Chapter 43: Trapped Between The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea
“You must be f*cking crazy or high on some cheap weed to think that I, Amelia Shawls, will cook for you or gratify your sexual fantasies.” Amelia abruptly stood up, snarling at him. “What do you take me for, a servant or sex object?”
Instantly, the smirk vanished from Blaze’s face and was replaced with something far more dangerous and sinister.
“Sit,” Blaze said in a cold and threatening voice.
“You cannot tell me what to…”
“I said, sit down!” Blaze banged his fist fiercely on the table, the thundering sound coupled with his booming voice causing Amelia to flinch. His darkened grey orb narrowed dangerously at her, causing goosebumps to appear all over her body.
Some of the house servants who heard the boss’s terrifying voice, hurried away to safety afraid for the poor Miss.
Amelia could feel her heart pounding in her ears and her body trembling vigorously. This was the first time she had witnessed Blaze in this mood and it greatly scared the shit out of her. She slowly sat down, her breathing heavy and tears pulling at the corner of her eyes.
‘To think she was beginning to fall for this man greatly disgusted her. She regretted flirting with him, wishing there was a way she could take all that back.”
“If you remembered vividly…” Blaze’s cold voice cut into Amelia’s shattered thoughts. “…you were the one who asked me to be your husband and not the other way round. You were the one who dared me to take the challenge and agreed to abide by my terms and conditions. All this while, I’ve been doing everything to please you based on our agreement. Nevertheless, I’m a very generous man. Since you find my conditions extremely unrealistic and crazy, I will allow you to walk away from this deal right now. I can have Pascal take you back to your home or wherever you want to go. We do not have to see each other ever again.”
Amelia’s shoulder sagged as the horrid thought of going back to her penthouse apartment or her father’s mansion filled with lots of venomous snakes greatly terrified her. She knew she wouldn’t last for a day without Blaze protection.
Seeing her hesitation, a wicked glint flashed across Blaze’s darkened eyes.
“But if you still want to go ahead with this contract marriage, then these are my terms and conditions. You only have to pay me what you owe me at the end of the contract. You cannot walk away from it until a year is completed. Otherwise you will pay me the compensation of seventy percent of everything you own as stated. Take it or leave it.” Blaze stood up.
“You have five minutes to make up your mind and sign the contract. If the five minutes elapse and you’re not with me inside the car, you can consider this deal off.”
Blaze straightened his suit jacket and strode steely out of the dining room leaving Amelia in a complete mess and confusion.
Amelia bit down on her inner lips as tears slowly trickled down her face dropping on the document in front of her.
“What have I done?” Her lips began to tremble as the thought of getting hurt by Blaze crossed her mind. How did he turn into a devil in the blink of an eyes or was he always like this?
At the moment, Amelia felt like a girl trapped between the devil and the deep blue sea. Which would she choose? The devil or die a horrible death at the hands of her family?
Amelia wished there was a way she could walk out of this selfish deal and live a normal life without Blaze’s help. Sadly, she couldn’t. With her family planning to take her life and her company still struggling to win back all her investors, she knew she needed Blaze’s protection and support to succeed more than he needed her.
Biting down on her nails, Amelia weighed her pros and cons. Blaze didn’t look like the type of man who would force himself on a woman. She recalled the way he had hesitated back in the car when she tried to kiss him. However, that was before the contract. What if he changes?
“And why the hell does he want me to cook when he has a lot of maids?” Amelia pondered. “I don’t even know the first thing about cooking.”
A warning alarm bell rang in Amelia’s head as her eye fell on the fancy wall clock in the dining room. She had two minutes more to join Blaze in the car.
“Shit!”
Picking up the silver ball pen, she quickly scribbled down her signature on all the parts she needed to sign, before putting the document back in the red folder. She picked up a tissue and dabbed at her tears. Then she hurriedly dashed out of the villa almost tripping. She arrived just in time to see the car getting ready to leave.
Inside the car, Blaze’s lethal expression told Pascal that all was not well. He could tell the Miss had gotten on the boss’s nerves again.
Pascal saw the young Miss running towards the car and waving at them. He turned his head and was about to open his mouth when Blaze said coldly.
“Pascal informed the other to move.”
“Yes, sir.”
Blaze turned his attention to his chauffeur and said, “Fred, drive.”
“Yes sir.”

The driver slowly put the car on drive mode but moved slowly hoping the boss would change his mind soon.
Amelia, who was running to catch up with the car in her heels, stopped on her track, feeling abandoned and confused as she watched all three cars leave without her. She checked her time and saw that she was already two minutes late.
Acting on impulse, she quickly brought out her phone from her handbag and dialed Blaze’s number.
“What?” Blaze asked in a deep frightening tone.
“I’ve signed the contract. I’m ready to be your wife.” Amelia replied in a slightly quivering voice.
“You’re late,” Blaze said without any care or pity in his voice.
“That’s because I had a lot to sign and I was running on heels. Give me a break.” Amelia said in a broken voice.
“Stop the car.” Amelia heard Blaze give an order. She waited for him to say, ‘reverse the car,’ but was even more frustrated when he said, “Hurry up and don’t keep me waiting,” before ending the call on her.
“Jerk!” Amelia cursed under her breath, as she was made to run the rest of the distance to the gate where the car was waiting.
Pascal came down from the front passenger seat, an apologetic look in his eye as he opened the back door of the car.
Panting, Amelia carefully wiped her flowing tears with the back of her hand, ruining her makeup. She took in a deep breath before entering the car. She waited for the car to move before dropping the red folder on the seat between them.
“It’s all signed.” She said dryly. “But don’t expect me to be an obedient wife.” She hissed and turned her face to the window.
Blaze chuckled wickedly. “Don’t worry, I’m a patient man. I’ll teach you how to be obedient.” He picked up the red folder and went through all the documents. Satisfied with her signature, he put the folder in his briefcase.
Taking a deep breath to suppress his rage, he brought out his white handkerchief and moved closer to her.
Amelia’s body stiffened as he spoke in a deep commanding voice.
“Look at me.”
She ignored him until she felt his hand roughly grab her chin and force her to face him.
“Blaze…” Her moist eyes brought out more tears, her fist clenching by her side.
“When I give you an instruction, you obey. Otherwise, you will feel pain like you’ve never felt in your entire life. Do you understand?” He growled.
Amelia nodded her head, her body trembling like a cat caught in a cage. She believed every word he said and right now, she didn’t have the strength to fight back.
“Stay still while I clean your face. I can’t have my wife crying when we’re about to get married.” Blaze said in a bit softer voice, releasing his hold on her chin. He meticulously wiped her tears and her messy mascara, while holding her killer gaze, his mood lightening up a bit.
Amelia gritted her teeth, as she fought an inner war, destroying every budding emotion for this devil who was currently treating her like a toy for his amusement. She made a vow in her heart that she would never fall for this man no matter what he did to entice her.
“Sir, we’re here,” Fred announced, pulling the car to a halt.
“Thank you, Fred,” Blaze replied, still looking into his wife’s slightly reddened and hateful eyes. “Take some time to pull yourself together and retouch your make-up. When you are done, meet me inside Mr Robert Venze’s office.” He planted a kiss on her tightened lips before alighting the car.
“Asshole!” Amelia echoed in her heart, as she wiped her lips with the back of her hand.
Ten minutes later, Amelia stepped out of the car looking all fabulous and composed, every trace of her initial pain and sorrow gone like it was never there.
With a sweet smile framing her face, she strode purposefully towards the building but suddenly stopped on her track when her sparkling eyes caught sight of two familiar figures strolling out of the building with arms linked to one another.
