like a shimmering spider web, enticing her with those perfect white dentitions.
“Maybe we could see some other time.” Gwen offered, hoping he wouldn’t turn her down.
“It will be my pleasure.” Tyler brought out his business card and placed it in Gwen’s open hand, his warm smile and his innocent touch sending waves of shiver down Gwen’s spine. “Take care of you, Miss Gwen.”
“Bye.” Gwen stood there beaming like a child who had just received her Christmas gift early. She completely forgot her reason for coming to the bank as she watched Tyler leave through the exit door.

Amelia sat inside her husband’s study, her eyes slightly widened and her hands trembling as she listened to everything Marcus had to say. She stared at the picture of the same red-haired pregnant woman from yesterday, dressed in an orange prisoner’s uniform, socializing with Gwen along with other inmates.

“So, are you trying to say yesterday’s event was orchestrated for this woman to get close to Amelia?” Henry asked, his voice laced with unbelief and anger.
“Yes, sir.” Marcus nodded in reply. “We have tracked her to this location, where she was seen interacting with this man…” Marcus’s pointed to a hard copy picture of Rust. “…whom we suspect to be her partner and the same drunk driver responsible for the accident.”
“And Gwen was seen interacting with them today?” Amelia’s heart throbbed with immense rage and bitterness.
“Yes, ma’am.” Marcus brought out another hard copy picture of Gwen, hanging around the same neighbourhood with the same red-haired pregnant woman.”
Amelia exhaled, leaning her back on the swivel chair, her right hand stroking her baby bump and her cold gaze staring blankly at the ceiling.
“How far is Gwen and her cohorts willing to go just to get to me?” Amelia groaned, clenching her fist, her finger digging into her flesh. “What if that pregnant woman and her child had died?”
“Amy, don’t let that trouble you.” Henry pleaded, masking the rage in his voice. “We will deal with all of them one after the other.”
Amelia chuckled bitterly, biting down on her inner lips.
“So, this lady called Nora or Vede or whatever the hell her real name is went looking for me at the hospital today?”
“Yes, ma’am. That was the reason why we reached out to Dr Vanessa after she arrived at the hospital. We couldn’t afford her getting a preview of sensitive details about you through Dr Vanessa.”
“Good one.” Amelia exhaled, her head aching from all the information she just got.
Henry stood up, pacing up and down inside the room, rage coursing through his veins like an angry serpent.
“Someone needs to teach Gwen and her puppeteers a bitter lesson they would never forget.”
“If there’s one thing I know, it is that karma is extremely efficient when one is extremely patient.” Amelia noted recalling Blaze pleas for her to remain calm while he took care of things.
“True. But I’m still of the opinion that these people need to be taught a lesson they won’t forget in a hurry.” Henry suggested.
While Amelia, Henry and Marcus were still in their closed-door meeting session, a knock on the door interrupted them.
Since Henry was already standing, he took long strides to the door and opened it.
“Sir, I would like to inform the madam that her father has arrived.” Oliver, the mansion butler announced.
“Thanks, I inform her.”
