Dressed in hunter green pants, paired with a graphic oversized male t-shirt, a black face cap and dark sunglasses to hide her face, Tina hurried out of the lobby of the West View hotel, her head lowered. She was holding a black shopping bag that contained all her stuff from the previous night.
She could see some people staring quizzically at her, trying to figure out who she was. This intensified her anxiety, forcing her to pull her face cap even lower.
“Miranda…” Tina heard the unmistakable voice of her one-night stand, calling out her false name passionately while hurrying after her.
“No f*cking way!” Tina doubled her step, almost running past the doorman at the entrance like a pickpocket.
“Miranda, wait, you forgot one of your earrings.”
Tina didn’t catch what the man was saying as she hurried to the busy street and flagged down a taxi.
Thankfully a yellow cab stopped in front of her, just in time to save her from exposing her identity to this clingy one-night stand.
“Where to ma’am?” The driver asked staring at his rearview mirror.
“Take me to 72, Milly Drive estate.” Tina disguised her voice while shutting the door and peeking out the window to ensure her one-night stand wasn’t following her.
“It will cost you ten dollars, ma’am.” The bald driver turned around, eying her, while staring at a slightly bulky man running down the stairs of a hotel entrance while trying to flag him down.
“I’ll pay you one hundred bucks if you stop staring at me and just drive.”
“You got it, ma’am.” The taxi driver chirped happily as he turned his attention back to the road ahead. He stepped on the gas pedal and drove off, just in time before the bulky man caught up with his cab.
“Phew! That was close.” Tina released a sigh of relief, knowing she had consummated her end of the bargain.
The nosy driver who wrongly thought that she was a cheap hooker, who may have stolen the money of her client since she was willing to give away a hundred bucks, said in a humorous tone.
“Rough day, huh?”
“Tell me about it.” Tina hissed, bringing out her expensive phone to check for messages or missed calls.
“Such greedy men deserve what they get. He should have paid you very well.”
“What!” Tina looked up from her phone unsure of what the cab driver was saying.
“I’m saying, I’ve seen such men a lot. First, the pick up a beautiful girl such as yourself and bargain a price. Then after having their fun, they think they can play a fast one.”
Tina’s face reddened with anger at the driver’s insinuation. “Can you please focus on the road and keep your stinking nose out of my business?” She snapped at the driver harshly.
“Oh…sorry, ma’am.”
“You better be.” Tina hissed returning her piqued gaze to her phone. She dialled Remy’s number and the latter picked up on the first ring.
“Tina, where are you? We are supposed to shoot the next scene by 9:00 AM at the Cambian park. It’s 8:45 AM and you’re nowhere to be found.”

“Stop being dramatic and come get me at the estate entrance quickly.” Tina hissed again and ended the call, her thoughts disorganized.
As the car passed by the busy streets and traffic, her mind drifted to her wild night encounter with her benefactor whose name was Ivan. She came to discover that he was a top-shot bank manager in one of the leading banks in the city. He was as lively as he was charming with words. But he wasn’t her type of man.
Although a little bulky on the lower side, Tina found him very active and vigorous in bed as he didn’t give her any breathing space last night.
Who would have thought that she had gone to that restaurant looking all beautiful for Blaze only to end up on a complete stranger’s bed moaning like a cheap hooker? She felt so disgusted at herself and couldn’t wait to get home to have a thorough bath.
Her mind went back to Blaze and his mother, causing her fresh grief. If only they had given her a few minutes of their time to explain herself. And to think she had accused Amelia over nothing was even more distressing.
“I have to fix this,” Tina vowed in her heart. “After the movie shoot, I need to find a way to speak with Amelia. If I can regain her trust, I can penetrate Maria through her.”
Tina was lost in her thoughts when she heard her phone ringing. She took one glance at the caller ID and frowned. Clearing her throat, she swiped the receive button and spoke in her normal voice making the cab driver raise his eyebrow at her in surprise.
“Hey, mom.”
“How did it go?”
“Not so good.” Tina sighed.
“But I just saw the uploaded picture on my Instagram page. You were hugging Maria with Blaze standing by her side. People are already talking.”
“Shit! I haven’t told those fools to post the pictures yet. Mom, let me call you back.” Tina ended the call and was about to dial a number on her phone when the tab driver announced that they had arrived at their destination.
Tina looked up the window and saw Remy parked under a tree by the entrance to the estate. He was looking sleep-deprived and a bit stressed, rechecking his wristwatch every five seconds.
“Here…a hundred bucks as promised.” Tina threw the money at the driver’s face before stepping out of the car and leaving the door open.
“Arrogant b*tch.” The driver picked up his money, cursing her under his breath, as he climbed out of his car and shut the door properly, before re-entering his car and driving off.
“Oh, Tina…Thank goodness you’re back. Where have you been?” Remy hurried over to her. “Did the police…”
“Not a word about that incident.” Tina snapped at him as she entered the rear seat of her car while lambasting someone over the phone.

Blake, who had been tied down with a lot of activities since he arrived at the office was in the middle of addressing an issue with a disgruntled business client when he received an update about the possible identity of the man who had threatened, Amelia.
“His name is Lorenzo Alejandro,” Marcus reported reading from his iPad. “He is the elder brother to Gabriel Alejandro, the man whom Madam stabbed to death on the day of her kidnap.”
“Where is he now?” Blaze asked, his tone dripping with untamed fury.
“We haven’t spotted his location, sir. He’s a ghost. He only appears when he wants to and disappears without a trace.”
“Was he involved in the kidnapping?”
“No sir. He is a solo hunter and has never been in contact with his brother for over six years. We have reasons to believe that he has left the city. But we’re not completely certain. We may need to step up madam security just in case he takes us by surprise.”
“Hmm…” Blaze massaged his temple, his thoughts solely on Amelia. “Where is Amelia now.”
“Still at the office, sir. But it seems she’s planning to attend one of her friend’s fashion display events taking place at the Galway Hotel and Event Center.”
“What time?”
“According to Pascal, she will be leaving the office by 4:00 PM to return home and change before heading for the venue.”
“Alright, cancel all my outstanding and book a reservation at the hotel presidential suite. Also, recruit some more hands and reinforce the security at the venue. I do not want any surprises.” Blaze said, standing up from his seat.
“Yes sir.” Marcus hesitated a little before asking. “Sir, should we still proceed with our initial plans concerning the senator?”
“Yes, nothing has changed.” Blaze strolled to the mini bar in his office to fix himself a drink, his mind a bit chaotic due to the hunting memories of the previous night with Amelia. He poured himself a glass of Scotch and swallowed the whole content, gritting his teeth. “Nothing has changed.” He repeated turning to face Marcus.
“Okay, sir. Umm… One last thing sir. A picture of you, Miss Tina and your mom was trending on social media. But we’ve taken it down.”
“What picture?” Blaze’s gaze turned cold and deadly.
“This one sir.” Marcus opened a saved picture in his gallery and showed it to Blaze, causing the wine glass in the latter’s firm grip to shatter.
