Chapter 61: The Perfect Act

Prior to the restroom incident, Tina thought she could befriend Amelia and confide in her about the identity of her ex and his mother. She wasn’t comfortable with Amelia and Maria’s relationship and she wanted to draw the line before things got complicated.

However, after Amelia turned down her lunch invitation on two different occasions, Tina concluded that Amelia knew something and was intentionally avoiding her. So she paid spies to monitor all of Amelia’s activities from afar and keep her steadily updated.

Consequently, when Maria showed up in front of Amelia’s office, Tina was quickly alerted.

Later on, her spies trailed Maria and Amelia down to the Royal five-star restaurant. They took note of the waiter assigned to VIP room three, which had been specifically reserved for the two friends.

This waiter was heavily tipped and given only one simple assignment. He was to bug the room with an advanced audio listening device, an activity which was carried out successfully without anyone suspecting a thing or so they thought.

Tina arrived at the restaurant a few moments after Amelia and Maria got there. She was accompanied by Remy, whose elegant but subtle Western attire gave him the look of a modest billionaire.

Remy acted his part exceptionally, posing as Tina’s wealthy friend. While he made arrangements for one of the VIP dining rooms selected by Tina, the latter made contact with one of her spies on duty.

After securing a secluded table downstairs with the spy, Tina listened to the live conversation, between Maria and Amelia, using an earpiece. Her initial curiosity to know more about Amelia and Maria’s relationship turned into envy and hatred as she listened to their flow of conversation.

Tina didn’t prepare herself for the next series of interactions until she heard Blaze’s unique and sexy voice saying hello to his mother, followed by the undeniable voice of his famous and handsome friend, Henry.

Tina thought that she may have just won a jackpot until she listened to the awkward discussion that followed suit. Her face suddenly turned pale and her breathing heavy as she heard Amelia reveal to Maria that Blaze rescued her from a fatal accident.

Nevertheless, she quickly recovered her composure and decided to confront Amelia indirectly after listening to her say something about using the restroom.

Back to the present…

Tina boldly made her way to the private VIP dining room three, strutting like a peacock, with shoulder raised high and a bewitching smile on her face. The brilliant lighting in the hallway reflected the soft glow of her fair skin which was in perfect blend with her bouncing wavy curls and her captivating red dress.

In her flawless beauty, it was difficult for anyone not to take a second look at her.

As she approached VIP room three, she was stopped by a grumpy-looking bodyguard whom she recognised as one of Amelia’s bodyguards from two days ago.

“Miss, this is a private dining room. I will advise you to move along.” Clay said in a polite but stern voice, scowling at her from behind his dark shades.

“Easy, big boy,” Tina said in a playful voice hoping to lighten Clay’s stiff look. “I’m here to see Mrs Maria Anderson. Can you please be a darling and inform her that her daughter is here?”

Clay, who had been alerted of Tina’s true identity and mission replied in a demeaning tone.

“I’m sorry, Miss. No one is permitted to enter this room except you are one of the guests or a waiter. Since you are neither of them, I will suggest you put a call across to this mother of yours. But in the meantime, you can wait for her downstairs.”

‘How rude?’ Tina thought. She forced a smile before adding. “I would have called her but you see, my phone battery is dead. Please just help this damsel in distress. All you have to do is inform her and nothing more. I promise I’ll reward you handsomely for your effort.”

“The answer still remains no,” Clay responded bluntly. “Now move along if you don’t want me to embarrass you.”

Tina pursed her lips, anger bubbling inside her veins. This grouchy man was the only barrier between her and her destiny. If only there was a way she could get him away from this door.

Just then she heard someone approaching and turned around to see Amelia and her second bodyguard walking towards her.

‘This b*tch again?’ Tina bit down on her inner lips to stifle the rage within her that was almost bubbling to the surface. ‘

Didn’t she get the message? Wasn’t I clear enough? I thought she was smarter than this. Maybe I have to be more direct.’

“Amelia,” Tina smiled, acting as though they were besties.

“Hello, Tina. We meet again.” Amelia also plastered a sweet smile on her face, keeping up the perfect act while scowling inwardly. Surely two can play the game.

“I know right.” Tina chuckled sweetly. “It’s almost like destiny.” She said observing the glint of determination in Amelia’s eyes and the extra make-up on her face which brought out her hidden beauty.

“Destiny!” Amelia arched her eyebrow. “I don’t think so. It’s more like a deliberate coincidence if you ask me.”

Amelia’s reply felt like a slap on Tina’s cheek but the latter pretended not to be affected by it.

“So, what are you doing here talking to my bodyguard? Did you somehow miss your way or something?” Amelia asked sweetly.

“No… I never miss my way.” Tina suppressed the urge to sneer. “I’m actually here to see my boyfriend and his mom. Remember?”

“Oh, your ex-boyfriend. Sure! Good luck.” Amelia made a move to walk past her but Tina hurriedly blocked her path, her ears reddening a little from suppressing her anger.

“Please wait a minute.”

“Yes.” A sly glint played at the corner of Amelia’s glimmering eyes.

“We are friends right?”

“We are definitely not enemies. Are we?” Amelia replied her question with a question causing a frown to appear on Tina’s forehead.

“Certainly not.”

“Good. So tell me, what do you want?”

“I know this sounds crazy but I was reliably informed that my ex and his mother are behind this door. But this big grumpy bodyguard of yours wouldn’t let me through. Can you please help me talk to him? I know he will listen to you.”
