Chapter 78: Altercation
“You dare beg for him,”
Blaze growled in a low, deep and spine-chilling voice. His menacing glare held Amelia trapped like a hungry predator encircling its little prey. His breath was scorching and his grey orbs were shrouded like a dark cloud with smudges emitting tiny flashes of light.
Amelia struggled violently while trembling vigorously like a rabbit caught in a snare. Her heart was pounding widely in her ear, and her eyes felt as though they were about to pop out from its socket. A million thoughts ran through her head as she regretted taking Blaze for a contract husband.
“Tell me, Amelia, do you care that much for the motherf*king bastard?” Blaze’s deep tone was dripping with venom.
“Go to hell.” Amelia managed to say as she struggled more fiercely hitting Blaze in the chest with all her might.
Blaze leaned closer to her face, his scorching breath burning her skin. “I’m hell.” He released his grip on her and dragged her to a couch forcing her to sit down while towering over her.
Amelia greedily gulped air into her lungs while coughing and massaging her hurting neck. Her whole body was shaken with so much fright, as she looked up to meet Blaze’s vicious snarl, more tears falling from her reddened eyes.
“You disappoint me, Amelia,” Blaze spoke between clenched jaws, his heart bleeding at the sight of her tears.
“You sat there while that fool flirted with you in public and you did nothing to kick him far away from you. You watched him insult me. He called me a brute before your friends and all I saw was you begging me to remain calm. You heard him challenge me and now you dare beg me on his behalf?”
“He is just a f*cking investor in my company, you jealous psychopath,” Amelia yelled unafraid, angered at the fact that Blaze dared to put his hands on her. “What do you expect me to do, chase him away like a flea.”
“You are supposed to behave like a married woman.” Blaze clenched his fist, furious at the way this little precious lady was challenging him without an ounce of fear.
“A married woman?” Amelia scoffed, standing up, more tears streaming down her face as she recalled how Gwen had made fun of her so-called marriage.
“I am a married woman who still goes by the title of Miss,” Amelia said poking Blaze with her forefinger, matching his fury with hers. “Do you even have any idea what that sounds like? It’s almost as if I’m married to myself. Like I’m making this all up just to gain public attention. Maybe if I had my husband by my side, a random guy wouldn’t be flirting with me. Maybe I won’t have to start acting like a wild woman in public shooing every single man that wants to socialise with me.”
“Are you done?” Blaze gritted his teeth, his nose flared and his darkened gaze narrowed viciously.
“No…I’m not.” Amelia spat out. “I may have to remind you that I entered this contract marriage of my own volition. I am not completely helpless and I am no man’s punching bag. I will not tolerate a husband who lifts his hands on me nor will I allow any man to bully me the way you just did. I swear to God, the next time you lay your hands on me like that, I promise I will hurt you badly even if it costs me my life.” She turned her back to walk out on him when his next word caused her to freeze.
“What if I told you that your stepmother and Mr Tylor Young are secret lovers?” Blaze said bluntly showing no signs of remorse for his actions.
“What?” Amelia spun around, her reddened eyes widened.
“What if I told you that Tyler was intentionally placed in your company to woo you and destroy you just like Jerry did or maybe worse.”
“No,” Amelia whispered, shaking her head, her knees suddenly trembling. It felt as though someone had turned a bucket of cold water on her head as she began to shiver at the thought of dancing to her stepmother’s tune all over again. She slowly lowered herself into the seat behind her, staring at the polished marble floor and feeling like a complete idiot.
“We have done our research on him like you requested and we know he was planted in your company to monitor and unsettle you. While you were busy chatting, laughing and acting like the nice lady that you are, you have been the object of someone else’s amusement.”
“I…I…I…” Amelia stammered as words suddenly failed her. She looked up broken by Blaze’s words and terrified by the vicious look in his eyes.
There was no humanity, love or even lust in them, only pure anger and hatred. She instantly regretted stopping him or even pleading on behalf of Tyler. She had thought that Tyler was a genuine man with a genuine attraction for her just like every other man. If she had known Tyler’s plans, she would have simply gone to bed just like Blaze instructed her earlier.
Blaze stared at her long and hard, angry at himself for letting his emotions get in the way and at her for being so stubborn. He hated the fact that he had laid his hands on her roughly when all he wanted to do after he first saw her in that tempting dress was make love to her.
“Go to bed, Amelia.” He turned around and left the room without looking back.
Outside the presidential suite door, Blaze gave orders to Pascal to ensure Amelia didn’t leave the room until he returned.
“Yes, sir.”
On his way towards the elevator, Blaze received a call from Marcus. He tapped the receive button and said in a deadpan tone.
“Speak.”
“Sir we have tracked him to a strippers club.”

“Good. Send me the location.” Blaze hung up and dialled another number as he got into the elevator.
“Hello, boss.”
Blaze could hear the mournful screeching of a man and the whimpering of a woman in the background. A wicked grin slowly replaced his scrunched expression.
“Tidy up and set those vermin loose with a warning.”
“Yes, boss.”
